I knew this game would go bad real quick when its gameplay was revealed in 2017 during E3, something about it just looked too good to be true. BioWare kept fans updated about Mass Effect Andromeda in the years towards its release, but with Anthem, they gave no updates about it.
The game seemed super fun, the devs were really open about everything before the release, and D2 wasnt doing well at the time so everyone was looking for a better looter game. but we all know how that went. PS I preordered this game; The Pain Is Real
The game had UNREAL levels of potential. The flight was absolutely perfect. Even better when paired with the combat. The best class, Interceptor was an absolute blast to play… but the devs just didnt care about their own game and let it sink. What a sad, shamefull waste. Still gutted till this day.
My friends and I were so hyped for anthem and we actually grinded it for maybe a month, but you can only run the same stronghold trying to get masterwork gear for so long before you give up lol
"I feel like this games biggest crime is that it's just boring" This is exactly it. Me and a friend played for a while and had fun flying around causing chaos, but there wasn't really anything compelling. The one thing we did feel compelled to do was some tedious challenge that unlocked a pair of antlers for us, and after that we quit.
Same, me and my brother bought it on sale for like $14 and while it was fin for a bit and I loved the mech suits I specifically remember doing missions and just never once feeling like we were truly in danger.
Content was the biggest issue When you could actually Yah know PLAY THE GAME It was a phenomenal experience and so much fun to play but once all was said and done there wasn't much else to do
Man, the gameplay, sound design, visual design were all amazing. The classes had good division between them with clear roles and functions they served. We just didn’t get SHIT for content to put those through, and it makes my bones ache.
@@smoothduck7151 When you include the campaign, 4 strongholds and a seasonal event Cataclysm. It all comes to around 28hrs+ worth of a content which is about right for a video game nowadays
I was so excited for this game- honestly one of the biggest burns I've had from a game in a long time. It was also the game that taught me not to preorder anymore, no matter what "bonuses and exclusives" preordering might provide.
Not to mention the customization both cosmetic and mods. You could change the material AND the color, and the mods (to me) felt like they actually did smth
@@mementopinto7545 But nothing new will ever be introduced? It lacked so much in end game, the raids were horrible, and not to mention the LACK of raids you could do after the story was done. But yeah, the entirety of the gameplay was fun.
Playing as the triple jump mech was pretty darn fun during the beta. And then the raid mission kept crashing and I gave up. Really sad they couldn't deliver on this. Bioware is an empty shell of what it once was.
@@nicholasstevens9799 Repeat that multiple times over and you're correct. Many core staff people have trickled out through the years. Practically nobody who significantly contributed to Mass Effect is left there.
The moves of the characters and the abilitis are just 10/10, the people in charge of that work so dam well. This could have been a awesome game. I feel its good anyway.
@@What_In_This_World Naw. They had the right idea in the beginning. They just failed to implement it. I actually did have a lot of fun playing it for about 2 months when it was free on PS+. But that's about all it's worth playing. That being said, I also enjoyed the Marvel game that had Iron Man in it. The game most people hated.
Honestly if I do get become a game designer one day I want to remake this game, start from scratch on the gameplay and story but keep the environment and background lore
@@robertgray3710 That’s a risk I’m willing to take, and who knows if my team and I have the right ideas at the right time it might actually be considered
keep the gameplay, it was one of the best things about the game mate. Literally all you gotta do is give the game more content and support, and it will thrive.
Honestly, i logged a long-ass time in this game. Thomping around in the Colossus was the closest to Hulkbuster Simulator that I'd gotten to play. Everything about that javelin felt powerful. Our friend group had tons of fun! But honestly...we ran out of content really really fast. This game had so much potential that they wasted. And when I heard they cancelled the 2.0 rework, it broke my heart.
I was so hyped for Anthem’s release and now I play it once every three months and play a single mission before remembering I could be doing literally anything else
Funny thing about this game, I was able to get this Christmas 2022 for free from the first GameStop I checked at, however I could not find any physical copy of Babylon’s fall at the 7 GameStops I went to.
Man, I remember when the beta came out, but no one could play, not even the devs. For the whole weekend the beta was available literally no one played it, and had to wait till the beta cams back, or wait till the game releases. I finally played the game when it become free on gamepass, and was excited they might make a 2.0 version(there was no 2.0 version.) And the game was just unplayable. Game kept freezing, but I had control of the camera for some reason.
Unpopular opinion: I got it on sale for under $2 and actually had fun. Didn't have troubles finding anyone to play with either. The story is meh, but the gameplay was alright I thought. Only thing that sucks is EA realized they couldn't milk players for money and pulled the plug so there's no updates or new missions or anything. But for the price I felt I got my money's worth by far. I definetly wouldn't have paid full price though. If I did pay full price my opinion might be different lol. But yeah I thought it was alright
i remember buying this as soon as it arrived in the shelves, just to spend 3 weeks to get past a game crashing bug in the beginning of the game while in a cutscene. i even recorded my screen and uploaded it via youtube, sent it in ea forums, the devs tickets and so on. when i finally was able to get past the bug, the game gave me another one. in the end i was fighting more against connectivity issues then against ingame enemies. i stopped playing the game for a while because of frustration and came back later, it then worked fine for me, just to read 2 weeks later they abandon it. fml
Fucking loved this game just because of the interceptor class and the customization. I made Pepsi man and it was the coolest fucking shit to just go around beating Coca Cola ass
One of the greatest game tragedies of this century lol. So much potential. Honestly I reinstall at least once a year just to fly around. It still has unbeatable flight mechanics.
