I think you meant to say the fuse is open. A fuse by design is always shorted.

You are totally right! I meant open. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thanks for watching! Let me know (in a new comment) what is something around your house that needs to be fixed? Are you going to attempt to fix it yourself?

Thermal cutouts and thermal fuses are very easy to replace. During the great P4nd3m1c, the extra cloth face coverings were washed in small batches weekly. We learned really fast not to throw a dryer sheet in with them as it would almost fuse iyself to the hot air outlet. I now have a bag of them I got off of the big A, and I can go 8 more times before I need to buy more. And for those who do use this fix, you don't need a thermal camera to verify it works. The thermal fuse/cutout will either allow the heating element to work or it won't. So turn on the dryer for a minute or so and then open it up. If you feel heat coming out, it's fixed. No heat, better look further or give it another 2 minutes.

I also recommend cleaning and tightening this type of connectors. I once had to change a blown anti-noise capacitoron our dishwasher and just put the connectors back on. About a year later the dishwasher stopped working again and when I checked on the part again one of the connectors got so hot due to too high resistance that the wire burned off and the plastic casing of the capacitor had melted.

I assume you mean the F2 connectors. That's a good point.

@@FrugalRepair exactly same as this, purely repair direct to the point with explanation of the parts and how to troubleshoot and repair them.. i don't enjoy your monetization aka sponsership kind of videos to be honest but those one are gold and what made your channel what it is today..

It is a bit more work to properly clean it out, but is 30 minutes more work worth it to you to keep from possibly losing your home? You are setting yourself up for a possible dryer fire by not cleaning out the area where the heating element is, and removing the back and cleaning out the blower, air path, and ducting inside the dryer. I found charred lint in the heating element area on my dryer, lots of lint in the ducting from the blower, and I also made $.37 cents in change and a pile of nuts, bolts and screws from inside the dryer that had been left in pockets. Plus kept my home fire safe.

Thanks for commenting. The broken part was $5. $10 / 2 = $5. I bought the two pack because it was wiser to replace the thermostat too. I do not agree that it is clickbait (I really did spend about $5 for the part) but I see what you are saying and I'll change the title.
