I don't think we're going to be able to import our save data from LIS1. They said that we're going to dictate the worldstate in the game through the dialogue with Safi.
Yeah, that's what I got from this as well. It sounded like they were simply saying that when you have that conversation with Safi, you can choose to stick with your original decision or change it purely through this conversation alone, not through actually importing save data. They were literally saying that. They said that people might not have there save file, so they won't be making use of the importing of save files, rather, the conversation with Safi will allow you to "import" your decision within the context of this game alone.
Dude, you're overthinking this slightly. I don't think there will be a direct way to import a save file. The way I took what the developers said is that key elements from the previous game i.e. the fate of Arcadia Bay and your relationship with Chloe will be determined via your responses in this conversation. I get they said 'import' which was slightly confusing, but I don't think there's any direct way to input your save file from the previous game, it all happens with your responses in this conversation. I also don't think your theory about "we were highschool sweethearts" vs. "we are highschool sweethearts" is necessarily correct. I think even if you saved Chloe, it's possible that they had some sort of falling out and they're not together as a couple....FOR NOW. I would love to be wrong on this and your theory to be correct, but it is possible there are other details in that conversation so that it always comes up as "we were". It's also possible that "we were" isn't what Max actually says anyway. Often the dialogue choices given are just a vague example of the direction you want the conversation to go in. Something to keep in mind.
I agree. I think that, similar to LIS2, whether or not Chloe was sacrificed will not play a huge role. You'll be able to establish the major choices that were made through the dialogue with Safi, but at most you'll get an easter egg or something. I don't think we'll be able to import our save data.
It could be a thing where they ask you about choices you made in the first game kinda like a survey type of thing and based on the answers you give the dialogue will reflect them. I don’t think that it’ll necessarily have an impact on the actual story though.
@@chillcloak Save data would depend on what you played the game on I am just chafing on all those fanfics where Max and Chloe grow up and have a family or whatever being invalidated by the new game because that becomes cannon.
The developers talked about how they understood people might not have that saved data anymore so they said that we would get to remake those choices during that conversation. So yeah definitely won’t be a import.
Were doesn’t necessarily have to indicate a conclusion to the relationship either. Often times, people who marry their high school sweethearts will say they were high school sweethearts. I’ve yet to hear anyone say they *are* high school sweethearts. Though I’m sure some probably do. My only point is that it’s common to use the past tense in situations like this.
I genuinely don't think chloe is going to be in the game in the present timeline, maybe in a flash back or in depth conversation involving her but overall i feel she would draw too much attention away from the plot given the current circumstances.
I think because this game is about shifting into different timelines we will get NO CHOICE in the beginning and we start where max chose the town and then we will eventually shift into the reality where Chloe is alive. They were tiptoeing around even saying Chloe’s name I’m really suspicious and think she’s gonna be a big plot point considering they’ve already revealed safis murder scene
They said they respected both endings and it very much looks like they used the clips from the sacrifice Chloe ending. Could be that if you chose to sacrifice the town, Chloe could play a big role
That would mean that the max you play as is always from a bay ending. Which means my choose to have Chloe is not being respected. Her being alive in another timeline is irrelevant my max choose to save Chloe but Id be forced to play a max that didn't
@@RosynaraGomes the game seems pretty much great for anyone that chose BAY ending. however, for those that chose Bae, i dont see how this game will be respecting that choice in any way. choosing BAE is about choosing the relationship between Max and Chloe. (be it platonic or romantic) but this game pretty much seems to have them broken up. the question where you tell the game about your choices in lis1 is framed in the past tense. chloe WAS my friend or she WAS my sweetheart. either way she isnt' in your past. it entirely invalidates the choice since either way you dont have chloe in your life.

They literally said that you will get to remake the choice during the conversation. Cause they understand people may not have that data anymore. There is no save data import.
I played LiS like seven times now (including before the storm and true colours - but NO LiS2, though) and i will definetively import the savegame (i always save chloe btw, never the town)!
Agreeing with some of the other comments...I think it'll be more a set of choices in-game rather than a save file. For one thing, I believe the LIS1 save file was local, not cloud, and a lot of people played LIS1 on tablet. Maybe there's a way to transfer from a mobile device to PC or console, but I imagine a lot of people don't have that particular tablet anymore (I don't!). Anyway, thanks for the video. If there is a way to import your save data from the previous game, I don’t think that will be the only way previous players can choose what happened. For example, if you played the first game and you lost all your data, according to you, they would be given a random ending from the first game and not get to choose what they did. The developers said that anyone who didn’t have their old save file would still be able to choose the ending they got in the original game. What you’re saying kind of makes sense, but I think you misunderstood what their trying to say.

