Hey Bro I hope you see this message! As Jon’s touring guitar player for the the first 3 tapes and human condition and member of his band since we met in college I would like to give you my stamp of approval on this! ahaha That drum pocket and how you weave the vocals in there is really close to the way jon does it. What’s awesome is it sounds like it’s own thing! would love to make a jon style beat with you sometime. I’m a songwriter as well. Also some other things. I went to school with Jon and can tell you that he learned nothing in music college he didn’t go to school for music for performance he went for audio production. All he would do is create music everyday in his dorm and in those days all his creations sounded radio ready. Crazy!

This sounds so much like Quinn XCII which is so close to Jon and very inspired/co-created by him! Great video!

I think one of the key elements that makes Jon Bellion is a very free-form drum style. There usually not locked to the grid. They’re beautifully sloppy and swung, and groovy.

When I watch his beat making videos, it seems he has already envisioned the main components of the song, before ever sitting down to record. He doesn't approach music like "ok now i've made some chords that work....now..where do I go from here?". He's already got the chorus, melody, bass, drums, keys worked out in his head.

Exactly, we don't have to copy a formula of others. If we are honest with ourselves and show it purely to the world, eventually, we will make great things.
