The comment or question (for the upcoming Roo Q&A video), with the most thumbs up will win a free fine art print from the Roo collection. Thank you so much for the continued love on this series! I really wanted to make them special so it's taken some time to edit. Last update - the crowdfunder will go live in a few weeks (still confirming all the details). Squirrelly wishes, Dani

I've discovered your channel while i was upset with my french president and governement policy. I was trying to change my mind, and jumped into your squirel world. I was very sad and a little bit depressive. So far, i've discovered a very true personality with a great talent, and i wish you the best for your carrier, as you are literaly saving peoples from sadness and maybe worse.

When I was a young teenager our cat brought a baby squirrel home in its mouth. The squirrel was still alive and my parents raised it. Eventually it became too big to stay in the house and they let it out in the yard. It climbed a tree and live there. Occasionally we would call it and it would come down and visit us.

If a baby squirrel loses its mother because of man-made objects like cars I think it's our obligation to help them. If the mom had been taken by a native predator (no domestic cats or dogs) instead it might be different - although I don't think I could let a healthy baby just die.

@@henrik908 for someone saying other people comments dont make sense, you really should look at what you post yourself. I'm sure I don't need to explain my comment but I'll indulge you anyway...... 2 key bits of info from google for this explanation, 1. Squirrels don't mate for life, actually they get around a bit in mating season. 2. The average litter of a red squirrel is 3 kits per litter with usually 2 litters per year. Lets say you have a colony of 10 males amd 15 females, that 10 males can mate with the 15 females and produce 90 kits a year. Now lets flip that to 15 males and 10 females, that then drops to 60 kits per year. Given Dani said winter can take out a significant number of kits, the numbers show that for survival and growth of the colony, more females is better. But with you being so enlightened, I didnt need to tell you this did I? You would have known that many human social ideals wouldn't apply in the animal kingdom

I'm so glad Roo is around! Perhaps she felt abandoned whilst you were gone on your 3 month trip but it still feels like home so she's around? What you've done for Roo is uniquely special and I think it's a very natural and human thing to do to want to save an injured or orphaned baby animal. The fact that you never forgot that Roo needed to remain wild is the most important thing you could have done for her and you did successfully release her back into the wild. Thank you Dani for renewing my faith in humanity as being kind and empathetic! Truly spectacular job!

I too rescued and rehabbed two 5 week old baby red squirrels who were running around on a busy street. I dismounted my bike and they ran and climbed all over me having fun. I put them in my pouch and did the every 3-4 hrs feeding routine. In short they eventually decided on their own to be wild. Fine with me. Ginger the runt female and Rusty the brat male are now over a year old and have been coming every morning and throughout the day to be fed my meals of Sunflower Seeds and peanuts. I have a big Maple tree that they learned to climb in as babies right out my dining room window. And like your Female, my Ginger is the sweetest. Neither of them touch me, and Rusty runs way up the tree, but Ginger stays low and watches me as if saying hi!

Dani, have you thought about wearing the black hoodie now that it's getting warmer outside, so maybe Roo will recognize you. Because she hasn't seen either you or your boyfriend in winter clothes. It's good that you managed to re-adapt Roo to be wild in the wild. Have seen many RU-vids where people have kept wild animals in captivity, such as squirrels, beavers, raccoons. black panther and so pumpkin in captivity. The people who have done that do not understand that wild animals should be out in the wild and not inside their homes. I like watching your movies, as I feel calm watching your clips.

Beautiful video and sharing of you and Roo reuniting! It brought tears to my eyes and opened my heart to all wildlife. I live in the Mojave Desert and in 2015 we were hit by wind gusts over 100 mph. A local roadrunner who would visit every day to look for lizards and other food did not show up the next day. When he returned his leg was disconnected at the area where it connects to his body. I didn't think he would make it but every night he sleep on a ledge on my porch outside my front door. I decided to feed him since he couldn't hunt and I put a homeopathic remedy in the water bowl on the porch. Over the next few days, he ate, drank and spend the day around my rural cabin. Then I noticed his leg was healing so that he could use it like a peg leg hopping on it. His claw was withered but stiff enough that it supported him. Later that year he was mating and continued sleeping under my porch for the next few years. I hope your journey with Roo continues. Thanks for sharing this story Dani.

We live in a suburban community and have lots of tall trees in and around our property. About 3 years ago a little female gray squirrel started hanging around when I'd work on on a table on my deck. She was (is) quite friendly. I'd talk to her. Started giving her shelled walnuts and sunflower seeds. She takes them from my and my wife's hands. I call her "LT" (Little Tiny), she responds to it. We were so worried when she disappeared for long stretches 2-3 times. Twice it turned out LT had babies. We were concerned other squirrels ran her off. But, our little sweetie is back with us, friendly and sweet as ever! I love LT❤! I have loved the story of Roo as well❤❤!!

Thank you Dani for keeping us up to date with Roo's progress. I have absolutely loved your videos and it's real testament to what you have done that Roo survives to this day and is a fully fledged wild red squirrel. This was such a beautiful 20 minute video really calming as well - thank you :)

What a heart warming video. I am so happy for you that you found ‘her’. Wow it’s so amazing, as someone mentioned, that another female is around to have little kits. ❤
