Spinda having the BST of 360 is too iconic and baked into it's design to change into a random BST. I would personally alter it to keep in-theme with degrees/angles of a circle (maybe go up to 420?) You could either redistribute the stat spread so they are some combo of all the major angles (30,45,60,90) or, you could keep them all equal like you did with Glalie. Either 420 = 360 +60, all stats are 70 - still meh stats, or 480 = 360 + 120, 80 in every stat

While moving Grumpig earlier will help it a lot I think I needs some sort of coverage that Gardevoir and Alakazam don't have like ground or rock since it gets Power Gem in later games. Just a thought

You think we can add Flamethrower/Overheat for Manectric to learn via TM? It can those moves in later Gens. Especially with Emerald lacking in Fire types & fire coverage overall. May not be too useful in major fights. Also, maybe replacing Hariyama's lvl50 Seismic Toss with Cross Chop?

Pokémon I think need more love: Absol: I feel like this is the game he should shine! just look at it he should be faster. A 10atk & +10spe would do a lot for it. Medicham needs some love as well any small stat boost would be nice and/or a Dynamic Punch so it doesn't only have Jump Kicks. Also Meditite needs a physical move. Zangoose: Early Swords Dance is what he is know for. And moving it all the way from lv10 to lv45 is too far and big of a change. Trapinch evolves at lv33 now... give him some love and make it less of a pain and give it a little defence boost. Shiftry: he just always felt bad and mediocre any stat boost would be nice. I dislike Grovyle not learning Leaf Blade until Sceptile but i get it. And lastly which i know you disagree but let Manetric Learn Flamethrower by TM cause of Emerald lacking in Fire types

I’ve played through Crystal Legacy twice now, it is a masterpiece compared to the original. You (and your team?) did tremendously. That being said, I’ve been playing Gen 3 on and off for about 6 years now. So I’m genuinely looking forward to this!

In later games they let Manectric learn Flamethrower by TM. This wasn't in gen 3, I only even found out about it in ORAS. I always loved it, the thought of Manectric just being able to breath fire made me love it a lot more. I think it would be cool if it could learn it in Emerald Legacy too.

Perhaps give Ninjask Detect as a combo with Speed Boost

I think there is a fair reason for Breloom to get Spore earlier, and that's the Level 50 restriction on the Battle Frontier. Waiting until 59 to get Spore means you have to go all the way to Level 100 for the open level and that's just kinda tedious, but I totally get why it's so late since it's quite a good move for the line. Looking forward to trying this out!

Please give Shedinja the move endeavour as a final move, it would be fun.

I'd love for your rival (not Wally) to be the one to beat Steven (after you do) and they'd be the one who gets Steven to rethink his position as Champion - not Wallace or you - because the rivals main goal for awhile had been the Pokedex and research, with battling being secondary but battling is a necessary part of research - this shows Steven all he's been missing while Championing the league and solely thinking about battling. He can return to researching. This also means May/Brendan could walk into the Hall of Champions with you instead of being asked to wait outside (also the pokemon professor should be allowed in as well). Now Steven can step down, your rival can decline to take the champion position as they were the last one to beat them, and then they can enact the 8th gym leader as Champion as if its an official protocol. I think it ties the story together quite nice and also gives your rival more battles on top of being a great way for Steven to step down.

Spinda's 360 BST has a meaning. It represents the confused bear going 360º as it walks in circles. Was Swablu's location updated, so it can be found in Route 116? One way to make Spheal more usable is making it available on Route104 & let Sealeo be found in Shoal Cave, as Spheal is almost at its evolution level.

I’ve always been a supporter of Thick Fat for Tropius - I think it aesthetically matches its design as well. In addition, it really should get access to dragon dance given its pitiful stat spread. Very generous of you to do a give away, hopefully I win! Thanks again for all the awesome content

Some thoughts on the changes: - Leaf Blade activating Focus Energy feels like awfully overtuned ROM hack design and IMO does not fit the legacy series. I think it's better to just buff its base power by 20 like it is in later gens. It's simpler and more intuitive. - Ludicolo learning a 100 BP Grass move at level 26 is way too much. Moves that strong are things you learn in the late game, NOT in the mid game. - I don't know the level caps but IMO Shiftry should have Leaf Blade for the Tate & Liza fight. - Your salt towards Gyarados will never not be funny to me - Found it disappointing you didn't mention just how bad Meditite's learnset is. Doesn't learn a SINGLE PHYSICAL MOVE until level 33 or something. It's absurd. - I would argue you to let Zangoose learn Swords Dance in the late 30s. At that point in the game its frailty will become apparent and simply big neutral damage will not be enough anymore. It can kill 1, maybe 2 mons before it dies while with Swords Dance it can become a sweeper. - Donphan being added west of Mauville is a godsend. - Pinsir still learning no Bug moves 😭 - Lanturn gets moves? Let's gooooooooo. Overall I love most of these but I have some gripes. Really looking forward to the game!

