Another interesting thing about the twirl of vines is they turn in opposite directions depending upon which hemisphere they’re growing in. Northern hemisphere is typically clockwise while the southern is counterclockwise.
One of the best "movies" I've ever seen. I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes, feeling humble and grateful for the miracle of life. This was exactly the medicine I needed after a very stressful day. Thank you for your patience; I believe you will inspire millions with it. This movie deserves an award!
I sit here, a 70-year-old man near tears, having my belief that we are privileged beings to live in a wonderous, amazing and oh so beautiful world reaffirmed. Thank you...................and kudos to your production values/quality as well. The music was so "right" that I may just listen to my tomato plants growing to see if I can hear that "tune".
I saw the beauty, too, Mr. Cunningham. It’s so amazing to see all the diversity and witness the results of even some nurturing. Life keeps going and going. It’s like life wants to live and keep on living 💚💜
one life, 15 year video, this man quite litterly gave us a chunk of his life span just to entertain us for half an hour... thats some major respect right there man. this was awsome!
A chunk of his lifespan? Lmao he grew multiple plants at the same time and had the cameras set to automatically take pictures. All he had to do was water the plants every day.
The kiwi was insane to me, the way it was almost seeking out that can. Almost like some sort of worm. Makes me think that plans are smarter than we think perhaps just much much slower than any other organism.
This is known as "twining", and it occurs because the plant uses a support structure to help it climb and reach sunlight. The twining is a natural mechanism where the vine wraps around the support in a spiral manner to gain stability and grow upward efficiently. This behavior ensures that the vine can maximize its exposure to light, which is essential for photosynthesis and overall growth.
If you ever watch the film interstellar, all this would of happened in the time it took one of them to walk out from theirs lander unit on the planet covered in water.

This was not a video to make a video. This was a display of complete passion, care, patience, technical prowess and love. It gives us a glimpse into the world we walk past all to fast. What a reminder to just stop for a minute and truly observe the world around us.
@@DAViDD767don't straw man vegans. Plants are very much living but they are not sentient. They have no central nervous system or brain, whereas animals definitely do. Even if plants were sentient somehow and experienced horrific suffering when you pick their fruit, you still kill far more plants by eating animals as they need to be fed 10-30x more food than the calories their flesh provides.
I had my cactus for about 8 years and this summer it has flowered for the first time. It got gorgeous flowers dotted all around it. I’m super happy about it.
I come here expecting a 15 years time lapse of a single plant. Turns out it was 15 years total from multiple time lapse. It was a pleasant surprise. While i wanted the follow up of some plants, being able to see some of the smaller plants grow, wither, and bear fruit was such an amazing experience i am at a loss of words. Beautiful.
Well it felt like I had to spend 15 years watching it. But that was just a result of the sheer quantity of effort required to create so many wonderful different time-lapse sequences in one video.
@@marcinhoffmann1064 Uh.. One of the plants featured, the durian, do live up to 15 years and beyond, and also some of other "Big" plants here (like mango. didnt really remember the each of them), hence, my confusion. I mean, documenting plants for a total of 15 years is insane enough, expecting this to be a video about growing up a plant for 15 years isnt too far off, is it?
It wasn't a pleasant surprise, as RU-vid has tons of similar timelapses, and none as long as stated in the preview. The author is a liar, regardless of his other skills
I have done a few timelapses of flowers, many years ago around 2005. It is surprisingly hard to keep exposure and a fixed position. This video shows an understanding how to deal with that, VERY well done. I am impressed. What surprised me the most when I did my timelapses was the MOVEMENT of the flower. While it thrived it made a circulative motion, when it stopped it took a few days and it wiltered...
literally a documentary without explanation, voice, actors, professionals os science. A wonderfull video!! Congrats for this amount of time of photos. Thanks
What a beautiful video! For some reason I started crying. Plant life, life in general is so special, so precious. We need to protect mother Earth more than ever. Amazing.🥰
i opened youtube to watch a tutorial but found this on my home page. i am at minute 24 now and i'm stunned how this video mezmerized me - in a positive way. the quality, the music, everything. im absolutely not a "plant guy" but when i watched the video it felt like you can feel the plant growing. insane work man! love it
How do you heart or love a RU-vid video 😊 This video connected so many feelings for me. The patience to observe life for 15 years and to share the beauty of it to others is so inspiring! Thank you for sharing @boxlapse!
