@@schmucklesux6468 easiest way to describe them is a cardboard slot machine. Little squares of cardboard with (typically 3) perforated tabs that you pull open to see if you've got a winner.
@@elijahjakobsen7898 Yes sir! My grandfather is from Ålesund. I visited there about 15 years ago. It is such a beautiful country - I can’t wait to go back someday. It’s also a goal of mine to learn the language. It’s not going well, I know 3 or 4 phrases.
@@Tex-Toons Alright, cool! Yeah, it's quite magical. Eventhough I have traveled alot outside of Norway; traveling around Norway just fills me with some insane positive energy. Dramatic landscape for sure. People say Norwegian is quite easy to learn, so I guess you've just got to find the time and grind out a few long sessions. Once you hear a few words you've learned, you can quite easily piece together what the person you're having a conversation with mean with the sentence/question being posed. If you ever swing by; snowboarding during june/july 30 minutes away from the sea which usually holds 68f++ with bbq opportunities and bluebird weather at Folgefonna glacier is something I definitely recommend if you're into skiing, snowboarding, or just hiking. Holy shit that was a novel. My bad 😂
I live in IL. We do enjoy taking road trips to our neighboring states and I have been here. The area is beautiful and though I didn't stop in this bar, I did turn around in their parking lot to head back home. What a small world.
Love the older fella next to ya who did not give a DAMN and clearly had that "Doesn't this guy work?" and "Get the eff out of my bar." vibe going. The bartender seemed to be barely tolerating the event too and was obviously not super comfortable on camera either. Hysterical. Also, for a guy who grew up with a lake house, you can't skip a rock worth a damn. That is all.
@@RETRO-RANEYS-RESTORATIONS English is hard. "I'll bet you're real fun at parties, douche." Maybe you should refrain from commenting until you tighten up your writing.
Yeah there is more than corn in Iowa, there are cows and more pigs than we can count, oh and soybeans. Then there is Okoboji, Field of Dreams, Court Center (downtown Des Moines) and then some of the best small town bars you can ask for!
Love the small town bars! Awesome job! Venture out west to north Idaho and see how small the home town bars are! Lol! Try the Tervan in Sandpoint Idaho! Lol! Love it!
As a Scotsman who happened to be passing through I can concur. I can still feel the steely cold of the early morning Appanoose sidewalk, as I tried and failed several times to walk back to my digs.
I've ridden a bicycle across 31 states so far. Been to a LOT of small town bars. My favorite was in eastern Montana. Bar tender/owner was a smaller woman. Had some sort of refrigerated device behind her. 20 some odd doors about shoulder height. "Can I get a pbr?" With out looking shed just throw a back fist and a cold pbr would drop in her hand. I drank extra heavily that day just to watch. Nice place. I'd recommend it but they didn't have a sign....or much of a town really.
Dude i grew up 15 mins from there. I know everyone there 😂. If you get back down that way you gotta check out bs general store in folletts. Just a short drive down river road. Its the best dive bar in the midwest.
As someone who grew up in Southeast Iowa I can say this is the most Iowan bar i have ever seen, aside from one in a small town not too far from lake Rathbun.
I live across the Mississippi River from Sabula. I actually saw someone I know at that bar- so funny!! Maybe you can come back and stop into Savanna,IL
Great timing! I'm planning a run out to Wyoming in my van and was scouting out cool stuff between here in Buffalo, Ny and thattaway. Bonus if the bar owner will let me overnight my van in the parking lot..its my home on the road 😎
I am sure you get suggestions all the time, but the FIB's got this on stilts called Blarney Island its a tourist attraction maybe not small Midwest bar.
Welcome to God's country! There is a island bar in prairie DU chien Wisconsin too. Just up stream. The bars in mc Gregor Iowa rock too. Ok most places on the Mississippi rock!
Welcome to Iowa and 8-liners as they are called. You win tickets that allow you to buy drinks in that bar but make the amusement companies that supply the games a lot of money!
You should go to Blarney Island on Grass Lake in chain of lakes in Illinois (no S)...it's the key west of the mid west...spent many days blasted there back in my yute
So I know it's not Iowa, but you gotta visit Blarney's Island out on the Grass lake in Antioch Illinois. It's the place to be if lakes and boats and drinking is your thing.
