I did the math on this thing before it got added, it has the same amount of kinetic energy on impact as your average 500 kg bomb (about 250 kg tnt equivalent). Instead of all of that being forced outwards, like with a bomb, it all gets absorbed by the tank you hit. With most ground targets and plenty of coastal ships, there shouldn't even be a semblance of a trace of their vehicle still remaining after a single hit, but Gaijin just ignores that for some reason. Go figure

Because "balance" can't have a vehicle designed to one shot another vehicle in the game actually one shot someone. (So why have it there in the first place?) @@n1thecaptain965

as should any HE shell beyond 100mm diameter(no. no mbt can take an 125mm HE shell to the center of the mass and keep driving). but then you would cry "nerf russia" xD it really doesnt matter, though as even military found this bullshit failure of a vehicle and moved on to other projects.

​@@seushimarejikaze1337the vehicle is just a testbed, they wouldn't of used this specific vehicle. The missle was seen as highly effective but was more expensive and put strain on logistics if it were put into use while tow missiles did the job almost just as well.

@@gavinlightfoot5521 thats one way to see it, true. i simply see it as: experimental vehicle that failed, not because it didnt work but either because it didnt fit military requirements or because it didnt manage to find its niche in the ranks. the way it was reloaded basically placed this thing in in weird position on the battlefield, where its rearmed same way as long range artillery, but its required to fight on relatively close ranges(having high maximum range doesnt mean you will be able to use it -current and past world conflicts show that clearly). missiles weighted about 80kg, so the reload process was relatively long to add salt to injury. and you pointed out another flaw. cost of the missile. military always balances on notion of lowest costs for maximum performance. such a weapon was unneeded simply because you could just upgrade previous projects, that already have working logistical solutions. i do realize, that similar project got funded in limited numbers - the CKEM missile launcher (i dunno the original name, look it up if you want) that got mounted on lighter and more mobile vehicles like the "humvee". hell it would have been better option to add to the game vehicles that actually passed military trials and model its armament correctly instead of adding vehicle that failed and also wrongly modeling the damage that a rocket propelled slab of steel(or tungsten or DU... i dont know this either ;] ) would actually do to whatever vehicle.

Thing is, this is the perfect type of experimental vehicle that can be added to the game. A gimmick that can be effective under certain situations The other end of the prototype vehicles which shouldn’t have been added is the 2S38.

The vehicle is really good, it was made to shoot after and kill before an APFSDS at distances that an APFSDS cannot reach. The problem is that these missiles are absurdly nerfed, the Mach 5 impact alone should kill everyone without wanting to penetrate. FV4005 with double asteroids. The gaijin doesn't care about this fact, because LOSAT really is powerful. The game doesn't really have a niche for it, it's balanced maps. LOSAT was made for flat relief with the idea of ​​being exposed. It was discontinued for the same reason, a weapon with few scenarios to be employed

@@observador0174 more like mach 4 and every apfsds in the game travels at the same speeds or faster. if vehicle was good, it woulnt fail evaluation and would be produced(even test batch was cancelled). only problem is, it still should cause significant amount of spall inside a vehicle, in case it penetrates, which it magically doesnt, but its the same as with other type of munitions that should cause lot of damage, but doesnt because gaijin never have hears of Newton xD (high caliber HE explosives should be really effective whether they penetrate armor or they dont, same way that bombs should not need to penetrate the target to damage it beyond repair)

i think there is a big difference between 5400km/h and 7080km/h, but maybe thats just me lol. anyway if you have any reports about damage it does to fully armored mbt with or without NERA/ERA protection (which you certainly dont, since vehicle wasnt even approved for a test batch) feel free to enlighten.

The projectile weighs 78.92 kg according to the wiki, with a velocity of 1520 m/s. The formula for kinetic energy is (0.5*mass)*velocity squared in kg and m/s respectively, or 39.46*2,310,400, which is 91,168,384 J or about 21.7 kg of TNT. For context, the Leopard 2A6, with the current strongest shell in the game (AFAIK, I haven't been paying as much attention to top tier as I should) achieves 7,569,000 J or about 1.8 kg of TNT, literally less than a tenth of this missile, and yet, I can quite regularly and quite easily one shot targets with this shell, even though its kinetic energy is an entire order of magnitude below the LOSAT's missiles. That's not even mentioning the post pen effects that would logically occur when an entire bloody telephone pole violently enters your tank, especially compared to a 120mm dart round, which while not exactly small, is still a mouse next to a cat compared to the LOSAT's missiles. Sure, they weren't tested IRL on modern targets, but math, combined with a bit of common sense, can still show us that they are clearly vastly underperforming.
