For the dipped dresser...just my personal preference, but the color you chose was so gorgeous, I'd do the entire piece that color with bright gold hardware and definitely add legs. Keep up the good work! You're sooooo talented! And yes, as someone else suggested, PLEASE start wearing a mask, even outside. Your lungs will thank you in 20 years. 😍
The "dipped" look is so unexpected on a full-size dresser that the *SURPRISE!!* factor may explain many of the negative comments. Personally, I love it, especially with the delicious dark green. Ignore the complainers, my dear. You put your heart and considerable talent into each project you flip and it shows. I admit to stealing several of your ideas for my own flips -- I believe the highest praise is being copied by those who admire your work so much they incorporate it into the craft they love!
For the dipped dresser : add an 1/2in gold painted line across the front and sides where the green paint and the natural look meet....add some legs and add the same 1/2in gold line around the bottom of the legs....I think it will give it a very classy finished look
I’m so relieved to hear that you are cleaning or even sanding the insides. You may have been doing this step all along but overlooking speaking of it’s importance. I love watching and appreciate how your skills are evolving and the editing is elevating professionally!
I also really need the inside to be spotless and fresh. If I’m on the cusp of a purchase that will reel me in. Loved the “easy” flip of the 2 light green velvet chairs. If I knew how to do upholstery I would do them over in the yellow you see everywhere now. But beautiful in the green.
The black and wood dresser with the "would have been footballs" is beautiful! I LOVE the stain that you used with the black and gold hardware. Great job!!
For the “dipped” dresser I don’t think it’s the color combo, which I love by the way. I think it’s the rounded bulkiness of the dresser itself. It needs to maybe be elevated on legs and somehow draw the eye away from that 80’s look. Congratulations on the success of Flipmas! Very inspiring.
Yes, legs are mandatory. I like the green, but I'd paint the top with a lighter shade of green and to add some focal point, I'd paint the horizontal line of the 3upper drawers with a shade of fucsia or something like that.
My impression is that Etsy marketplace more attracts people looking for one-of-a-kind artisan pieces while Facebook is more geared to price-sensitive buyers. Your work reflects your artistic and woodworking talents and is inspiring.
I think I have to agree with you saying Facebook marketplace is for those looking for more "bargain deals" . I'm not sure of the costs involved with selling on Etsy. I honestly think an upscale market is enabled by having your own website. I understand that involves more of an investment of time and money to get set up and running. Which also, would create additional costs to maintain the proper & secured function. However, in my understanding I believe the investment not only will bring higher yields, it achieves the true intent. Which gives greater potential to supercede what you ever thought to dream. Just say'in... If you're going for the gusto give it all ya got and then some. Be the eagle not the duck who runs about chasing and being chased by dogs. Dogs have fleas, fleas jump & bite. Their little bites create a horrible itch! Tomorrow isn't promised. Time goes fast! Spread out your wings and fly otherwise you give the greater risk where your living is ended with having the same ole itch. I think that could have even started the ole saying "LIFE'S A BITCH" like maybe from one who was on their death bed reflecting back on their own choices ...... Hind site can be 20/20. ✌🏼
I am really enjoying this video I am new to furniture restoration I am working on my first project now and you’re giving me so many great ideas. I would love to see you do a natural wood finish on something. Great Work Restoration Queen!
This video along with the 12 days of flipmas by far my favourite of the year! I love it when you return to the roots of your channel! All of the pieces are stunning Lauren - the camera work and editing also top notch great job neiman and harrison! Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and a safe awesome New Years-see ya on the flip side in 2023 🎉❤
I think I've been watching you since you first began, I watched you move into your new business address. I couldn't choose one of these twelve if you paid me that $2,000. Because they are all absolutely amazingly beautiful. I would so love to do this and I have so many pieces because I keep picking them up but at the same time I run an animal rescue and I'm the only person here 7 days a week doing all of the work. So my other projects sit outside under tarps or taking up space in every room of my house, garage and feed shed. LOL so thank you for your videos! I have saved this one so I can look back on all these pieces. I hope you have an amazing year!
