@burnout 184, NYC has tons of these apartments. They are usually found in prewar buildings and are rent stabilized. I always told non New Yorkers there's inexpensive decent apartments in NYC. I was born & live in NYC, everybody isn't rich or could afford to pay $4,000-$6,000 a month rent. There's a lot of low income people who need apartments they can afford. There's quite a bit of nice 1& 2 bedroom apartments under $1,600 a month in decent neighborhoods here in NYC. He's just finally showing them. Don't believe everything you hear about NYC, believe what you know. Thanks Cash & Have A Great Week ❤!!!
@EastSide-qc5oy
@EastSide-qc5oy Год назад
Yes, but those apartments are very difficult to find unless you know a lot of people and are constantly asking around, or have “ins” with owners and property managers. Folks such as yourself have an advantage because born and raised tend to have those connections much more than transplants. Also people have to keep in mind that rent stabilized units sometimes or perhaps often get the short end of the stick when it comes to repairs and upgrades. Landlords focus their resources and attention on profit producing market rate units. Landlords can be slow to respond to needs. Apartments can fall into poor conditions. The city can get involved to enforce tenant rights but that’s not always a magic bullet.

Fort George was the last fort built during the Revolutionary War. The neighborhood sits on a ridge from 181st street to Dykman Street and Broadway to the Harlem river. The Cloister museum is close by. The blocks are extremely hilly and steep. The area is also known as nosebleed heights due to the ridge it sits on. Not the worst neighborhood but remember to get to midtown 30 minutes, downtown, Queens or Brooklyn longer. Late night train rides through some neighborhoods could be iffy. Pretty neighborhood with lots of parks and history abounds.

I'd take the first one. The layout is better I think. But I'd make sure to have the locks changed after I move in. But I'd insist on that no matter where I lived. Having big radiators can be great in the winter. Just put a pan of water on it and voila! a humidifier. Also great for keeping food a little warmer while entertaining. Just be sure to vacuum the radiator boxes at least twice a month. A LOT of dust can gather there. Believe me LoL.
@kp6289

I like my radiators. I grew in with them in my house in Ozone Park Queens and remember putting my socks, hat, and mittens on if after coming home in rain/snow, the water pan humidifiers, and I know many people find the sounds annoying but they soothe me because they were the background music to my childhood, along with the A train El 2 blocks up.

My old hanging out with my friends neighborhood. Washington Heights. I was born there & I traveled through that bus terminal for years in the 60’s and 70’s. Taking the bus from N.Y. the GWB terminal to home in Glen Rock, NJ. Thank you for the video reminding me of much of my childhood & teen years.

I personally have not viewed an apartment in Washington Heights (where I currently live on the west side ) for $1000 in about ten years, and the one I saw was a dump with eviction stickers everywhere-but east of broadway, which is where these apartments are, in prewar walkups without laundry deals definitely can routinely be found, and maybe even in elevator laundry buildings. A little loud there, especially in summer, but housing stock can be good.

Another well done video as per usual. 🙂 I just wanted to say that walking down that very long graffitti covered tunnel that went to the subway would be a little nerve racking considering all the crime on the subways.

#1 It's me. Hi. I'm the problem. It's me! Hey Cash, Good morning, good morning. Can't wait to see your apartments, they gotta be cheaper than a ticket to a Taylor Swift concert. $22,000. OMG! Yeah I'm the problem. Right! Glad that place has character but not characters. More is not always better. Let's go back to Yokohama soon. Or wait til the Captain is about 6 months old. Love 💕 this tour. You're rockin' our world, kid!! One gee for a decent place in NYC? I must be dreamin'!!!😆

Great price for both units. I love the charm of older apartments, but those Fogo Island Inn type of stilts, for a building that size, made my heart race 😬. I do live near the San Andreas Fault, so I suppose my trepidation is understandable. BTW, Fort Tryon Park and The Cloisters are beautiful spots to hang out!

Here is my experience. I moved in and got a killer deal. Cheap cheap cheap, but after only a few months they raised the rent, and then raise it again, and again, and again, and finally again. So it was no good deal, just worse then the expensive ones. I think they do it, to hook you and then screw you.

FYI. This is Washington Heights/Inwood.- Post Pandemic That subway tunnel Should tell you everything you need to know. I know the area It's LOUD (This used to be the cocaine capital of the country. They sold it by the pound) Be mindful of Drug dealers doing business on every block. Random shootings are commonplace and you wouldn't want to "catch a stray" (bullet) There's also trash everywhere, much of which doesn't make the cans and it's also fairly isolated. However, Riverside Drive is nice and Washington Heights south of 167th ( Columbia Presbyterian) is pretty calm now and with a nice mix of people. But if you can handle it, fine.

Great tour Cash! If we tour apartment’s on our own we wouldn’t have the terrific commentary by Cash Jordan in that unmistakable NY accent!! That could be a deal breaker right there!! BTW both apartments are great but IDK about having to pass through that tunnel by myself. It looks like the scene for some crime scene show where the beautiful young woman going through the tunnel is murdered. That alone might make me want to rent the other place !!

When I read comments before seeing the building with the metal supports, I thoughts of it being on stilts. That support system looks substantial and well done. I wouldn't worry about it's ability to support the building.