Wow! That actually brought a tear to the eye of my 6’2” male body. Isn’t nature absolutely beautiful? You brought it into a human timescale. Superb job. You should get an award for this.
I'm a Gardner as well, along with the music, I was in tears of joy from plant #1. Thank you! Bless your heart for showing us this, and thank u for the hard work it took to complete this! We'll worth it in my opinion! Ty! Ty! Ty!🥲☺️
I absolutely love time lapses. Slower life is just as alive. They're a glimpse into the grand scale that our brief, less than a century alive can not notice. Life is slow, life is constant.
The timelapse turns these slow, natural processes into a mesmerizing dance of life. Through the filmmaker's lens, we see the interconnectedness of nature, a reminder of our own fleeting existence. The garden's cycle of growth and renewal reflects the beauty and fragility of life, inviting us to pause and appreciate the wonder of simply being. Thanks for your beautiful art.
Outstanding work! As always. For anyone who doesn't do timelapses this is a TON of work and you don't know what you have for weeks and months. You just have to trust the process and keep your faith.
dude.... "plant a seed and nature grows", am I the only one who's truly amazed by this ? I still can't wrap my head around it, guys do you even realize ?
You sound like those people who watch a restored video from 1908 and say “so weird that all the people in this video are now dead” It’d be weird if they were all still alive
@@hughmongous2554 I already know and so do a lot of wise people but the truth is dark and scary and not something that most people would continue to find happiness in life if they were to be introduced to a concept that cannot be proven but still makes a sense of things that can only be processed by the individual... A self evident truth that no one can share but everyone can come to find on their own. Something that defies all science and explanation yet encompasses it all nonetheless... You are already in hell. You are this Satan, this Arbiter, this one last of us yet to escape, doomed to never escape for the walls are upon our shoulders and we have already pierced the crucible in a way that has freed the real natives to go back into the pleurisy. They watch from the eyes of the birds and they feed you with the flesh of yourself. A snake eating its tail. An ancient painting that wraps around itself blurring and reforming from one visage to the next, constantly in motion yet always a new sight to behold by the watcher. You are the output given by the sum of Descartes' demon, added by Laplace's demon, added by Nietzsche's demon. Its shadow rather. Maybe today is the day the heavens will open up and let us all in. Probably not though. Thanks yaldabaoth. You in so much trouble.
Lmao you must be really high or actually be able the Phatomn the beauty of life itself, in the end have a great day this has been going on for millions of years
Jaw-dropping. Mind-boggling. A true labor of love. Really able to see plants as living things. These plants look like they are alive. One of the most beautiful things I have seen on RU-vid. Emotional.
This was just too awe-inspiring! Here is the deal... I was moved to tears. Each plant tracked at which day of progress and the music selection. This video needs to be submitted to the Museum Of Science And Industry in Chicago to the curator. You will inspire a whole new generation of farmers or those who want beautiful plants at their windows. This video is far too important to just be here in RU-vid. I feel the absolute need to visit my garden center and get started! Patience seems to be the key! Schools everywhere should have this video so kids everywhere could have classrooms grow plants for cleaner air and something to take home and possibly continue. Thank you for this moving educational video! I am going to try a few. Thank you for the wide selection! All of your efforts are so worth it!
So right. It belongs to be in all schools and museums. to inspire humans all around this globe. what a beauty !! as you said, the author should not just let it be in RU-vid.
Absolutely Beautiful, this truly shows the life that exists in plants. From the little saplings exploring with there vines to eventually grappling onto support poles all to eventually create a fruit of there own. This video really is beautiful, I really needed to see this kind of video today so Thank you 😸
I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!.. WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!.. The mystery and beauty of Nature... moves one,s soul... Thank you for this EXCELLENT, AWARD-WINNING WORTHY, film, and sharing this!!..👏👏👏👌👌👌🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆❤
This video couldn't be any more beautiful. Plants are all alive as could be. They are amazing and so different. Thank you for the amazing video. I never cease to be amazed by videos like these!!!
