It was actually the other way around. There's an interview where Faye talks about it. They were together for 5 years, Faye pursued her senior, who had never been in a relationship with a woman before. Faye went overseas and got distracted, ultimately ending the relationship. They are still close, by Faye's words, partly because her senior is such a good person. She quoted her senior as saying that on the day they broke up, she met her husband because he "looks at me the way you used to", saying that senior didn't feel or see that from Faye anymore. Faye herself said that she got bored of the relationship. I think that Faye is a good person with a lot of affection to give, but she is definitely not the one who got her heart broken.

I can empathize with Faye. It’s tough but there must of been an understanding between them. I dated a woman for 5 years as well. We just understood that we wanted different things. She now has a beautiful family, 3 children and a husband. It just wasn’t meant for us to be. I still love her very much but now it’s just a different love. Once you fall for someone it never goes away it just changes. Life is bittersweet.
I think from what I saw and heard from faye's interview, faye left her after faye went abroad and somehow lost the intensity of their chemistry... So they broke up.

I always feel like that the translation is not quite right. If her lover is bisexual or Pan and at one point chose a woman and then later chose a man, that is not changing your gender identity. 1- I don't think it's "changing preferences" , more like changing lovers/lifestyle. I mean, she didn't say the lady wasn't attracted to women anymore.