Not a bad shout dude, makes sence and the divs said they where going to add players choice from the orignal game. I still think if where going to see are gal it be in the last episodes.They will keep us waiting and then she turns up. Also I wonder if they will have time to work on a couple of tweaks before release date for stuff like that. I'm sure the developers are watching and reading are thoughts so anything can happen. What doesn’t make sense to me is they say this conversation with Safi is early in the game, but how early? Because we’ve seen Max has a journal and presumably has a phone interface like all the other games do with texts. Does this mean the game is not going have any info on what Max went through before coming or anyone who could have been dead depending on the ending choice? I really don’t like that if it’s the case. I hope that means the conversation happens before you get access to those things so that there is at least some background on where Max has been and how her relationship is with living characters.
Ugh like don’t make choice based game sequels if you can’t figure out how to include them in a way that doesn’t make the choice meaningless. LIS1 wasn’t meant to have a sequel, but if they are gonna do it maybe they should just have picked 1 ending to follow.
@@theredeft5319the way I see it is LIS 1 feels like there’s so much more to be explored too a lot of people in comparison to LIS2 because LIS1 Is only two ending which made none of the choices in the game matter in the end and LIS2 has 7 different ending where we get to know every possible way things could’ve ended. with max being able to manipulate time it’s even more of a punch to leave us wondering how many more ways that story could’ve ended. which leads me to think LIS Double Exposure was a Good idea but they messed up BIG TIME on the first game and if they got it right the first time i wouldn’t feel this game would be needed at all which this game will most likely have 4+ endings
The dialouge could be nothing, like it might not even be in the game exactly as it is here bc it's just an example from a beta. If it is in the game just like it is here then there's obviously more context, safi has propably asked something before already or max has opened up already before this
I think we will have the dialogue option mainly because a good amount of the fanbase played Don't Nod's version first and buying the remaster wasn't viable after already completing the story. Also I don't think imort save will be a thing, if import save data relies on the player having played the remastered version in specific I'm sure some people may not be too happy having to replay the entire first game in the remaster to import their save for the 4th game. Also I know you're calling it Life is Strange 2 because it continues original story with Max, but Life is Strange 2 is a whole other game following Daniel and Sean Diaz. This is technically Life is Strange 4 as there is (chronologically: not release but story wise): LiS: BTS, then LiS 1, then LiS 2, then LiS: True Colors, and now LiS: Double Exposure.
I don't have my original save file as I played it when it first came out and I didn't bother to buy the remaster so I hope it doesn't alter my experience too much still looking forward to it though obviously
I thought about it a bit and let me say: I have a question Is the dialogue happening in the alternative reality (AR) or in Maxs reality, because if its in the AR, and there is were, remember Max is in AR not in the normal reality what means Safi is alive there and dead in the other one, so if theres *were* and she is in AR that would probably mean Chloe is alive in the normal reality and other way around if its a flashback what happened in the other one (idk if i said my thoughts right but hopefully i did)
They can have both… it doesn’t need to be so binary. Give the choice to players who either have Chloe dead, or just saw them as friends and give the choice to say they are together. It’s dumb to break them up in the interest of giving Max a new romance, just let the player decide. I mean I doubt they will force you to romance anyone so there should already be a just friend option. I’m gonna be so pissed if they break them up off screen without showing us in like a flashback section or something. Or maybe they shouldn’t have made a sequel with almost the same plot as the original if they didn’t want to bring in your choices. Like they don’t need to pull what the walking dead games do and make your choices pointless. Or maybe they should have just picked 1 ending to follow instead of being so vague and breaking character relationships.
I think there's no import saved data option as they didnt say it in the interview, its just gonna be a conversation to make the game more immersive than LiS 2. It would be weird for a player to play this game without playing the first one so maybe it doesn't matter if there's no 'did u play the first game' option?