I think Altaria could do with a bit more special attack. It always felt to me like it should be more special leaning compared to the "hairer chested" dragons Flygon and Salamence, but it only had 70 base special. Another one - Linoone Extremespeed. I know it's silly with Belly Drum, but it's so iconic. Why not chuck it in at a really high level like level 60 or 70 so its only really useful for the battle frontier, and that's if you can bother training a Linoone alllll the way until then.

Giving Grovyle Dragonbreath to go with Sceptile's Dragon Claw, to further fit the vibe of the previous scrapped Dragon dual typing 🐉

Cradily was always one of my favorite gen 3 mons as far as design goes. It was fun in later gens but really didnt have the same feel in gen 3. I dont know how to specifically buff its moveset, but it would be cool to see it get a little help. Perhaps leech seed and/or recover?

Personally I think Makuhita and Hariyama should naturally learn Thunder Wave, Glare, or some way to paralyze an opponent naturally It's signature move (until given to Nosepass) was Smelling Salts, so it should have some way of paralyzing opponents

here's something you should give Zangoose, Cut. Yeah it doesn't learn it in the base game for some stupid reason.

Regice needs a moveset change with Blizzard being replaced by Ice Beam, this would be a nICE touch

I think whismur and loudred could really use the +10 to both of their defenses that Exploud got. With how slow they are having defenses that low feels really awkward to use.

I always wondered why Pelliper can't use Weather Ball. It has the giant mouth, why not gather some of the weather in it and just dump into like those fire helicopters?

Having played multiple runs of RSE recently for achievements, i think Swablu stood out to me as one of the more difficult pokemon to train. One thing that would be nice as well is to buff the exp yield of some of the single-stage pokemon such as mawile and sableye. The game loves to stick them in late- and post-game areas, but they give an abysmal amount of exp for their level

Even with nice buffs, cutting the 10 special attack for minun and special defence for plusle Still seems harsh. Of course, keep up the great work!

Where's the Luvdisc love? You get it in the 30s and it has... Water Gun! It's so late in the game and it does nothing

What really needs a buff now is the player character. Because 6 pokemon slots are definitly not enough to fit all the pokemon I want to use in my playthrough of Emerald Legacy...Finally get to catch and fight with a Zangoose, actually use the Beldum-Line for more than slapping around the E4 and I cant even decide which Grass-type to use now with all the viable options now. i love early beldum! it's always been one of my favorite pokemon and i was so bummed as a kid that i had to beat the whole game to get one. i used to trade a beldum egg to my games to use it as a starter lol this is like a dream come true if i get the physical copy ill shiny hunt a beldum full odds on my GC gameboy player and stream it

Milotic still feels hard to get, never got to use one. Also Jinx (and Smoochum) deserve some love, I've never heard of anyone using them.

Here's my contest suggestion: Give Huntail Dragon Dance. The Clampearl line later pick up Shell Smash as their main strategy, and Huntail doesn't have an equivalent to Gorebyss's Amnesia to Baton Pass. Since it's going on Drake's team, it would be flavorful add that's grounded in Huntail's future learnset.

Aggron should feel more like a more accessible Tyranitar. IMO the entire line should be Steel/Ground instead of Steel/Rock because that 4x weakness to both fighting AND ground is terrible, while ground being an extremely useful type buffs its' usability.

I think that the Skitty line needs a little more love, my girlfriend wants to play the Hoenn region for the first time and her favorite pokemon from that region is Skitty so maybe a bit more buffs to its offensive stats so it can hit decently throughout the game and not fall off wouldnt be too bad? I know it can work well with Ice Beam/Thunderbolt combo so maybe an additional +5 or +10 even wouldn't make it anymore bad than it already is 😅

I think Lunatone and Solrock deserve some love. They always felt kinda underwhelming to me even with the tate&Liza fight. One dark type pokemon and you were golden.

I think it *should* be difficult to get spore. Access to the move is the trade off for having early game power. Patience should be rewarded, there’s already so few reasons to hold off on evolving making one less seems like we failed the exercise.

The nosepass buffs seem good, but the smelling salts combo uses the weaker attack stat. If that could get a 10 point bump up to 55, that may make it usable for a little niche with thunder wave.