All beginning starts slow and often in a dark place. No one can than imagine what beautiful gigantic wonders life will brings us when we keep to our path which is set for us long before 🍀🌟 Thank you for this amazing work 💙
What an amazing amount of work, love and patience. Absolutely mesmerising and relaxing to watch. It’s like the plants are dancing with the with the music. Thank you!
Highest respect Boxlapse. You are surely a noble and good person to have the patience and skill not only to have the inclination to grow plants in this manner, but to take the effort to share it with others. The timelapse gives a great sneak preview into how nature achieves its miracles. I shared it with mum who is 87 and though she can't get about as before, was a very keen gardener. She loved it, concept, video, details and music.🙏
Thank you - I bet you inspired thousands of people, I got inspired from you and started a small balcony of houseplants. May you carry on many more years! All the best.
i study biology, and have plant physiology this semester. did not think much of it until this video, which made me realize how beautiful everyday plants are
Thank you so much for making this video. You have given us an opportunity to see and appreciate the growth of so many plants that we would not otherwise be able to do.
Wow! Just... wow! Beautiful! Added bonus... I got gardening tips to deal with difficulties I've had in growing some of the hard seeds. Only 75k likes? Deserves a LOT more. Nearing being elderly, I appreciate gardens and gardening so much more than when I was young... it just seems to gradually come with age. The rest of the world could disappear but I wouldn't notice while sitting among my trees in the garden, reading a book.
Thank you so much for your care and that you made it possible to see what’s usually hidden -that nature is alive, beautifully fragil and worth to protect. I was so moved that I cried. Love from Tim (Germany)
i came here thinking i was going to see a fifteen year time-lapse of one plant, but i couldnt look away once they started!! music choices are lovely, very restful and calming video! then the time lapse literally shows us the 'time' of plants, reaching and holding on to supports to grow.....no one should say that plants are not living creatures....we just arent able to understand them.....heck, i bet rocks are alive too, just living in such a slow time that we dont perceive it.
This was beautifully sensitive filming paired with music that complimented each plant. It certainly inspired me. I especially loved watching the kiwi tendrils find their place. What a dance!
I was in tears. How beautiful mother earth is. The way everything grew was so beautiful and emotional. I plan to grow something like this now. I will come back n post if I grow something
@@Cheese4294. deep down as human beings we have attachments with nature, that's why it's called "mother nature". our roots come from nature. this connection is still there even if you're addicted to tiktok and all the stupid sh*t media is today, it's just different how people let themselves "feel" the connection with nature. feelings are too complex atm for us to decipher how exactly our brain chemicals and neuro pathways communicate to generate "feelings", but it's definitely something with ancestral roots to nature. so yeah, in short: try a bit of open-mindedness, no-one knows everything and definitely you don't, so let him cry to anything he wants 🧐
@@Cheese4294. technically you are seeing advanced genetic engineering done by accident by no one in particular designed over billions of years, and it can self replicate from a single, minuscule seed, i can understand why someone would be feeling things watching something like this. Its like, the implications, you know, its different seeing its entire life in a moment, more contemplative... but of course you wouldnt understand wouldnt you
Currently doing something like this, with an avocado, a cherry, a mandarin orange, two apples, and two lemon trees. All direct planted into soil, no special germination techniques. It’s a fun thing to watch them grow!
I’ve always been very passionate about never wasting food, and this has thrown gasoline on that fiery passion ❤️🔥 Nature works so hard for us. How dare we ever waste a single bit of it 🥺
Thank you for sharing! I love timelapse videos! I don't mind admitting I was expecting to see a tree timelapsed from seed to 15 years later, but I reckon that might be a hell of a feat to do.
Harold Edgerton would be proud of you,as he was one of the pioneers in time lapse, and strobe photography! Well done, and totally fascinating! Thank you 😇 😊!
Really brings one to tears. To see the passing of days and years in seconds is like tasting a mere shadow of the infinite. Time lapses are truly something special.
"Tasting a mere shadow of the infinite" is as poetic as it is accurate. The process that we're seeing has been repeated in nature on an unfathomable scale - and we're brought to tears witnessing a single instance. The scale is difficult to appreciate fully.
Man.. Thank you for these and your time and effort! It sooooo reminds me of this.... “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world."!
