By the way Laith, the reason you have all those causus belli's is because islamic clan governments have the conquer causus belli against everyone except fellow vassals or their liege

Osman I (First Ottoman Bey/Ruler) had a very interesting method of taking land in the Byzantine Empire and neighboring Beyliks, it was quite ingenious. He would promise Byzantine Anatolian towns protection in return for them storing his belongings inside of their land, this freed Osman from having to settle down as much as most Beyliks and let him be much more maneuverable. Osman's men casually strolling around these towns and defending them more effectively than the Byzantine overlords lead a lot of these towns to defect to Osman (willingly or unwillingly). Edit: I should add before any misunderstandings that Osman also conquered land in the traditional sense as well.

In fact, if you made the option of conquering both Pontus and Anatolia and forming the Rum Sultanate, it would be the closest game style to the Ottoman Empire. You could even make a hybrid culture from Oghuz and Greek cultures and name it "Ottoman Turk". But still nice video, keep up the series ^^

@@derekskelton4187 Yeah, that one takes a tad longer to get to, and once you have siege engines en masse its a little outclassed. Learning/Stewardship lifestyles ftw.

@@dr0g_Oakblood My first character will always be of Martial Education, and I tend to go straight down Control, get four in the gallant, and I get the nice buffs for my men at arms in Strategist as well as the siege buff. Then I go down August, and then finish with Architect. Because, usually, the last part of my conquering character, I just want to establish and build my territories. Depending on how much I need to conquer with my heir, I'll either make them continue Martial & August, or if I'm comfortable I'll continue down Stewardship and build the lands more and more. In this playthrough, I'd do a crap ton of conquering with my first 3 characters then start truly go down Architect and doing Theology & Scholar.

3:00 It's because of the Clan Government type, I think. You're conquering for the overall realm as opposed to just your holdings.

its because almost all of ck3s files were imported from ck2 but for some reason they dont want to add the content from there for now

It wouldn't make sense to "form the Ottomans", as the name itself refers to their founding dynasty. You can, however, form the Sultanate of Rum, which is equivalent to the Ottomans in that you can only form it as a non-Greek Muslim controlling parts of Anatolia.

you know, there is a seljuk character in 1066 that has an achievement to him for forming rum. He is if im correct the ancestors to those who formed the ottoman dynasty. Pls correct if wrong

No the ottomans were vassals of the seljuks that then when the seljuks became part of the mongol empire they too became their subject and then when the mongol empire started crushing down the ottomans and other beyliks became independent its a oversimplification but thats it

On the Turkic migrations, hasn't the development of the Oghuz identity already mostly occurred by this start date? North of the Caspian Sea, there's already an Oghuz Khanate there, among which one clan would rise as the Seljuk Turks, and in turn the Ottoman Dynasty.

Came here to say the same thing. The Turkic migration into the area between the Caspian and Aral seas already occurred in 766. He could have just played as them. Oghuz IL.

@@FlightofCrows Quite difficult, I actually tried to do such a run back in Jan 2022 (Oghuz -> Persian Empire -> Byzantine Empire, referring to dejure titles) (not Ironman, of course, I want my reloads.) I think I stopped after I conquered all of modern Iran.

The Duchy of Thrace/County of Constantinople is really OP. I conquered it as a Varangian adventurer (Dyre) and it alone makes you as strong as the Byzzies without it.

A tip for managing the realm, there isn't really a reason to create duchy titles to give to vassals unless you are over your vassal limit. Controlling counts directly will make you more money and levies than if they were under a duke. Also it saves you some money because vassals, provided they are over their domain limit and hold the required land to form a duchy, will create their own titles, even if it means they have to go into debt to do so. (they still pay you taxes even when in debt)

Another thing too, for Clan Governments, you only get taxes & levies from them if they have a high opinion of you. Which, also, you have to be their rightful liege, which means, you have to own that duchy or kingdom. Now, you can also grant the duchy to them and own that kingdom they are apart of.

Bruh. You could have just played as Oghuz IL. The Turkic people weren't still in Mongolia by this start date. There was a Turkic state between the Aral and Caspian seas- Oghuz IL. That state is where the Seljuks arise from, and from the Seljuks, the Ottomans. You're thinking of the Mongols still being east of the game map.

You have to came from back of the caspian sea. After that you should beat Abbasid and form Saljuk. Then Saljuks has to split into Ottomans and Safavids. There is time till Safavids though at least there should be Aqqoyunlu and Qaraqoyunlu nations. BTW: Aqqoyun means white sheep and Qaraqoyun means blacksheep

u were playing so fast i could not understand a thing that was going on, i cant really watch bc of that unfortunately seems like an interesting vid if i could, no one does letsplays anymore and it makes it really difficult to find useful youtube videos to get into games i wanna get into ck3 but videos like this just make it impossible to and id much rather casually learn than have to watch a dedicated tutorial. Now strategy game content is split up into dedicated tutorial and whatever u call this style of video neither which i like that much. So i havent been able to find any strategy games content recently at all and its super frustrating cuz its pretty much the only thing i want to watch.
