Before we celebrate America's Independence Day, we thought we'd pay homage to our own National Treasure, Mr. Gene Watson! In this video for Gene's "I Forget You Everyday", we take a look back at some rare historic photos spanning the illustrious 50+ year career of "the Singer's Singer". This is so good by him. He is such a great singer. I don't think I've ever heard a Gene Watson song that I didn't like. Have seen him many times in concert and chat with him after his shows. He is always so gracious. I just love him and his music!!

Boy howdy there Herb. You ain't standin' alone with that sentiment. I'm so thankful that Gene crawled-out of the bottle, 'cause he's right up there with Ray Price as the best of true 'country-soul-singers' and people need to realize that. When you've bounced on down life's highway and made it over some rough potholes, the lucky ones come away with a mirror of reflection that shows in their art-form, as in Gene's case. I'm in my 82nd annual go-'round and have such an appreciation of life's lessons of the past, so I also have great respect for Gene's rebirth as a man AND as a singer. Having the introspection to see said life's lessons clearly is what allows one to come 'round full-circle and renew one's soul and belief in The Almighty. TRUE country reaches-out and tugs at your very soul by awakening YOU to all the love you have surrounding you. I can't hardly listen to a Gene Watson song delivery w/out tearin'- up and I don't mind ownin' up to that reality neither.

Gene, its sad to say that: I was and still am an egotistical person. In the early 80's, the DJ would play "Fourteen Carat Mind", as soon as he noticed I walked in the door of the club because it was my favorite dance song and he would get a nice tip. BUT, I am glad that God has taken a hold of me and changed a thing or two. Thank you for ALL your contributions to the music industry. You are unique and very blessed.

ironic, i was telling someone the other day just that, i try to match the change in his voice to the looks over the years, as he aged his voice got a little deeper and a little raspy, made him even more special to me. i liked the clean cut gene of the really early years, he looked like what he was at the time, a hard working man busing his butt to earn a living and even harder living his dream, but then i really like the look of him now, maybe because im so old too.
