I FINALLY Played Pokémon Black 2 White 2 

Black/white 2 was such a good sequel. Wish they did more third entry games or direct sequels they are so much fun

Fun fact about Cheren and Bianca. If you use the Memory Link feature, you can transfer some of your save data from Black 1 & White 1 to B2W2. And if you do this, you can find Cheren and Bianca in the region and battle them with the team they used in your B1W1 save file. It’s really cool :)

I can't get over how this game introduced actual difficulty modes but locked them in the most convoluted way possible by having to complete and link both versions. B2W2 really does a great job in making exploring the same map feel so fresh again, there's lots more areas and towns and even the reused sections of Unova get fantastic redesigns.

My take about the unova remake is that they should make a completely new game set in unova like 10 years into the future. New gyms, new elite four, new rivals, new evil teams and a new story. But full of references to the og games. Maybe Cheren could be the champion, Bianca could be the professor, Iris could be running Dryden's gym, we could have the Striaton city gym back and it could be a mid game triple battle. There's so much you could do, and it would be another "first time" for pokemon, just like b2w2 was. Edit. And you could also include some indigo disk characters. For example Lacey being a gym leader or Drayton just chilling with his dragons and being a cool post game battle

I was graduating high school when these games came out. Had a great summer before college.

There's also the medal system that this game introduces. Gen 6 had it, too, but it was part of Global Link sadly. Tbh imo, the medals are the true meat of these games. It's definitely what will keep people playing for a long time and it is so satisfying for completionists like myself.

I got this game on release day at 13, at a time when most of my peers dismissed childhood franchises for "grown up" things. Playing it at that time felt like Pokemon couldn't become any better and felt just as wondrous for a 13 y/o, as I started my pokemon gaming journey few years earlier with the first ds games diamond/pearl. It felt a bit lonely being either none or one of very few who got it, as everyone who maybe got it probably hid their interest from everyone else. To this day I'll never regret standing strong with my childhood interests, as I feel lucky to have this game available on cartridge and enjoy replaying it on my console. The changes from b/w were and still are magical. I'd like to also put forward the amazing music in this game: Castelia gym, Nimbasa gym, Colress battle, Undella town, Village Bridge and even more I don't remember. The instruments of ingame npc's vowen into different areas and soundtracks gave a whole new way of life and interactivity to the world. And the game literally had human VOICES sprinkled in the soundtrack.

I loved gen 5. I like the aesthetic, the pixel art is gorgeous imo. Hugh was definetly my fav gen 5 rival, but N is cool too.even today I still think Kyurem black/white is a really cool concept. also simpler times..when I listen to gen 5 music I feel nostalgic but also a little sad.

I love this generation. It's my favourite of the series as GameFreak had the balls back then to come up with an opposing team that challenged Pokémon at its core principle: is it moral to catch Pokémon in pokeballs and use them for battles?

Oh trust me, you haven't even seen half of the content in b2w2 (based on what you directly mentioned). Catching N's pokemon he used in bw's main game, seeing sabrina's acting career soar, the abyssal ruins dungeon raid, the trade sidequest, the JILTed sidequest, the cresselia sidequest, the memory link cutscenes filling in gaps from the time skip, the regi quests, meeting alder's grandson benga & doing both the black tower and white tree hollow dungeon treks, the nature preserve, battling N's season-based teams, and exploring all the seasonal changes between routes.... as not only do the seasons change the look of the routes, but different seasons open up unique areas for certain routes. That's not even getting into all the hidden areas that are available by revisiting routes with more HMs. There's just sooo much stuff crammed in there. Oh, and while you're not a fan of battling, i would recommend trying out the PWT in the post game. In the post game, there's tournaments featuring the kanto, johto, hoenn, and sinnoh gym leaders respectively - as well as a champion's tournament featuring champions from gens 1-4.

