Glad to hear she is doing well, miss her on Try shoots. Still curious as to how she likes living in the US now and what she misses about living in Ireland.

I wish I could have had that conversation with my mom. She has dementia now and it wouldn't be fair to bring that stuff up with her. Congrats to Dr. Sarina for growing up healthy and having the courage to put this out for the world to see.

this is an older video I'm seeing now but Sarina... it's weird cause I was born and raised in America, and I had a similar upbringing. going to catholic schools and my first experience getting the body of Christ. my mom giving me the opportunity to learn about other cultures and religions. my mom also kept me from a lot of "FUN" stuff which i now thank her for doing.

Sarina is so beautiful, and am happy she shared this. Great story! And now living in the USA too. Wonderful. I left home when I was 15 yrs old, due to a step father that admittedly hated me. I held that against my mom for years. But have forgiven her and she & I made ammends before her passing. My step dad is still the worst and although he is still alive, we have not seen or spoke to each other in decades.

I'll be 57 next Saturday. And I'm *just* beginning to figure out all the harm my mother did in raising me. I didn't know her burden. But she sure as shit didn't have to give me mine.

Becoming conscious and not passing it onto others is all we can really do. Letting go of the resentment frees us up from past pain. I think this is the root takeaway of this podcast, for me anyway

i think a lot of the problems i see with people in this country, especially those raised in very conservative religious environments, is that they never even realize their need to be their own person. they need to think for themselves, and they need to question things and find their own way. instead, they just follow blindly along in the way they were raised and never develop their capacity for change and growth. i'm not saying they need to abandon their religion or rebel against their parents, but they need to progress as individuals and understand that previous generations weren't perfect or had all the right answers. and that that's okay. it doesn't invalidate their parents or their upbringing. it just means that we all have a lot of room to grow and make this world a better place. and that means abandoning the mistakes of the past, our own and those who went before us.

I did that I got a darn pink dress my apartment complex and cooper invited us to his niece's communion and said we where the first he leased himself, his husband handled the rest.I said "I have to go, mommy mommy can we go?".And we all three had shopped for a dress that is made by puma the brand and proofed the maker was in town and said he blessed. And he burped me and mom knew something was ul I pushed her face and my landlord said something after his laugh abouy claiming what happend and how funny it was.And he said not to worry he'll take care of him.Not sure what that meant other than it was worth it to be nice to a gay I got to meet many lovely people and had the best first church going ever and it had a cross on top so it was a real church.:)

Well... In an Indian family that's rebelling. A lot leave home when they get married still. I left home the day after my high school graduation because of my toxic family (still is, unfortunately). I didn't move across town, I moved 1600 miles away.