Corsola!!! I really love Corsola, I loved the buff, but competing with all the other water type pokemon is difficult. Maybe a little more +10 SpDef

Should buff camerupt to give him more bulk so he doesn’t get one shot by every water type in the game. And maybe drop numels evo level down to 30 because 33 is just an awkward level to evolve

I feel that Aggron could use some more love Yes, it evolves earlier and actually has Rock moves, but that typing is absolutely, completely, undeniably horrible. That monstrous physical defense doesn't matter when you're one-shot by Earthquake and the great number of buffs given to the Fighting type. Damage-reduction abilities like Solid Rock or Filter are out of the question, so is removing the Rock type. However, the Focus Band is a Gen 3 item, so Sturdy could be reworked to be like in Gen 5 onwards where it's basically a built-in Focus Sash, and giving more merits to the Pokémon with these abilities due to said item not existing, and making them stand out more. Because obviously, OHKO moves are not gonna be used often by NPC trainers. This would also serve as a buff to other Sturdy users like Golem, Magneton, Donphan or Skarmory.

I appreciate how well thought out this entire rework of this game is. Nothing is too crazy, and the changes are subtle but make a significant impact. It will definitely make emerald way more interesting to play because of how viable nearly every pokemon is now, without one being way over powered. I will definitely be playing this

All these additions are great! Though, there's a chance that Metagross's evolution level needs pushed back from 45 to either 50 or 55. It really depends on if it dominates Juan or not.

I wish you change Blaze Kick secondary effect, cause i think it's the weakest of the 3 starter signature moves with how Sceptile can snowball with critical hits and Swampert Speed + Accuracy Drop sound really strong My suggestion would be replacing the Burn chance with 50% chance to raise Speed by 1 stage (somewhat of a homage to Speed Boost)

Honestly Id love it if the Duskull line was more usable like a gen 2 Gengar, probably not totally realistic but Im a sucker for ghost types who have good coverage.

Why does the bug-poison type Dustox learn less poison and bug moves than it learns psychic? I don't dislike the psychic moves, but if you're going to give it the powerful psychic, I would consider giving it sludge bomb around the same levels and acid earlier. I'm not the biggest Dustox fan, but it does have a special place in my memories for completely destroying Brawley on my most recent playthrough.

Why does Treecko have Absorb instead of Razor Leaf? Sceptiles signature move is LITERALLY Leaf Blade. Cutting things with leaves is its entire gimmick!

IMO if you get relicanth in the rain it should be NUTS. for how late that mon comes its gotta be a sleeper god tier for being that late in the game. give it like 65 speed so it outspeeds everything and it should get rock slide and earthquake on level up. I want to see this thing destroy worlds.

Sounding like an Aron line apologist, but potentially make it evole to lairon at 26 and Aggron at 38 instead. Just to make it more viable earlier since still, 28-42 is a long wait to evolve a much loved but mediocre line. The rest of the buffs look great overall.

I love the Mawile changes but can we get some love for Solrock and Lunatone?

This might sound wild, but kecleon needs it's attack and special defense switched, not for balancing reasons but so it's closer to the shopkeeper from PMD, that kecleon is busted

So, why doesn’t Pinsir learn twin needle, or any bug move leveling up? Buffing Twin Needle was the best change to bug types in my opinion. Its current learn set is fine, but next to the buffed Masquerain and Nijask, it feels lacking as a bug type. And all the fighting coverage in the world ain’t gonna matter if Heracross exists. It needs level up bug stab, even if it’s late game.

Legacy Peliper and Torkoal should get Drizzle and Drought respectively, making them a bit more useful.

I think that Carvanha could use some love. It would be nice to find one before the Flannery fight. I always felt like getting it after Norman left it to be only useful for Tate and Liza.

I don't believe all pokemon need a good STAB move at all points in a playthrough. However, I do think they need something to compensate for that

Thank you for buffing Roselia, Tropius and Swablu! I had a tough time on my first play through using all of those in my team :D I think Luvdisc deserves a buff! Show it the love that it shows us :) What I'm not a fan of is increasing Spinda's stats. It's BST was 360 and I think it should stay that way just for gimmick reasons. Spinning, 360°, circles all over... it makes too much sense. You could put it on an earlier route though so it would find some use in those portions of the game.

More love for Cacnea and Cacturne, maybe? I want to like them but they’re just not that good

i think solrock needs some love. Lunatone is pretty good now since it got special shadown ball. And solrock is good mid game when u get it. but it then falls off hard in late game. Maybe you could buff its special attack stat to have useable psychic moves and because it lost physical shadow ball, so it kinda got worse. But since its the opposite of lunatone, then maybe you could give it dark type moves instead of buffing its special attack to replace shadow ball

What if Cacturn got access to Mach punch? Likely through breeding or move tutor? It’s really good with Sucker punch, but since Cacnea is almost never caught outside of Hoenn I think this might be an idea worth considering.