Believe it or not EA isn't to blame for once In fact you can thank Andy Wilson for flying being in the game cuz they were gonna take it out of the game and he literally went "this is shit put flying back in" This game is a victim of Bioware itself mismanaging the shit out of it
I'll never forgive EA for cutting funding for this game out of nowhere when BioWare was IN THE PROCESS of fixing the game and making the AAA game it was supposed to be. They gave some bs reason, but it's clear EA just didn't want to spend money on it. There's a reason as to why EA is in the top 5 worst companies in the gaming industry. I just hope a dev team makes an offer on Anthem, and it gets sold off to someone who actually cares.
Anthem is fun and it's not confusing if you're not brain dead but the content is lacking due to them stopping support on it early because they didn't deliver exactly what they promised and it kind of flipped hard however they could easily pick it back up fix it and revive it with dlc or just a whole new remake
It’s crazy how hard they missed on this…I remember seeing a preview and thinking “no shot you wiff with iron man vs aliens in open world…o it’s EA I’m not preordering.” Always listen to that little voice in your head.
Anthem is my comfort game. It's impossible for me to get upset playing it. I've played anthem so much to the point where one of my javelins has a legendary gear score. It's not that impressive but so little people play it that it might as well be. In my opinion, anthem is a good game, it just lacks content. If they added a longer less complex campaign, pvp, arena's, and more classes/add sub classes it could be way more fun and interactive. I'm grateful the game is still up even if I'm one of the three people that play it. o7 I'll be at your funeral, anthem.
I still play Anthem front to back for its mechsuit madness regularly. Reminded me of a Mech Assault style game with light fantasy aspects when it came out and it managed to scratch the itch pretty well.
I'm still disappointed this game failed. Had so much potential! Wish they would have given it until after the update they had planned. I hope they sell the property to someone who will build upon the concept and mechanics because there is a great game here.
I really don't understand why people hate this game, it's very fun, it's more fun when playing with other people, yes the story is almost non existent but that doesn't mean the game is bad, I've played this game from release date and it's still fun to this day, it's just like outriders, warframe and destiny
I LOVE ANTHEM! I ALWAYS HAD FUN ALONE... WITH RANDOS ONLINE OR WITH FRIENDS! Too bad they diddent continue the support. A combination of a poorly handled launch.. a few issues with performance and THE FUCKING INTERNET TROLL MOB! I'm ACTUALLY SAD ITS GONE! SOOO MANY FUN HOURS PLAYING ANTHEM.. RIP.. aand.. PLEASE COME BACK! YOU WERE SOOOOO UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT! whatashame!
1:02 honestly about as funny as playing gambit. In all seriousness I miss the gambit prime especially the armour effects. Gambits needs more maps as well as reworks.
As a non-picky gamer I actually really really enjoy the gameplay of Anthem in fact it's one of the greatest gameplay experiences of all time. The only reason people hate this game is because it not the same as the map shown in the trailer, after that no one gave it a proper try.
So I just started playing again yesterday and here's my take after I beat the campaign and grinded a little bit I took a break and after coming back, it still has some fun moments but not enough content or lore to make it compelling and not enough enemies but it's not the worst game but theirs better
I still love the game, but I was forced to stop. Last time I tried playing it, it wouldn't connect. I heard from a buddy of mine that the servers shut down
Honestly, I'm personally enjoying it. I can understand why people don't like it tho. I paid like $8 for the Legion of Dawn edition. And I think it's worth it so far. Like, would I have bought it full price? Ehhhhh, jury is out on that one. But I'm enjoying the game. Like, I'm not kidding, I really am. When the servers aren't trying to boot me off, and I'm actually able to play the game lol, I do have a ton of fun. The designs look great, some of the lore behind the game is great. The cinematics looks amazing. All that being said, there is one glaring issue. My only issue really with the game is the servers suck and they keep booting me off the servers. And it's hard to get immersed in an amazing looking game when the servers keep trying to boot you off. And like, I got amazing internet and I have a hardline to the router, and I constantly check the connection with my computer. So, ik it's not me lol. And I have a friend who's recently been getting into the game as well and has the same issues and he's on a console.
That's weird. I was on ps4 and had no issues. But yeah I agree with you. When it's this cheap it's worth buying. I can say I definetly wouldn't pay full price though lol
@@anothergamingchannel2656 Yea, other than the servers being a dick, I do enjoy the game. But it does really suck since I play it on PC and I know I have great connection lol and when the game keeps booting me off, it's like, nahhhhh.
I would just get it when it's this price. Just because he didn't like it doesn't mean you won't. Just scrolling through the comments proves there's plenty of people who didn't agree. Plus it's only $2. Even if it sucks its not like you could buy much with $2
I played at launch, was kinda young but I absolutely loved it and the world, the design of the suits, it was actually fun. However once I finished the main story it got stale fast and never touched it again lol
Same boat man, I remember absolutely loving the game when it first came out and as I played through the campaign. I remember wanting more as I beat the last boss… But then there wasn’t really anything left to do…