My issue is that safi has no idea who Chloe is. Hence why she would need to ask you about her. That's fine for a bay choice. But if you choose bae why would you have to tell her who the mysterious blue haired girl in your wallet is. She should know Chloe. This tells me they are breaking them up. That is anything but respecting my choices not the spirit of my choice anyway
If DNT had managed to keep Lis and make a sequel with them, they wouldn't have separated it. After everything Max did! And for everything Chloe went through.
@@RosynaraGomesDontNod wouldn’t have made a sequel to begin with because they already told the story they wanted to. This seems like such a cash grab. Same general plot setup, Max is at a prestigious school when one of her new/old best friends gets shot and Max develops a superpower in order to unravel a mystery. And now it seems like they didn’t want to deal with Chloe being maybe alive so the easiest/laziest thing for them to do was not include her in the game. Max has been at this university working for 6 months now so clearly if Chloe were with her she’s have at least visited by now. Both Max and Chloe are nearly 30 so it’s unlikely Chloe is like at a different university or something and I can’t really see her wanting to anyway. Max is also working not studying which means it’s not like a short term long distance relationship thing(and to be honest after Max clamming up last time she left Chloe I don’t really think they can do long distance). I think they broke up. Max seems to be in a dark empty place and the way she talks about ending at a destination alone makes me think something bad happened for sure. I’m definitely not spending a cent on this game unless we get confirmation on what happened with Chloe. It’s feeling mad disrespectful. If Chloe was gonna be in an major way they’d have shown her, best we can hope for is some reasonable reason why she’s not there that I can’t think of.
I'll admit it says solid Theory personally I feel like for those of us that played the remastered collection we're going to be able to import save files from that version of the game but for those that haven't played this franchise first of all what are you doing with your life but secondly I do think if they go this route it is a smart choice
Hi, I have a question. This is great for people who have played the first Life Is Strange on the computer but what if like me you played the game on your mobile device? Do you think we will still be able to get our choices into the game or will we technically be a“new player?”
i don’t think we will have to “import a save-file” but as the devs explained, we will first pick whether we’ve played the game or not from sort of a menu like in Lis 2 and wavelenghts (i think they’ve mentioned that arcadia comes naturally in the conversation so i’m guessing maybe if you picked “no” then the game chooses for you automatically: either way those who haven’t played LiS 1 will get the ending spoiled imo but idk what they have in mind for that), if we say yes, in the conversation with safi we’ll be asked about the major plot points: sacrifice chloe/arcadia, chloe as a best friend or lover. there you “remake” your choices or you can follow the other path, for example, i sacrificed arcadia in my game but i wanna see how double exposure plays out if I had sacrificed chloe
I think during the conversation with Safi we will be able to simulate a few key decisions from the first game (think The Witcher 3 style) and what was shown was merely one of these choices - whether our relationship with Chloe was platonic or romantic, but which LiS1 ending we go with is also covered in this dialogue. I don't think the two timelines are the two endings... It's just seems to me from how devs speak of this new story and the gameplay showcase that Chloe isn't in Max's life anymore even if she's alive (and tbh with both of them bearing trauma from Sacrifice Arcadia Bay ending, them falling out wouldn't suprise me at all). However I bet we'll see callbacks/flashbacks from LiS1 throughout the game, especially in later chapters! And I have a feeling this new story is somehow connected to the previous one...

Its setup in a way that it’ll asks have you played the first game or not. If you have you have an option to choose which ending you played. Many of us played it multiple times and saw both endings. So you can play either path. New players just won’t get that answer and move on. Will give avenues to catch up or room to explore. I also think we can think yes the events in the first game happen but that outcome or some of the lore and characters won’t show up. We need to think this game is very standalone but pay homage to the first one without taking away from the first game. So I wouldn’t read too much into a 2 second frame of dialogue and a spoil free dev conversation. New story, new characters, and new mysteries.
this could be true because someone on Twitter pointed out that the picture with chloe that was shown in the trailer is actually edited and frame by frame you can actually see that there might be another pic there (maybe a different pic where chloe is alive)
I don't think theyre gonna let us import save files , what they will do is ask " have you played LiS before " you choose yes or no and then ask " did you sacrifice Chloe" and than you choose yes or no and depending on that choice the dialogue will be slightly different
Everyone misunderstood that this was bay timeline 😭it’s the Max and Chloe break up panic. Safi says blue haired Chloe. Both dialogue options being past tense make no sense for bae. I think people got thrown off too by the high school sweetheart not taking into account Max is secretive and saying this is easier than say the girl she’s been in love with is dead because of her letting her die. The line we were friends that’s next to the dialogue also makes no sense on bae path
I see it as it's based on the choice you made in LIS 1 at the end. In the clip, we see Safi(?) Gives the description of HS Chloe. In LiS 2 if you saved Chloe David will have a picture of her and Max. Chloe's hair is longer and green. The person that did the demonstration must've chosen the save Arcadia option, meaning Chloe is dead so they have no choice but to phrase sentences like that. If Chloe is alive she lives somewhere else since she couldn't go off to college with Max. Either they broke up because of this or they will still be together just separated. They hopefully are still together because I killed a whole town for that girl.

Of course, these are just guesses. It is possible that Chloe went her own path in life. And I see two choices. Either they are actually just friends, she met someone new and is studying elsewhere. After all, she didn't have the same interests as MAX I'm talking about photography. Or she is more to her and they have a break from each other. She left for the devastated Arcadia Bay on an urgent family matter ?

That's fair but this game is also known for having multiple timelines so I think they'll be something for both sides so just stick with what you believe and try to enjoy the game I'm a chlo fan so if I can ride it with the homie I will
If they had to make a sequel I think it probably would have been better to just pick one. Doesn’t have to make the other ending less canon, it can just be the parallel universe they decided to follow. Then they don’t have to be so disrespectful to the first game outcome.