I feel Wailord may need some love. Because why not. Also, I would love to see more double battle implemented to help lean into the new features the games added. I feel like all of your legacy games should do that, personally, leaning into the new things. Legacy Crystal including more held items, Emerald having more double battles, Platinum (if you ever decide to do that) using the Physical/Special split more cleanly with mixed attackers (Or using older Pokémon with moves that had been bad prior, like giving Maylene a Hitmonchan with the elemental punches), Black and White having foes with their Hidden Abilities, X and Y with more Mega Evolutions in important fights. Sun/Moon tended to do better with having Z-moves in important fights, so that much is fine.

Maybe give wailord higher sp attack for water spout and ice beam and give him more moves he learns like no good moves same with walrein

I think Wailord needs some stats into its defenses to make it a little more worth putting on a team.

One Pokémon that I think would need a little buff is actually the Camerupt line. Fire/Ground is quad weak to water, which just means it gets absolutely destroyed by Swampert. Because Swampert is really good. And even if you don’t have Swampert, sure, that 100/105 offenses looks good on paper… but then those 70/70/75 defenses and 40 speed mean you’re almost certainly going first and breaking it down with some other water or ground type move.

Would you maybe consider giving Salamence Dragon Damce at Lvl 60+? Just in the same spirit as Breloom's Spore, to make Salamence usable in the Battle Frontier without making it too OP for the main story playthrough. I think grumpig should learn thunderbolt bc in your playthrough shock wave really fell off. Grumpig definitely wanted that stronger electric move just like gardevoir has

I'd really love to see Mawile get the move Substitute. I feel like it could use more than a small BST buff to make it an appealing Pokemon choice. I love the design and could never fit it on my team. Mawile's niche appears to be a Baton Passer. I think the synergy between Substitute and Baton Pass is interesting. Substitute can be passed with Baton Pass and, combined with intimidate, cements Mawile as a super safe pivot Pokemon. The best part is that Mawile already LEARNS substitute! Sadly, you can only get substitute on Mawile by transferring it to Fire Red and Leaf Green and visiting a move tutor. Seeing as Mawile already gets the move in the generation, but most people playing Emerald Legacy won't be able to transfer it to FRLG, it seems like the perfect addition to Emerald Legacy. Honestly, I might need to daisy chain some cartridge games to get this build early in Emerald next time I play it; it's a real shame you have to beat ALL OF FRLG before this cool build can work. Excited for Emerald Legacy's release!

Smith... Make NO mistake, I will be playing a Dusklops at the first opportunity. However, if there is even 1 pokemon that needs a 'pull back' it would be removing at least 10 of that 20 extra hp you just granted the behemoth. The special attack buff alone is going to be bonkers!

I think Masquerain has such a bad typing that it needs a little more than Intimidate to help it survive hits- perhaps 10 extra stats in HP? Emerald was my favorite game as a kid so I'm looking forward to playing Emerald Legacy once it's out!

I think Luvdisc is a pokemon that needs more love (get it), and I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned. For being nearly the last available new (standard) pokemon it has always been terrible, and doesn't even have a gimmick. Maybe it could have been fixed by giving it slightly higher speed and leaning into its cute but useless nature. It should get rain dance in its learnset to pair with swift swim, but also it could get the cute charm ability as a 50/50 option. Then to pair with flail and its high speed, I think it should learn endure, and maybe even endeavor. That way it can have a niche as a formidable low health threat that needs to be dealt with, but not lose its identity of being pretty useless but lovely.

2:40 doesnt muddy water already have a chance to lower accuracy? isnt it weird to give a move _two_ status modifying effects? unless you're replacing the accuracy debuff with the speed drop, which in that case: why?

The Ludicolo moveset is kind of cracked, Petal Dance is way too strong for lvl26 and you don't need Giga Drain since you get the TM for it south of Mt Pyre. He should have Mega Drain somewhere there

I just hope for Mightyena to get 100 attack, it could make the enemy team leaders fights more interesting!.. if they still have them lol

Still kinda wish Seviper got Dragon Dance as a mirror to Zangoose having Swords Dance. One focusing on maximizing its damage with powerful blows while the other balances power and speed.

Clamperl will always have a special place in my heart, as it was my first real shiny (and that I already like both the design and the shiny color). He's only purpose is to evolve, but he looks so cute I love him (and wouldn't let him to change). Sadly he has nothing for him, not even a single move to learn (since he got his 4 at level 1) and hard to find (only in the bottom of the sea, thus when you should already have a water type in your team).

Honestly, Crawdaunt doesn't have all that great of a learnset. It doesn't even get crunch in emerald, only in Fire red, so that might be a thing to change. Just giving the poor thing a decent dark stab would be really nice to see. It genuinely only gets knock off, which is only 20bp in gen 3. perhaps bite added as well for something early on?
