Without Delta's employees helping me when I was injured in Germany I wouldnt have made it home. I will always love Delta Airlines. I had been injured during my trip at our hotel trying to get into a rental van to go to the airport and the hotel luggage loader called Delta who sent out their own van for me and my friend. When we arrived at the airport they had a personal wheelchair there for me with someone dedicated to guiding me along. He stayed with me until it was time for the plain to load a nd took me into it. He even went and got us snacks before we loaded. THEN when we got back to Phoenix, there was someone there with a wheelchir to take me home and a Delta van to take us there. He also helped me get into my apartment and settled me into my lovely soft chair. There was my building's security to carry my luggage in too. I will always tell everyone of Delta's care and kindness. They're just the best.
The only thing Delta is good at, is their social media department that creates bots like these that give these type of comments to videos and then upvote them.... come on Delta we are not idiots
We have flown Delta one a few times. There are actually 7 different Delta Ones and it makes a difference on which plane you are flying. We are actually flying the 767-400 next week and the A330 on the return.
I’m surprised you didn’t go to the exclusive Delta One check-in at LHR? Beautiful waiting area and private security. Makes the LHR experience so much better.
@@JeanClaudeCOCO the most embarrassing airline, with 100 year old flight attendants and stale food. Let alone the deteriorating airports, more like a national embarrassment.
I don’t know but they are the only thing in Heathrow that are not a mess . They have plenty of staff, you can order a complete breakfast and they serve it to you. Just great service, I’ve been in this lounge 7 times. This is in Heathrow only though, LAX has a shared lounge which is mediocre at best. One more thing, when we arrived by taxi at Heathrow they have a private Virgin check in ( and Delta) and we were walked up to security fast trac - very cool !
Its a good one but no more haircuts and spa. THey used Covid as the excuse to get rid of them and not bring them back. Its a huge club and I find the food and service great in there. For me one of the best clubs in the world.
I recently flew Delta one and yes while the seating and accommodation is a cut above. Flying United Polaris comes with much better service in my personal opinion. I also prefer the United layout as well. Great video!
Flew Polaris SFO-ZRH two weeks ago and can't confirmed. No smiles, no thank you or please. Found a used toothbrush in the storage below the screen. Gave it to the FA and she looked annoyed. Far from apologizing or anything like that. Requesting the grilled cheese midflight also had the "why are you making me work" attitude.
@@doktorjohnwatsonIt really is a hit or miss with United. You can either get exceptional service with fantastic crew and a clean airplane, or you can have an experience like yours. It would be better if there was more consistency
@@doktorjohnwatsonthat is so weird but not shocking, and I speak from having had some of the best service anywhere on United. On the big 3, I’ve seen service be both great and dismal , depending on the flight. While I love United, They should have absolutely been better on your United flight, no question.
The benefit for Delta within the US is not their soft product (which is similar to AA and UA) but their ability to run an ontime operation. They have the lowest lost luggage and has some of the best customer IT in the aviation space. Fly an ULCC and you will see the Delta difference. Delta also prides itself on not bumping paxs or canceling flights. What good is the VS Clubhouse lounge, if your flight gets canceled.
And when Delta does lose luggage, they’re good about finding it and getting it back to you in my experience. In my case I think it was the fault of the airport I flew out of. They checked my carry on and then smudged the ink.
Hi Dan, I love flying with Delta. I with them when traveling back to England from Minnesota. Also flew with them to Kauai a few times on their a321neo planes. I think Delta is probably the U.S.' best airline in my opinion. Thanks for sharing
I always fly Delta inside the US Internationally, they are a second or third choice. This is mostly because they don’t fly into some of my destinations (like Phnom Penh), so I go with airlines where I don’t have to switch around, often with different classes of service Honestly, if Delta could get me all the way to PP in Delta One, I’d do it and be delighted
As a Delta SNOB (LOL) and 100% agree with you. I am US based so they are my go-to carrier in the US. For me I am 100% the guy who tells people to fly Delta and sometimes I get that look like oh you have money however I like you Dan are a points guy and play the system in the way they have designed it. I'm all over Delta with the cards and work to earn Platinum each year. I am so close again this year. Missed it last year but think I will get it done soon. However, I am a Singapore SNOB when it comes to my international flights. San Fransico, Newark, and JFK are my choices to get me over to Singapore each year. Same flight on the way back. They have taken care of me and I love to work at redeeming points with Singapore. Nothing like the 19 hour flight! Delta and Singapore are the only carries I have flown over the ocean.