Just discovered your channel and absolutely love your work. But please, please, please wear a mask when you're sanding. We want to watch you for decades. Thank you for sharing
I love what you did with using the curtains to replace the front panel in the drawers of the one dresser...very clever & it brings a fresh, almost "beachy" feel to it. Nice work! The dipped dresser: either paint the rest of it to match or do some stenciling The French Provincial dresser is GORGEOUS!! If I had the money (& lived closer), I'd pay your asking price for sure! I love that!!! Ok....now to go watch the rest of the video...lol Ok...day 7...I used to work (many, MANY years ago) for a local wallpaper manufacturer. I loved their textured (anaglypta) wallpapers! I never would have thought to use them for furniture, but after seeing your application...well, I have an antique dresser that I had started to refinish, but never completed (yet). I think I want to do this wallpaper application to my own dresser! I'll have to look at what is available in my area....& get my dresser emptied out, cleaned up & redone. I really ❤ that look! Ok...on to the next part of your video....😊 Thank you for sharing this "12 days of Flipmas" video...I learned a lot & will be sharing this with my friend (we were *just* talking about starting to do our own furniture flipping a couple days ago!). We will definitely check out your other videos & tutorials...you have gained a new subscriber today!!😊
The 12 days of Flipmas has been so much fun! My favorites are the cedar chest, the table and chairs but cannot ignore the fabulous paint pour piece! You are so very talented and then add the talents of Neiman and Harrison and your channel is my favorite for sure. Great work everyone!
I just purchased white furniture for my bedroom. Instantly brightened my room. Much nicer than the black set I had in my room which made my room feel small and dark
I'm in love with the green pour over dresser. LOVE it. You and your team are responsible for changing my life. I'm a 50 yr old grandma who needed a shove (encouragement) to go for it. I'll be a regular viewer of your channel. This is the first time I've ever seen Furniture Flipping Teacher channel. Extremely impressed. I'm starting a new career thanks to all of y'all and of course Our Heavenly Father.
Number 11, the pour over dresser, is a triumph! Facebook marketplace in your area is just too basic if they aren’t as appreciative of that lovely piece of work as you are.
Just came across your site. You are one clever, talented lady with vision. I am hopeless at these things and, at 74, very doubtful I can change but I love watching. Oh, I loved everything you did apart from that dipped dresser. I don't know if this is the latest fashion but, to my eyes, it looks as though you ran out of paint. My favourite? The 2 piece you delivered, really nice. You did inspire me. I have 2 heavyweight wooden garden benches, 12 years old. All the varnish has come off. I have a sander but never used it! I might just try....! Look forward to watching your other videos.
lynnedean You're never too old to try out new things 😊. 62 yr old here sanded my outdoor wooden furniture last summer and painted it a lovely duck egg blue which totally transformed it . Good luck 🤞
Love this series and recap! It is so inspiring to see what you come up with. Love the uniqueness of the painted curtains and wallpaper on the drawer fronts and the paint pour drawers. The dip and the paint pour totally stand out… in a great way! I loved the white dresser and it’s still really popular in my area. So fun to watch you, Neiman and Harrison make these videos. Also, love that you update us about pieces that sold and for how much. Hope you all have a great 2023 and thank you for teaching us so many neat techniques in 2022.
For those that haven't sold, might try transfers, stenciling, or dry brushing with another color as while they are transformed, they don't stand out to me as unique. You can also employ colored wax around edges. Just trying to offer ideas to help you sell, as I can see you work hard.
I think the dipped dresser is perfect it's my type of style I love the dark forest green and the dipped look with the raw wood on top as I am going through a minimalism journey and trying to pick out more minimal furniture pieces. This says minimal but yet has that beautiful bold look at the same time
I enjoyed the individual videos of the 12 days of Flipmas, as well as this recap. I learn something new in each. Keep up the good work and have a safe, happy and healthy New Year to the whole team at FFT!