Black and White 2 are still my favourite mainline Pokemon games of all time. Really like it was a sequal and not a enhanced version. This should always be the case in my opinion with Pokemon games. It was so good to see all the changes in the Unova region with a brand new plot. Also there was just so much to do. The only game I spent over 500 hours and all when we didn't even had online. That's crazy how much effort they put into these games. Generation 5 in general is my favourite of all time because both games were so good. Glad a lot of people are knowing this more and more

Back in Gen5, Pokemon games weren't worldwide releases yet. If we follow the Japanese timeline, BW was released in 2010 while BW2 was released in 2012, so it's actually a 2 year gap that reflects the in game time skip. This was an intentional setting as Gen2 was effectively a 3 year later sequel for Gen1, while in Japan Red/Green released 1996 and Gold/Silver released 1999, also a 3 year gap between the games.

I'm really glad that the rumours of a Unova remake were untrue. If the game came out that early after ScaVi I would be so scared for the polish they were able to give it. Games with as much heart as the B/W era need special attention and time to make right

Pokemon HeartGold's and SoulSilver's graphics are good but there's no doubt that Pokemon Black and White and Black 2 and White 2 have better graphics. GameFreak improved their pixel art skill from Gen 4 going into Gen 5. Sadly we'll likely never see pixel art from GameFreak again which is a unique and in my opinion a better art style than the boring 3D graphics that everyone and their mother uses these days. Pixel art requires more imagination and improvisation which is what make them ao good and even now I can go back to these older games with the pixel art graphics from the DS Pokemon games and they look better to me than the 3D graphics of the Pokemon games on the Switch.

I LOVED this generation and I can't say there's EVER been a gen where I liked ALL the Fire types in some way by proxy.

These games were my favorite before S/V. The story was amazing and I really loved the continuity of N with the past legendary. Music is also up there too. Colress, Aspertia, Join avenue, Marine Tube, and Nimbasa gym!! 🎶 Give me what I neeeeeeed!!🎵

These are some of my favorite Pokémon games too, even if I didn't really follow the franchise at the time of their release or own a physical copy of them. The abundance of content is great, and I could talk about them so much. I'm not sure what Pokémon game I'd call my favorite, but these are in my top 5, at the very least. Maybe even in top 3. I wonder what sort of representation of Unova will get in future games. With Kalos being the next region we'll visit, it's hard to tell which old region will be remade in one way or another next. Game Freak likes being unpredictable.

Sorry again for the long comment lmao BW2 are also very special games to me, and are the *perfect* length for me to re-play them over and over, unlike HGSS and ScVi, which are both way too long. Since they're our only regional sequels, they blew my mind the first time I played them, and seeing all the big and small ways Unova had changed in just a couple years was so fun to discover. I definitely agree with the Pokédex, BW's is one of my absolute favourite things about it, but I think it would have been unnecessary to also limit players to Unovan Pokémon for the sequels, and the added variety in approaches made the generation much more memorable. How could we talk about change and not return to Cheren and Bianca, their character arcs finishing beautifully in ways that still perfectly fit the truth and ideals philosophy they were part of in the originals; Cheren is now the first step in many trainers' journey to become their ideal selves, and is perfect for the role as we have witnessed his own personal growth across his story, and Bianca is now someone who investigates the truth of the world in her work as a professor, and helps the player throughout the story so that they can discover the truths of Unova too. I will say it's a shame that more characters didn't change quite so much, with only these two, Elesa, and Iris getting new designs (maybe to show that the youngsters are still figuring themselves out while Drayden and Clay know who they are?), but I'm glad locations and every Gym at least had a revamp. Hugh is also a fantastic rival, and it's really refreshing having our rival be actually impacted by the evil team, besides Silver I don't think that's ever happened before or since. BW2's gameplay was definitely a step up from BW imo, because of how much there is to do. It doesn't look like much now but Join Avenue was great back in the day, Iris is one of the best Champions in the franchise, Seasons are significantly more impactful this time around, and BW2 has both a (poorly implemented) difficulty system and an achievement system through the medals, marking firsts for the series! Not to mention the huge postgame and PWT. Plus, if you had played BW, you could transfer over your data, get REALLY cool scenes showing what happened between games and fight both Cheren and Bianca with the starters they chose in your BW! I am genuinely terrified for Gen 5 remakes. After the absolute sham that was BDSP, I can't bare to see Gen 5 get mangled like Gen 4 was. This is especially worrying because Gen 5 is such a weird one to remake - remaking BW without BW2 is fine but a shame (and comes with the same criticisms BW had back then), remaking BW2 without BW is ridiculous, and remaking both is, let's be honest, not something Gamefreak is probably willing to do. There's also Fairy being an annoyance, as only Cottonee and Whimsicott have access to the Type, and they're version exclusives. When your Champion and villain both have an incredibly powerful Pokémon quad weak to a version exclusive Type... yeah, that won't go over well. Would love to see more "retrospective" style videos from you for the other Gens! Maybe including the team you used, it's nice seeing who people bring with them. Maybe you could even tackle some spin offs if you have any interest?

