Still no ex raid pass but at least I caught a 100% IV maxed out Lotad in the rain and it is one of my favorite Pokemon ❤️

We have an entire city of 60k+ that has yet to see a single EX Raid since the system went live (over 150 gyms locally). It’s not even just about players like me (lvl 40, 400+ Raids, gold on dozens of gyms), it’s an entire city that’s been left out, and the entire local community is up in arms about it.

I got a pass for today. Only 3 showed up and we got screwed...

What would I do? I don't have enough players in my town to defeat EX raid

I'm in Burbank, got my first and only EX raid pass for Christmas day at a gym I rarely battle at, but happened to do a legendary raid at on the right day, at the right time... and within an hour, there was my pass. Fortunately, people showed up so I caught my Mewtwo and the raiding only took about 15 minutes out of my Christmas schedule. So it's totally random. I didn't do anything special to deserve it, but I'm glad that I got it! Might venture down to the Pike on Tues. to say hello, Nick-would love to meet you before you change coasts!

Grats on the Ex-Raid pass. I agree that the system isn't very good. But it is true that raiding at all starbucks and sprint gyms around your area will definitely give you a higher chance of getting a pass. I never see youtubers raiding at these gyms, that's why you guys never get a pass.

Something Draconius Go has going for it is quests. If Pokémon Go would have quests for every day, then after, let’s say 10 (just a random number) quests completed in a row you get an EX raid pass would be a better way to get people more active more often and give a clear goal on how to achieve the raid pass.

Congrats Nick! I got mine too. The funny thing is when I did multiple raids (5-20+) everyday from Sept-Dec, I didn't get one. (It made me quite demotivated at that time.) After I took a break, became less active, stopped buying coins and just do one free pass per day, I've been getting a pass on every single wave after that. My first invite was on the 17th Dec, the night after the meetup session with you in SG (Hougang). I gotten 2 more passes from the 4th and 8th Jan wave. Maybe taking a short break, becoming less active is the solution to get an Ex Pass. xD

I caught my first Mewtwo few hours ago! :)

I finally completed my first EX Raid today, but my idea for improving EX Raids is to make them more common, but they're a tier 3 that you have to solo. So Mewtwo would be roughly the difficulty of Alakazam. It would encourage people to build a team of counters to defeat him. Gengar, Banette, Tyranitar, Houndoom, Scizor, Pinsir, Dragonite on a windy day. There would be many options. It would be rewarding to build a team like that and to get a shot at Mewtwo.

I think once a trainer reach a certain level, they automatically get one EX Raid Pass. After that it go to the regular process of raiding, gym control or what ever Niantic decided. Then when you reach that level, you get a EX Raid Pass and can't say you never got one.

I expercienced my first EX raid today. 500km from my home. Only 6 people showed up, and we couldn't beat Mewtwo. Niantic, this system needs to change.

I've said it a bunch of times in the comments. Every gym should have the option to "initiate" an EX raid. That way people can earn a pass somehow (not always just through raiding! give us daily missions!) then when your raid group has enough EX raid passes you can get together and start one where you plan.

Getting a Ex Raid pass is like winning the Lottery or getting that really rare loot in a game its suppose to be special and rare but if everyone had it whats then so special about it?

High level players do thousands of raids, but all over the city. That's why they don't get invited. Having an Invite is more about insisting in a strategic gym or set of gyms. My town never had an EX, last weekend we decided to do every raid in just one gym. We torn that gym apart and we got our first EX Invites.

Lucky you. I've personally seen 3 people now, and hard of many others, who only played while home for the holidays get ex raid passes. While the many other people who they are playing with, and have been playing and going to all the same raids and many more, do not get passes. Almost as if they are catering more to the new players to get them hooked and feel more obligated to play when they go home. While they know the people who have been playing the whole time will likely keep doing so.

i just recently joined a pokemon go community from my city, and they have a strategy to farm ex raid, they made a map of gyms that are aimed, neutral and not to do, the most active ones have a bunch of mewtwo

I got my first pass last week. I was kind of in shock I got one, as I'd given up on it. Like how I've given up on ever getting a shiny. I planned all week for it. Made sure my team had the gym beforehand, as I had over 160 golden razz to defend it with, and a teammate had 150. I even set 5 alarms, and got my girlfriend to call me if I didn't message her before a certain time. After all the hype, all the waiting, I was disappointed with how easy it was. Granted, we had 14 people, mostly 40 or close to it and Tyranitars beat it down in seconds. Mine wasn't even close to being perfect at 73% and I doubt I'll even power it. It's a rare candy dump to empty bag space until I get a better one, assuming I ever do. In the end, it was nothing more than a Pokedex entry. A super rare one, difficult to get. Arguably harder than regionals unless you have a big enough wallet or you spoof to get them. The hype is nothing more than a cash grab by Niantic, "do more raids for better odds, but you gotta buy them!" It's like a really bad loot box system. In fact, I'd argue that countries which have laws involving gambling can now associate them with Pokemon GO. EX raid passes are a lottery system.

If you care about this community at all, you'll boycott the EX raid.

The EX raid invite should reward those who play a lot. I have seen people with seldom used accounts getting invites which is ridicules.

My problem with the ex raid system is that some areas don’t get any ex raids. No players in my area have gotten ex passes. Myself and the other 40’s haven’t and neither have any of the lower level players.

Caught my first mewtwo today, it’s been a real chore to get a pass, but it was worth it, socially speaking it’s been the best raiding experience yet... people were so genuinely excited :3

Grats on the invite. I am going for my 6th next week. 3 at sprint, 2 at Starbucks, and 1 at a park. If you are looking for one, try to hit the sponsored ones near you if you can. The parks have been weird. People who barely raid and don't even have a bronze medal get passes over those with gold

I feel like the weather system isn't very accurate. An example being, i went to the Santa Monica Pier and the fog was so thick you couldn't see 25 feet in front of you, and in-game it was party cloudy.

People seem to have forgotten what the "EX" in EX raid even means. It mean "EXCLUSIVE". It wouldn't be very exclusive if everyone and their mother got an EX pass even single wave. I only got my first EX pass this December (the Dec 25th EX raid), and I never complained once the 4-5 months leading up to me getting my first. Only 40 people are selected to get an EX pass for each gym each wave. So if you live in an area where there are hundreds, if not thousands of people raiding every week, your chances of getting one are slim even if you have a high level badge and raid frequently. At this point I've gotten 2 EX passes (Dec 25th & Jan 9th), and it seems to me that your best bet for getting an EX pass is to assemble a large group of people and do chain raiding at gyms located in parks. Remember that only 30% or so of EX raids happens at sponsored locations. About 65-69% of EX raids happens in parks, the remainig however many percent happens at statues or random locations. So grab a crap-ton of people, find a gym at a park and raid like crazy.
