In this video, I continue a project to create a custom mod in Minecraft! Specifically, I work on a new scythe tool capable of breaking a 3x3 field of crops at once and creating custom enchantments for it! These enchantments increase the scythe's radius, replant the broken crops, and give some bonemeal to un-grown crops! If I finish this project, it will be available on Planet Minecraft (or on NeoForge) and linked here! Comment below with any suggestions or feedback!

Hey, so with this series, I plan to make every episode focus each on their own topic within the mod (at least for a while). This means, you don't necessarily have to watch every video in order since you won't miss any references within the videos themselves. The only exception is at the end of the video, where I'll touch on any changes I made to previous mechanics in between videos, which usually isn't much. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video and let me know of any suggestions or feedback you have!

I definitely like these kinds of ideas, trading with villagers loses its meaning when you use exploits such as the string duper. This incentivizes players to trade through legitimate means. 💜💜

Thank you! A big goal of mine is to expand upon Minecraft’s original progression in ways to keep it similar but still interesting. I agree that villager trading for all enchantments gets dull and boring real quick, especially if you’ve already done it once before. I’ll try my best to keep this up with all the new content I add to this mod!

I think it would be better that instead of lowering the bonemeal chances you should make it incompatible with sowing so it lowers the enchanting cost

Hmm, I like the idea but I’m not sure if it would work. Players would probably use two scythes, one with greenthumb and another with sowing. They would spam the greenthumb until it’s fully grown and then use sowing to harvest and replant. However, this would be tricky because greenthumb would also be harvesting fully grown crops. So, I feel like people would end up using the green thumb scythe for whenever they needed crops and would probably end up not using sowing just because of the incompatibility. I would like to try to find balance with all three enchantments first, but I’ll keep this in my back pocket as a backup plan if I can’t figure it out! Thanks!

It would be cool if you make a tool for trees, Like a lumberjack axe where it mines the whole tree.

That’s a really great idea! It might be a bit tricky to detect when wood is a part of a tree, but I know it’s possible, and that it’s something I would like to mess around with. Thank you so much for the suggestion, my mind entirely skipped that idea when coming up with tools!

maybe you could do that if you sneak or like right click you only break one if you have reach because I can imagine trying to pick up some grops and destroying everything

Hmm I'm not sure if I understand what you mean, are you talking about a mod that would show the player a crafting tree? Or are you talking about some other way to show recipes in the crafting book? Either way, I would love to hear what you suggest!

@@bigcongamingwell for example, terraria is both famous and infamous for its crafting recipes, so I thought a way you could also balance the honestly a little op tools by making more complex recipes. Like the scythe requires multiple netherite hoes and some other stuff. Get what I mean?

@@texasyellow3563 OH yes of course, that is the plan when it comes to the gear in this mod! The enchanted books for example, require certain plants that make the players have to go adventuring the different biomes, or entering the nether, as a way of balance. That way, they have the choice to either dive head first into the enchanting table, low chance high reward, or go out exploring for specific resources that are guaranteed going to give them an enchantment. I'll be keeping this in mind for all additions, and recipes will be my main way of forcing balance once it comes to beta-testing. But, that is way off down the road!

@@bigcongaming Awesome, and just a suggestion but, the magnetism enchantment maybe should make the attraction radius of the player bigger, instead of just teleporting the item. But just a thought

@@texasyellow3563 Hmm, I'll have to look to see if I can modify the pickup range. Also, if it were to function that way, I don't think it would be suitable as an enchantment since it changes a function that isn't tool-related. But, I agree that in this current state, magnetism is very powerful and that can take away from an aspect of the game. I'll think of it some more, and of course any change I make will be covered down the line. Thanks for sharing!

Hey, that's a great idea! One thing I don't mention is that Range does increase the durability taken on the Scythe by 2 per level, so many greenthumb should do something similar (maybe just 1 more durability a level?)

@@bigcongaming But it would be incompatible with mods that drop experience points on harvest, for example if you have *mending,* green, range unbreaking, (and the ench that makes you replant) with that mod installed and you break a 9x9 wheat farm, it will be regenerating

@GTB-YT yea that’s true, but I think that would be fine, as an added level of balance. Gaining xp from crops could be really op if you could instantly break crops as fast as you can with the scythes.
