I Flew British Airways 1st Class - Is It Worth It? 

Mate that wasn't first class, it was Club Europe, which is BA's business class product. I could tell because you didn't have a flat bed. Which is the case for shorter haul flights. You have access to the lounges as you do with long haul flights but on the plane the only extra room you get is the middle seat is empty. Leg room is the same as economy. With regards to pricing, its a rip off to pay for it using cash, the only way of making it worthwhile is by using AVIOS BA's loyalty program which brings the cost right down.

Us up north only have BA flights going to heathrow i wouldnt mind trying that going to the canaries on a 4+hour flight low cost can get a bit tedious, November can be a great time to visit tenerife done it myself twice have a great time.

BA used to be the benchmark for flights. Traveled to the US , India, China and throughout Europe many times on business but would not now. They should learn from Emirates who are amazing. Thanks Darren.

Hey Darren. Enjoy your holiday. As a part time digital nomad that has taken 16 European flights in the last year I'd not upgrade to business. Too much money for me for what you get. Flew back with BA cityflyer from a week in Ibiza into London City on Saturday. I'd choose to fly BA out of London City airport again. They have new 3d security scanners so through security in minutes. Cityflyer planes are 2 + 2 leather reclining seats. You get sandwich, crisps and alcoholic drink with economy ticket. Shame they cover limited destinations though.

Hi Darren, Yes it looks great in the lounge! I prefer less crowded areas to sit, relax & eat. I recently used the Virgin lounge at Heathrow- which was nice but bit on the small-size and busy. Have a great break in Tenerife! Enjoy the lovely weather there. Lizzie 🥰

As a former journalist, Virgin always upgraded press if you showed your press card. Very useful on Paris to LA flights or Paris to Hong Kong. It’s only when you no longer have a company paying your travel that you understand how lucky you were. Having done the Paris to Cannes trip hundreds of times for work I eventually stopped flying and took the train. Greener and better. Walk straight into the train. Read, work and sleep then arrive in central Cannes and walk to the hotel.

ive been racking up the airmiles to fly to LA on Virgin upper class. Its looks over priced for what you get but the airmiles makes it a no brainer.

Darren Club Europe is okay but long haul Club World is great . Besides the lounge, dedicated checkin , lie flat bed and lots of leg room. Great meals, wine, beer and spirits . It’s worth it!

Nice review , if im flying just europe then i like to spend less time in the airport ,but if its a long haul then i would do Business or 1st class. Must admit iv not flown with BA for many years , hope they have improved . Cheers

Hi ya Darren, you lucky so&so 😮Taking a pit stop & chill out break a few weeks before " that festive season starts 😅 " Mind,as it now seems to start in the last week in August 😂😂 you'll have to leave earlier next year. Its been a strange year for all of us.Post Lockdown life at last getting back to " normal? " 😮.Question? When does a holiday start? Paying extra for your travel seems too me the right idea 💡 ❤. Your wind down starts before you leave home, reduced hassle means you almost gain a day 😊 So don't stress at a hooked drive,a missed tiddler on the 18th ( i have only ever played golf once and that was in/ on the 19th 😂😂) A quick foodie question 🙋 was the lighting in the lounge really bright? Thought the scrambled eggs were very pale 😢 Anyway my friend soak up the sunshine, the relaxed atmosphere and just enjoy yourself. ❤😊Allan&Family

I really enjoyed that video Darren you got some great footage on the plane. We booked in the lounge at Manchester on our last holiday and it was well worth the money. I do get the perks of jumping the queue, Rachael has multiple sclerosis and needs the aid of a walking stick so we are always first and last off the plane. It might be worth booking first class if you get extra leg room and an empty seat in-between. She always wants the window seat then she's up and down using the toilet 😂 looking forward to the next one 👍

i have been to the sun inn and it is the best pub on the island and the staff are very friendly because you have steve wayne dave peat and Maria

The Gatwick lounge looks as if it’s been upgraded, good offering of food and drink. The 5b lounge at Heathrow is amazing but the main terminal lounges are incredibly busy. It all depends how much the upgrade to business/club Europe is. We have found it cheaper in the past to fly business with BA from Heathrow than economy with Jet2 from Birmingham! Beats the motorbike either way 😂Enjoy your holiday!

On holiday AGAIN!!!!

I fly regularly and use a simple rule. Anything under 3 hours and its economy anything over its Business all the way as im 6'3" tall

I recognise those seats, that's BA business class surely? And it's a shit business class too, BA and Europe generally need to up their game. I flew Business class home from Brussels (work mistake) and all it meant was that I sat at the front of the plane with the same seats just slightly more legroom, got off/on first, slightly nicer food with a real glass and the stewardesses were actually nice to me!

Flew back from Barbados last week Business with BA thanks to Avios Upgrade. Have to say was totally underwhelmed. Seats were cramped when flat, no real privacy and no mattress cover for seat when flat. Managed to get Virgin upgrade last year and that was 10 times better.

There is no First Class on BA inside any flights in Europe. Was it a special flight?

Like the channel host (I think) I grew up in Thanet during the mid-70s to mid-80s but, pre-covid, I was regularly flying between Western and Eastern European destinations (usually to from Heathrow) getting about 30 different flights a year. I've found that, these days, that British Airways is really a budget airline masquerading as a premier carrier. In my opinion, the only premier aspect to BA is the price! In terms of meals, in-flight service, general customer service, and service reliability, sadly BA is terrible. To and from my most regular destination (a 3 and a half to 4 hour flight) the only food BA offered was a pretty sorry sandwich, whereas using (say) Lufthansa or Swiss (in economy) great meals would be served and unlimited drinks were included, together with great customer service, and safe in the knowledge that (if required) the airline would arrange good hotel accommodation in the event of some unforeseen problem. With BA you have to go through a fight with them to get anything, not to mention the (seemingly) constant threat of airline staff strikes and ridiculous and catastrophic IT failures bringing the whole airline to its knees. Though it didn't save so much money, I found it better to use Swiss or Lufthansa with transfers at Zurich/Geneva or Frankfurt/Munich - rather than get a direct BA flight.

Love your videos and channel mate. I wanna suggest something, i watch you on my TV, and sometimes the picture quality isn't great. I ain't got a clue what camera you use, i suspect i might be your phone, but it needs to be clearer and get the colours banging. Hope you take this how it's intended, I'll aways watch you, I've been here from very early days.

First class on long haul is definitely a better and more comfortable way to fly not so much so for short haul yes you do get more space lounge access and a few other perks but for what you have to pay it is not top of my list

Flew business a few months ago LHR to Berlin, is the experience worth twice the price of a economy ticket? I used avios points to upgrade so.financially it cost me nothing, the experience was good, especially lounge access at Heathrow where I stayed for over 2 hours ensuring I got my money's worth, would I pay on next trip ? possibly yes especially if travelling alone but better still would use avios .

Lounge looked good compared to others mentioning no names. Not a fan of BA after a flight from Mauritius celebrating our Silver Wedding anniversary found the cabin crew very rude & not very helpful they sort of ruined the end of a very nice holiday hence we don't fly with them anymore. 29 degrees, lovely.
