I can't say why it has taken us 19 years to visit Puffing Billy again, but I can tell you I am sorry I hadn't visited sooner. It's not one of Australia's best known steam railways for no reason!
Located in the leafy Dandenong ranges of Melbourne's eastern fringe, The Puffing Billy railway is one of Australia's most successful, and popular, steam railways. Trips vary, but are usually an hour minimum each way, starting in Gembrook.
When I visited, locomotive 14a was running the trains, and can be seen in this video on it's way to Lakeside station, and then on return to Gembrook.