I've flown Delta One twice, once from Detroit to Honolulu and the second from Detroit to Kahului, Maui. Both were more than worth it for such long flights. Great food and service, comfortable seating/bed and privacy.
Hi Dan, I just saw your recent short about US carriers and subsidies. In my view, I agree that service in many US domestic flights often do not compare to many international air carriers offerings: Emerites, Swiss, Singapore etc. what I am hoping you might consider is to a “deep dive” into this subject. You are a journalist and these days more people get their news from RU-vid, Tik Tok, Instagram, etc. As such, you would do a great service to humanity by researching the wide array of facts and differences in service offered by the major international airlines. There are many more unique reasons other than subsidies that affect the travel industry: labor pool, unions, routes, markets, etc. Thank you for considering my idea and let me know if I could help you in anyway!
My flights are within the USA, and not coast to coast. Delta is my best option. Domestic "first class" doesn't compare to international first class, or even many business class seats, but when you compare it to the other options ...
Flew Delta in this cabin between BOS-LHR on the 767-400 and the only thing that made it seem like it was an older plane was that it’s a bit nosier in the cabin than newer aircraft. The seat and product overall were great though. Definitely the best business class of all the American legacy carriers. Great Review 👍
Although I have moved to OneWorld carriers, but I found Delta to have really amazing cabin crew on Delta business class. They had a nice option to get them to serve all the food at once.
Love your work, Dan. Any chance you may create a matrix of all the elements for the airlines & classes? I reckon a lot of people would like to know, so they can help to choose based on their priorities (seat, food, service, etc).
The Delta One suites are great one of the only suites I could actually sleep in, thats including the emirates first suite. I think it's the sound dampening in the suite.
Check the type of plane before opting for even rather than odd. I have D1 tickets on an Airbus and the odd numbered seats are closer to the window. It really differs depending on the type of plane.
I’m flying this aircraft type very soon with Delta from Edinburgh to Boston, really looking forward to it! If you’re ever in Scotland again, consider flying in/out of Edinburgh, as Delta, Virgin, United and JetBlue all serve Edinburgh!
7:01 So is getting to see one as I had the opportunity see the Boeing 767-400ER carrying the Emir of Bahrain at DXB, which, fun fact, is the only B764 that is not operated by Delta or United 😮
If you fly any business or first class flight from the states or Heathrow the catering will be bad but if you do it from any other airport the food is good to great
Dan- I was just talking to my wife about the Delta cabins vs American and some others. THe Delta cabin even on an older 737 I flew this week was very well put together. The fit and finish. I could see new carpeting , the screens for customers in first and coach etc. Its a feeling I get on the majority of my Delta flights, domestic or international. I have not flown them much international in a long time. I do fly Virgin but only on the NEO flights in Upper Class. The old seats on the other VIrgin planes suck in Upper class. When Virgin got the 787 I could not believe they installed the old crummy Upper class seats on that plane.I got slippers on American going to Sydney First lass two weeks ago. Free WIFI is on all domestic flights also. I fin the speed to me ok overall. Delta free WIFI not American or United.
I want to hear your thoughts on Air Canada. It’s the only airline i’ve flown, and I’ve had a good experience. I’m not sure if it’s just been me getting lucky and having genuinely good AC experiences, or if my standards are just that low that it makes Air Canada look good.
You HAVE to try Air India's new A350! The service and product is SO MUCH better, and They've just started international routes from Mumbai and Delhi to Dubai. They also fly quite a few domestic routes with the A350 as well!
Great Review. I just flew on the Delta A350 from Athens to Atlanta, unfortunately I was in Main Cabin since it was booked the day before and a full flight. We will be flying Virgin Atlantic Upper Class to London In October and flying back in Delta One from Rome on their A330 Neo.
I agree with the width of the laydown seats, they could be wider. The mattress pads will come eventually, look how long it takes for some things to get into motion. Delta is the first and only airline that gives their flight attendants boarding pay. United America are still fighting for this 1.5 years after Delta got this. I don't understand why this happens, but once you have a preordered special meal and your original flight is canceled, your special meal doesn't follow your new itinerary. Is something wrong with the computer system, or is it, in your case, switching to another airline? I like how you describe the reality of your flying experience. You don't leave out what is good and what is bad. Delta is an excellent carrier in the US, usually with the most on-time flights and the fewest cancellations.