in the postgame of the PWT, you can battle every single gym leader and champion from prior games with remakes to their themes. THIS ate so many hours of my life and i loved every second of it

To my knowledge, Black2 and White2 are the only pokemon games that give you the option to skip tutorial dialogue, making them automatic S tier in my book.

Also, remakes are no longer necessary now that Legends games have replaced their role in going back to previous regions. Perhaps we'll get one in Unova in Gen 10.

I knew a lot of people who played Gen. 5 in community college. I stopped playing after the GameCube games. But after my cousin gave me his 3DS. I got back into them again and just got Soul Silver in box yesterday

One of the best pokemon game in my opinion. Edit- If I remember correctly N used a purrlion in the first battle against us in the originals, I think there is a theory that the purrlion N used belonged to our rivals sister .

This is a one. I just completed it a few days ago. I said 'completed' but there are some parts I couldnt complete because you will need a console device to function then. I played on PC Emulator, instead.

The Black and White and B2 & W2 remakes need to use 2D3D like Octopath Traveller or we don't want it.

The ending is intentionally left open handed so it feels like it’s the conclusion but also vague enough for a possible third entry. After the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes left people condensed and disappointed, more people are hoping for Unova to be left untouched and preserve what was left behind. Personally, the only way they could begin a third entry would be to abandon the 3D models of the Switch games and embrace 2D HD pixel art. Take a look at how the Dragon Quest remakes are made and the stunning artwork pixel sprites can bring.

Omg pokemon BW2 are soooooo good sadly i never played them when they were released in 2012 since i was a tad too young but even when i played it with my brother we enjoyed it throughout the entire game,o would say these games are some of the best in lore and gameplay and imo it has the best visuals,watching this video has made me desperately want to play gen 5 again since these games mean so much to me! Im glad you enjoyed Unova’s sequel!

You should go to Undella town in summer its always fun to have a jump scare with some music.

Having only played BDSP, you still haven't explored Gen 4 yet! Can't wait for you to try out platinum and HGSS. DS was the peak of Pokémon and Pokémon side games.

I want a black 3 or even a legend game we can finally see the original dragon if we do a legend game or we can have a sequel game where the bb league characters are their in my opinion it’s hard to make a remake for those games but you have to pick one and it makes sense for it to be bw 1 but i prefer 2 hope they just bundle of original bw 1 and 2 together with small Quality of life changes and make a sequel game for the real remake

I love all gen 5 games but I still believe BW 1 were better. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I really liked only being able to catch new pokemon until post game. It made it actually feel new, and the story in my opinion is also better.

Hot take... I would love a faithful remake of gen 5 in the same art style as BDSP or preferably Zelda: Links Awakening

Pokémon black was my very first Pokémon game. I got Pokémon black 2 by scamming a kid in JH. I basically gave him a bunch of horrible Pokémon cards for the game. He said he didn't even make it far and said he knew of a cheat involving naming your character "Disable," so that became my name, and I never figured out the cheat. Basically, gen 5 set the example for all future Pokémon games for me. X and Y were interesting enough for me to play through, and omega ruby was my first time playing a Pokémon game in that region, so I also liked that one as well. Pokémon really fell off for me with Pokémon sun and moon and their sequel. It felt like they were trying to do the same thing they did for Pokémon Black, but instead of progressing the story and characters, they just added a few things and called it ultra. I beat Sun in less than 30 hours. Like I had all the ultra beasts and regional Tapu pokemon as well. Then I skipped both the let's go games and came back for sword and shield and was just disappointed at that point, but it was still good enough to play through. Pokémon violent had a good story, and that's about it. I can't even bring myself to start the game. I also have brilliant diamond, but only because I had lost the original Pokémon diamond I had picked up along the way.
