Vineyards you get one random bonus tile at the start, then get to pick another each time you complete a tier level on the vineyard board. I was the same as you, I never played, knew of the game. I watched how to play and liked it. Went all in (played 5 times in the last week)! Packing the box with the acrylic tiles is a problem. if you put all the tiles in their bags and get rid of the vineyard storage tray you can stack everything so the bags sit at the top and the lid shuts perfectly. (vineyard boards > playerboards + vineyard shop next to it > castles tray > gameboard + rulebook > goods insert tray> tile bags) Ill get some extra trays to sit on the top space for the coins + workers just for better gameplay, but they do fit in tray.
I am a 3d insert printing enthusiast and will print a new insert whenever I feel the original is substandard or less. I do think that it’s a bit of a tight fit with the full acrylic components (not including the terrain upgrade nor any game mats) and I am able to easily but tightly fit every thing without needing to print a different solution. I haven’t watched any repackaging videos because I’m surprised that people had that much difficulty. I took the cardboard out.
Do you have the acrylic tokens? I think all I have fits fine I just think the insert will eventually fall apart. It is so thin and flimsy with a tube of weight the large piece flexes a ton as I pull it out. It it does I will just print something though.
I have both acrylics but not the 3d terrain. I agree with flex. But the one in Castles of Mad King Ludwig flexes more and is holding up. I was annoyed at CoMKL; I had gotten used to the flimsy-but-somehow-sturdy by the time Burgundy arrived. Now that I've more thought about it, I used the insert of one of the acrylic boxes that I nested inside one of the original solutions. That might be why mine aren't so flimsy. @@Neon_Gorilla
I am in the same boat. Never played this before, but went all in based on the popularity of the game and the good reputation of Awaken Realms. About to set up for my first game. Really excited to see everything in action!
I've played CoB on BGA 100x but never physically and then late pledged the SE in March. Went Royal with acrylics and Playmat. Dont regret a thing! The solo mode is insanely good! And getting all expansions is huge.
💯 I haven’t tried solo yet but excited to do so. I think that vineyard expansion creates a whole new game. Glad others are happy with this ridiculous edition ;). Thanks for watching.
@@Neon_Gorilla definitely have a go at the solo mode as soon as you find the time! It's truly ingenious! The trade route expansion is aust try as well. Makes selling goods a lot more interesting!
First video I’ve watched from you channel, and as what everyone else is saying, your editing is off the charts. Way ahead of most very successful channels! Subscribed!
My favourite unboxing of CoB Special Edition, so far. 🙂 Very informative, excellent video editing, and very enjoyable to watch because you're so comforable in front of the video cam. And you also look like you're having a heckuva lot of fun too. My Royal Pledge is still on the ship, but I'm pretty darn excited for it to arrive, as it's my favourite Euro game. Thanks for a great time, you gained a subscriber. Cheers from Canada!
Thanks Sharon. Really appreciate the kind words! I hope this beauty arrive for you soon. Being a Castles veteran I’m interested if you like the vineyard expansion as much as me. Let me know ;)
I'm really enjoying your content. Great insight on strategies that I haven't thought of. Keep up the great work, love your too many bines guides as well.
I'm so glad I sat down at the end of a long board game convention weekend to play this game (the original "ugly" version) for the first time, and absolutely fell in love with it. Haven't stopped playing it since as I usually am playing several games on BGA at any time. I was excited to back it on KS since no one in my local group of gamers owns it, but decided NOT to get the acrylic tiles, since the monastery ones do NOT have the hints on the back that the regular ones do. That for me is a must-have.
oh no the acrylic tiles are wonderful!!!!! the player aid describes everything, regardless this has not been put away since we got it. Wonderful production...
Agree to disagree, having gotten to borrow the special edition this past weekend, which included the acrylic tiles and teach 3 other people how to play. We spent SOOOOOO much time having to try and find tiles on the player aid, yes the acrylic has a great feel but to me, having what they do right on the back of the tile would have saved an immense amount of time. If you mostly play with the same people all the time that know the game, it probably wouldn't matter as much but I tend to teach games a lot and the hints are a must-have for me.
Fair, Yeah play with vets all the time. Not the game I am introducing people to very often. I will say I still look at the ref all the time even though I have played it countless times .
So sad about the acrylic tokens after playing with the acrylic hexes. Looking at the gamefound comments we were not alone in the miss. Get it to the table asap. Really a wonderful game.
@@Neon_Gorilla I am doing something I call Project Gateway where I try to curate the newbie space to figure out how to introduce people to modern games and when. I still remember Great Western Trail being sprung on nongamers.
@Neon_Gorilla I have several blogs up on BGG. I will reply to this with a link to the main one. I have other projects stuff. I have a blog on Civ games. Another one has myself tracking daily where Heat is on the Hotness List. My latest game design project I have has the working title Collection Conquest, where it is am RPG style progression system one uses to connect together games they play solo.
Unbelievable production on this, so we’ll done!! Excited to see what you put out in the future! Also, what we’re your thoughts on Trade Routes Expansions?
Appreciate that Devin, kind words like this keep me going. I think the trade routes expansion is interesting. Certainly makes ships, selling goods and the building that allows you to sell goods more valuable. I tend to stay away from ships for whatever reason and it makes playing them early and often feel more rewarding. Side note, I want to get to know the people that stumble on my videos a little better. What games are you excited about right now?
Hey awsome video! About the extra acrylic: yeah actually it all fits (a few workers wont fit, but you can put them in a bag), there is a guy who put some pictures on BGG to help on organizing them in. I ended up putting everything in the box using the inserts that came in, except for the neoprene that I left out, and that extra box with 3D buildings, i kept that box with the 3d in it. So, definitelly fit. I hope you can get the acrylic you missed soon, again thanks for the video!
Hey I really appreciate it. I have been at it for about a month or so. We will see what happens. I appreciate the sub. Out of curiosity any games that you are really hyped on coming out soon?
One of the best explanation videos I’ve seen. Love the detail you’ve described for each part of the game. I did get the extra acrylic tokens. Sorry, sort of.
No they all came in the big box. Check out the campaign. They were things like the vineyard expansion, more dutchy boards, wooden goods markers etc. The “stretch” goals were just the game. If you didn’t get them there would be a lot missing from your box. They pictured separate boxes in the campaign to make it seem like you were getting more.
It does. My green bag looks as if it has been stomped on a dirty floor; sadly it arrived like that. I would have preferred good quality cloth bags as the fake leather is kind of cheap and far too tryhard