I was highly impressed with JetBlue and their international flight business class. I was even more impressed with their food options compared to the other American companies
I would bet that US travelers are amongst the highest points based travelers in the world. And that makes a difference because the airlines don’t really see them as real business or first class travelers that paid for their seats they’re simply people redeeming points and that reflects on the service and experience.
I fly first class quite often. My rule of thumb is usually flights under 2 hours I will by the cheapest tickets I can buy using points. Over 2 hours business or first class. The one thing that I can say is that I don’t make any flight considerations based on the menu. Let’s be honest, people that can afford to fly business or first do so for comfort and to not be treated like cattle. I flew coach once from Tel Aviv to New York and that cured me from ever doing that again.
Hey Dan, love your reviews. We flew the A350 Delta One Capetown to Atlanta in February. The hard product experience was good not great - I had the same issue with the narrowness of the seats that you described. The food catered out of CPT was mediocre and I'm being polite. But the topper was the service - it was awful. Lets just say it was a classic case of a very senior crew booking what must be a primo route. I was really looking forward to flying Delta One on one of Delta's longest flights but was really disappointed. I've flown Delta several times since and the service has been great. And compared to the Qatar Qsuites we flew on the way to Africa...not in the same league.
I think I agree with most Americans when you fly domestically, and we know domestic first class/business class sucks for a country where a domestic flight can be five hours long, they are the best! They actually use the same product they would use internationally quite often. You don’t get that from other legacy carriers. However, with that said, I do not fly them internationally. Because I know there is better product and service out there for international flights.
I am headed to Japan in 3 weeks from the US. I’m flying into Osaka and out of Haneda. I’m trying out the long haul premium economy from ATL - ICN on their A350 Same class on the return but HND - LAX on the A330neo. Considering the delta one upgrade is the same price as my purchase price I think I’ll pass. Thoughts?
Impressive however there is a catch to Delta one when flying across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans is that the sky team partners on the opposite sides of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans are way better than them. If you want to do that easily fly Atlanta to South Korea KE036 vs DL27/189. You will find out the Korean Air flight is much better. Oddly when they were first introduced you would have actually ended up doing something like this DL ATL-NRT-MNL all on Delta One vs KE036 to KE623 the latter one would end up winning. NYC it's a different case to MNL EWR/JFK-DTW-ICN Delta One with Korean Air Prestige class ICN-MNL vs Korean Air 082/086 to 621/623 vs PR127
Delta One is the best out of the big 3 (Delta,American and United). Just flown Delta One from lax-London. Enjoyed it from the beginning. Lax has private check n for Delta One and the check in and security took less than 15 minutes. That alone will make me only fly Delta One if I ever fly first class again
I prefer United’s Illy Italian based coffee to American based Starbucks which is awful… Illy is so much better and much more expensive than Starbucks…. I just flew United and found the slippers to be so comfy from LHR to LAX. The mattress was great. I switched from American to Delta. Now I’ve switched to United… I have to say that the airline that hated for years, United, is now my favorite…
Personally for me, I live in Atlanta which is where Delta has its worldwide headquarters! Due to us having the busiest airport in the world and also being home to Delta, I often get direct flights anywhere I go without having to get layovers! Any other major US airline, I would 9/10 have to get a layover in one of their hubs which is why Delta is so efficient for me 🙂
I fly regularly with Delta, preferably with the Airbus 330NEO or the A350, and most of the time in Delta One, the food out of Amsterdam is exquisite, Edinburgh is okay, similar to London, Dublin is good too! I still think business with North West at the time before the merger, was way better, their food was excellent, the deserts were to die for! Their cabins crew were amazing, on many occasions, they treated me like a king. KLM and Air France and Lufthansa, are okay also, but I preferably fly with Delta.
Liked just for the ERAs merch 😉 Great review Dan! It seems that delta has slacked off and United offers just as - better (subjective) business class service. Given how obsessed Scott Kirby is for delta that part doesn’t surprise me. Keep up the great work
My first time leaving the south of South America was in Delta doing Santiago - Atlanta (and LATAM jfk - Santiago the way back), and also my first time in Business (hehe, flying Cl, Ar, Uy is only premium eco). The food and flat bed was awesome, but enjoyed a lot more on LATAM, better food, WAY better wine, and Delta One is somehow narrow seat compared to LATAM Also, I used and then regretted the wifi, was the only place where I input my email, after a couple of days I was starting to be bombarded with awfully scammy spam directed to us citizens, around 40 spam emails per month for the last year. Really disappointed on Delta por A. Selling my email; B. No caring enough about data privacy and security
