The chop top deserves a deep lip. Especially with a classic motorsport wheel like BBS. Someone else commented about 0 lip looking like hub caps and it is 100% accurate. Truth be told, the 5 spoke epsilons look absolutely perfect. I get wanting to change it up though.
I'd love to see one of your Corvairs back with the Cragars, I really loved that look when I found your IG back then, but those E50 on deep dish on the chop top could look killer 🌝
Really dig the idea of suicide rear doors on the 4 door Corvair. BTW, my 1st car was a ‘66 2 door Monza automatic I bought from my dad in ‘74 for 150 bucks. Still had the “Hey Culligan Man” decals on both doors and leaked oil by the gallon! Still wish I had that car today.
The gf is right that car looks perfect with the epsilons but excited to see the mesh wheels on there (I'm a spoke wheel kinda guy) also loving the idea of the 4 door corvair on air with those wheels and suicide doors .
My Dad was prez of the Baystate Corvair Club for a number of years back in the late 90s- early 2000s, I still have my club name pin, I grew up around them. Nice to see a younger guy like me into them, as back then it was mostly older folks. I'd still love to do a Subaru H6 swap into a late coupe, but found myself a little '69 Toyota Corona 2dr Hardtop to play with 1st. I love the patina/survivor look, thats what I'm going for with the 'rona. The BBSs are so sick, my guy! I redid my split 4 spoke American Racing 14s, but I'm thinking larger and tucked with bags. Bummer for me (good for you), I just moved back to Mass lol, would have loved to see you around the show circuit here. Keep it up!
Wow, what a find. E50 is just pure awesome. I am in love with the old BBS and my dream set is the E30 which is no where to be found around here. The hunt goes on.. Happy for you and the find!
E50s for sure on the chop top. IMHO though keep the barrels or do deeper lips. not a fan of the no lip. vintage wheels deserve more lip not less haha! keep it up dude and cant wait for the 4door madness!
the Corvair is amazing. I am a fan of the BBS wheels just like they are. the current rims are beautiful but the patina of the BBS rims will be magic on the corvair with all the patina. The Epsilons will be nice on the white car.
Seeing the soccer kids check out your ride is cool! I supported my Alma Mater and let the middle school soccer team washed my Notch 😂 Wheel collecting is addictive 😅 im at 6 sets in 4x130 I like the Mesh!
I think you should put the E50's on the crew cab Corvair. Although I agree with the zero lip sentiment in the comments, it'd actually be a nice change to see deep dish E50's for a change (although I may have just seen too many being a VW guy).
Seeing your fast back next to the Audi reminded me a saw on FB some where a guy body swapped square back onto an early 2000s golf/gti. You should keep that in mind.
I'm not really a fan of zero lip on the E50s, I prefere them w/ a 1 inch lip so that the centre is flush. As for the 4 door, given that one of my dream cars is a Rover P5B coupe with a suicide door conversion, I am very exited.
Those new mesh joints will look so good on the two door but like you said, more lip>zero lip. Epsilons go hard but after 10 years it’s time for some new shoes
The BBS basket-weave centers DO almost perfectly match the gold tint of the lower body patina on the Monza, so I'm voting for them. Can always go back if you get an offer you can't refuse for the BBS s. I agree about using the Epsilons on the 4door, and also don't find the zero-lip style attractive AT ALL. Besides, who wants 5" thick spacers, and too much strain on your wheel bearings?
I kinda like the five spoke wheels. Personally I’d try to find some vintage American five spokes, though. (Cargar SS or similar.) If they’re available in the correct size/offset, that is… The BBS wheels are better suited for older Euro cars in my mind. I love how they look on a E21 or E23, for example. (Damn, I miss my old ‘79 E21 that I had in the early 90’s! If I had had the money it would have had BBS wheels. Instead I had some cheap Alpina style 15’s.)
I got SSR Mesh cause I knew I wouldn't find some e50s anytime soon lol. I think the other wheels look better but might be because they are silver and don't clash with the car. But would love to seem actually fitted and maybe a silver center 🤔 but the patina of the original wheel is cool too 😅
💯💯💯💯💯💯tbe current wheels👌🏻 Buuuut… sometimes you just need a change. So fit the 5spoke… ‘for a while’ But the bbs ARE NOT this cars forever wheels. It’s 5spokes are.
