So I failed at zero waste living... kind of.
I think there's some stuff I've done a really good job with and some stuff I've done not a good job with... but I'm excited to be back here on RU-vid to reignite some sustainability and zero waste content.
My goals for this channel are to create a zero waste pantry and do a cost comparison on those items, create a data driven sustainable and minimal wardrobe, to recreate my zero waste systems I had in California here in Maine, and to have fun!

Please don't say you failed! I found you through Shelbi, and I love the transition she has made from focusing on plastic packaging to an overall sustainable lifestyle. Working in local government is a huge contribution, as is setting up a household and renovating a home with sustainability in mind. The zero waste movement is growing up, recognizing that being green is more than using glass jars and stainless steel water bottles.

I found you by searching for sustainable RU-vidrs that I could learn from when I first started my sustainability journey. I’ve enjoyed everything you’ve posted and learned so much from you! I’ve even started my own bulk store thanks to great RU-vidrs like you and Shelby and Gittemary. Our culture is not set up for zero-waste, so make sure to give yourself grace. The impact you’ve had through your platform has made more of a difference for the planet than any amount of garbage you could produce! Progress not perfection. Don’t give up and keep moving forward!

I found you through Shelbi, and both of your journeys and advice have been so wonderful to follow, including the pauses, re-evaluations, and redirections. We're supposed to grow and change, no one is supposed to figure it all out when they're 20 and then never change course. I love the growth, including in unplanned, unexpected directions.

I live in rural Maine and it is so nice to see environmental/sustainable influencers who don't live places with huge refill shops. My town barely recycles so we've been focusing on buying less and repairing items as well.
@DwainDwight
trader joes (and the like) should look into zero waste outlets. seems a big opportunity.
@ViannaAmbrosi
I came to your channel from your book, which I found at our local library. I'm so glad you are coming back for longer videos and starting over! We are about to move as well, just one town over but it doesn't have a co-op and a less sustainable vibe. I've also started focusing on repairing what I have and shopping secondhand or utilizing my Buy Nothing group.
@miameibers62
Thank you for talking about the difficulties of making the most sustainable choices in places without the resources!
@dcknx
I think I discovered your blog some 5 years ago while looking for a plastic free swap or recipe for something, and from there I found your book, RU-vid and Instagram. As another commenter here said already, I'm super pleased to see you post a longer video here - I'm not a fan of Instagram, and I really dislike the short form videos (I do understand that they are all the rage at the moment though), so I really enjoyed this one :)
@Laura-uf4zw
I found you about a year ago after buying your book, “101 ways to go zero waste”. I loved your book and decided to find you on instagram and now here. Thanks for all your knowledge.
@heathercole659
Thank you so much for your transparency and humility!! Zero Waste has seemed daunting to me for so long - amazing, worthy, and necessary, but daunting. I feel like a lot of zero-waste disciples often preach all or nothing, making it so hard to stick to when you're imperfect or facing uncontrollable circumstances. I find your videos so hopeful and motivating. It makes me think, "yeah, I can do that simple thing, and probably the next simple thing after that." I appreciate how your videos are rooted in reality - focusing on what can be done versus what isn't being done or what isn't being done well enough. Keep up the fantastic work!!

I follow you on tiktok and I also failed at the zero waste movement at the same time as you. But creators like you helped me learn and now I still try to create LESS waste. You have made a difference. The ZW movement was always unrealistic and I'm glad creators are talking about the FUTURE of what used to be the zero waste jar to transition to a more realistic life changes that create less waste.

Fellow Mainer here. Zero waste here can be rather...challenging. I'm in the mid-coast so shops here are limited. One (non co-op) store had a small bulk bin section, it was removed during covid and never came back. 😢
@glendatrinidad7888
thank you for doing this video! Sometimes I beat myself up for forgetting my reusable coffee cup or totes but I think what matters is that we continue to keep working at it! Excited to see more videos!

I hear you on this where some areas have not been so well you know. organized..constantly tweak..find what works..yes going zero waste is great/but its not impossible just revamp, upscale..easier said but then done..find what really works..putting on music helps spark creativity..I should really take my own advice..ugh..keep up greatwork.

How wonderful you are back. I found one of your videos years ago, on your website, it was a 'blah # of outfits from blah # of clothing items' and it was so good! It's also refreshing to hear your honesty about the challenges that zero wasters have faced over the last few years. The pandemic did the same thing to me, I ended up just shopping at the supermarket. It was too much to deal with during the pandemic (I also have a special needs child to care for). And once these great habits are damaged, it's so hard to get back to it.
@itisibuffmonster
I found you through your RU-vid shorts!
@dianewallace6064
I will keep watching your zero waste journey.