Hi Lauren, You did amazing work with the variety of projects in Flipmas. Loved this series and really enjoyed watching the recap. My faves were the very first one and the IKEA set, but the pour over dresser was stunning def # 1
Lauren, you are a designer of furniture. You should be working with designers so you can sell your custom pieces for way more. You are amazing! So talented.
You all are a team of good teachers. Since I found myself in early Ed and lived being The Story Lady but had also restored houses, some huge..... I appreciate sitting back and seeing you save these pieces. Because this is now what I want to do just for me. Thank you and I love Dixie Bell Silk and their stuff. Happy New Year, dear people. You have made Covid times bearable and positive.
Hand Claps for the whole FFT Crew!!! Love you all and all your hard work to bring us great content and tips. Loved these 12 Days of Flipmas videos. All the projects turned out amazing as usual, but I did have a few faves. Loved the dipped wood dresser, the mcm dresser and the coffee table. Best of luck with everything you guys have in store for 2023! Can't wait to see what you will do. :)
I love how you can look at a dresser and pick the perfect color to compliment the piece. I really enjoyed watching your transformations. Keep up the awesome work!
Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ru-vid.comUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.
I love the dipped look on the dresser, the only thing I may do is a thin gold line where the green ends and the natural begins. I totally love it as is though!
Hi Lauren, my suggestion for the dipped dresser is to stencil the drawer fronts of the top section with the green paint using an art deco stencil, maybe gold highlights and gold drawer handles. I think this would tie the two colours together. Love your work
I have a cedar chest just like the one you redid, and have struggled with what to do with it as the style no longer works in my house but don't want to get rid of it because there is some sentimental attachment to the chest. I love how you removed the base and added legs! I will try something similar! thanks for the great ideas!
I have to say that I am totally impressed with your work. Your vision and your work ethic. Piece number !2 blows me away in terms of craftsmanship, vision. Its inspiring to see the day to day consistency. I wish you guys where in my market.I've now retired for the most part. Ive been a designer and merchant in over 6 retail outlet 15 years. Programing as much as 6000 feet retail sales space. I could not keep up with success we were experience coming out of Covid. I could not get product to market fast enough. Epecially in Upholstery. I watched the market switch from uplifting vintage to finding new product. i did not have enough suppliers and staff to back me up. My second career failed me. It's where my true skills lie .I'm so happy to see people making it work.I have to say that Imo you are pricing way to low. You've got! Make it grow!
Neiman and Harrison, you guys do such an amazing job with the videos and editing! Your work really brings this channel to a whole new level and completes the team with Lauren’s awesome work!!! Love all you guys 😊 Oh btw, my favorite flip was the 2 pieces that you said looked like they had footballs on the front before you finished 🏈
For the dark green and oak dresser, I'm not partial to the dipped look, but I can see why it good be really cool. In this case, just to boost it, I would paint the entire frame green and just leave the top 2 drawer fronts natural. Then add some cool wooden balls for legs, keeping it modern and a bit funky. (keep the wooden ball legs natural as well to balance the colour of the drawers). That's my 2 cents!
DAY SEVEN was OOOOF AMAZING 😭♥️♥️ Bravo! Definitely modern, miamalistic yet elegantly beautiful, reminded me of Scandanavian furniture. You are a genius with some of these pieces. Sometimes I wish you did other paints or natural finishes with other pieces. But i get it. You have furniture and you have paint. So YOU PAINT IT. Lol but a natural piece would be awesome, just putting a natural finish. Would love to see what that looks like!
This was so inspiring! And they were all incredible pieces of furniture. But OH, MY GOD!! Those drawers from day 11 aren't just furniture, they're a piece of art! 😍 I can't wait to try that technique myself, thank you so much for this video 🙏
You have not calculated your time spent on these projects ( even if your sponsors pay you)- that doesn’t count- your selling yourself short… at even $50 an hour - it’s still a good deal for furniture-- you deserve to make money
On that 3rd day dresser I would add a base with legs. Ít just had a really “heavy” feel to it because the wood is so chunky. Not just legs though. Need the base too… That “pour over” dresser is by far my favorite too!!! It’s just beautiful! That beautiful kitchen table is going to make that family VERY happy 😊
The dipped dresser - I honestly didn't think you could make that dresser look any better, but you did. The IKEA idea was awesome!!! I never would have thought of wallpaper!
This was my first time watching your show. Really grateful that I did! I absolutely LOVED the Pour Over piece! That was definitely my favorite! Thank you for increasing my motivation and inspiration to get started doing some furniture makeovers! “12 Days of Flipness” … So very clever! 🎄
Fun series! It would be very cool to do an entire room. Maybe a couple of velvet chairs, a buffet a coffee table? All the greens in this series made me think…hmmm some of those pieces would go together. You could sell separately Or give a discount for the entire room. My fave was the coffee table!
I kept thinking about that as well... factoring in hours seems like it would be a pretty low per-hour rate as that's a LOT of work even if materials weren't expensive.
You are brilliant!!! Really enjoy your show. PLEASE wear a mask when sanding and painting/staining. I used to be young and did a lot of the things you are doing...you will be happy if you do not have breathing problems when you are old. Barb
Favorite - green pour-over dresser. And the green velvet chairs, too, actually. Least favorite - the dipped dresser. Great Job - ALL THREE of you :) !!
I think the flat paint is why some of your pieces aren't selling. Certain pieces would benefit from a light gloss over coat, especially if you are using a darker paint.
Green & Raw Wood Dipped Piece- I would add a thin white or gold line between the raw wood and the green on the sides... May take the eye away from the bold difference between the colors and soften the line a bit.
I don’t think the dark colors are what people who like the French provincial style are looking for… I was so disappointed to see such a dark color chosen and that’s my style preference. More muted blues, greens, or lavender if it had to be a color. White or ivory is always classic
You are such an artist. I love all of your made over furniture I have never seen such excellent work! I like to dabble in a refurbishing project now and then but nothing as intricate an incredibly creative as you continue to present.
I'm surprised anyone would buy the green chairs as is, they didn't look finished. I loved the art deco look of the two dressers and I don't even like art deco. Good job on those. Lower the price on the tall white dresser because it is lovely but same price as new. Loved the coffee table, so modern and light. Kudos on the table and chairs, I really loved the color choice and what a wonderful gift. I love your channel, you are so approachable and normal and will subscribe for sure. I think my favourite might just be the art deco set you delivered but I also loved the white tall boy, the French provincial, and a couple of others, ok almost all. The dresser you did green, I'd paint it all green, it just doesn't look finished. I hope you really mean you like comments because I love the interaction.
You do so much work and you're so creative. I love your quality approach! Just a suggestion: CENTER and MATCH your textured wallpaper. That detail will help you sell quicker. PS: the top left drawer is not sitting square. Subconciously, we want symmetry. Even in people's faces!
On your 7th day of Flipmas you needed to make sure your pattern placement on the drawer fronts were the same. You do an absolutely fabulous job from all videos I have seen so far!!! Love how detailed & knowledgeable you are about all of the newer paints & products!
I think it would be really cool to lighten the same shade of green twice and then give it a sort of upside down bleed look. So the lightest Green on top then medium then darkest green on the bottom. It would give it a sort of tye dye look and make it softer, almost fairy tale ish.
I love this "show". Teaches me so much, about art, measurement, shape, depth, weight, tools, don't despair, patience, colors, dexterity, self-confidence, self pride, humbleness, time, texture... thank you!
It's a great idea also, to present other items for sale along with your main piece...kinda like having fries with your burger. I love that mirror with this dresser!
I absolutely love the green dresser on day 11, i wasnt sure how it would turn out when you started pouring the paints on but it turned out so beautiful and the colours look great with the green
