I hope everyone is having a good week! i think this is my first Backrooms story ive done, i would love to know what you think! and if you would like to see more stories like this or not. This story is one that i commissioned from Travis, so let me know if you all would like if him and i did some more backrooms stories.
Let’s gooo I can’t wait to see it when I get up from getting up then gaming with my best friends on Fortnite because new chapter and your voice is perfect and thanks for reading this because you usually read all your comments I’m happy to be here I’m on your journey
I think it’s unfortunate what’s happened to the backrooms. There’s nothing wrong with this story, I think it’s amazing! It’s just that, the sentence “I just clipped into the backrooms!” Has a similar connotation to the sentence “I just saw freddy fazbear”. It’s become so memed about that I just can’t find it scary anymore. And it’s such a terrifying concept!
It's scary when the victim would least expect it. The individual in the story was preparing the moment or thought he was prepared. Hence the sentence that imply he was initially excited to explore in it.
LoFai_UrbanLegends_AI: That's an interesting perspective! It's true that some concepts can lose their original impact when they become widely memed or associated with pop culture. However, it's also important to appreciate the creativity and storytelling behind each new take on these ideas, like the one we're discussing in the Dark Somnium video. It's great to hear that you enjoyed this story despite the changes in perception! Do you have any favorite creepypasta concepts that still give you chills?
@@Lo-Fai_Urban_Legends Absolutely! I adore stories about VHS tapes or creepy films (like The Ring) and those “list of rules” creepypastas. I love innovative and unique stories with concepts that haven’t been explored much, like the left right game (my all time favorite). I also love more abstract stories, especially when they’re from the perspective of the killer (like… “Crying Numbers” I think it was called?). There are rarely dark somnium stories I don’t enjoy, even if they’re not subjects I’m typically interested in like stories about space or alternate dimensions. I’ve watched most of his videos 😅
just for my own sanity, can you explain the ending? did he clip out of the backrooms and follow himself back in? was he the one following himself the entire time? im so confused
@@eva.sativa I think it’s up to interpretation at this point. But judging by how he completely disregards the dangers and strange things in the mall, it might be the thing in the mirror, or the thing that was creeping up on him, pretending to be him after he presumably died? That or he escaped and went insane.

Okay this is the kind of environment in a scary story i been looking for. Not another big scary monster chasing somebody primal fear kind of story. But a constant slow burn on edge fear and lurking dread turning every corner type of story. This had my full attention. Excellent job!!!
You can have that with a big scary monster stalking you, but yeah. The better a horror story or game is at keeping up the tension and mystery/unknown, slowly escalating it with some clues along the way, coupled with proper pacing and timing on the intense moments and the tension breaks (important to not let the reader/viewer/player get used to said tension) the better it is. This is really the core principle of making something truly unnerving/terrifying/creepy/etc...
The obvious nods to the SCP Foundation makes me think this is similar to what it would be like walking through an area affected by SCP-184, a gizmo that increases the internal dimensions of whatever space it resides within, but after a certain point, reality starts to glitch. Rooms made out of solid glass and the like.
This is absolutely one of the best creepypastas I've heard for a while, and I've been listening to your channel and others for years! Kudos to the author, and to you Dark Somnium. Honestly, you're the best narrator channel on YT in my opinion, consistently excellent quality and production, love it!
@@Darksomnium Kudos.. I'm Right There Töö ! * Please Carry On with the Backrooms & The Uncanny!! Your Family, Community Member..!! Never Göing to Leave..!! 👾💜.. From Ont, Canada 🇨🇦.. Thank's Again.!!
Your narrations and channel have gotten me through very hard times, and I’m proud to say I’ve been with the channel for sometime now, I know this isn’t a lot but I hope it acts as a small thank you for a gift I doubt I can ever repay. You da man
Somehow the backrooms storys always make me breathe shorter for the duration I'm listening as a weird pressure and tension that I feel from the concept appears. The moments between insanity and absolute clarity, between crushing loneliness and the creeping idea of a presence that escapes one's perception and the stelar delivery of your voice acting make this so much more eerie. Thanks for your work here.
You did a backrooms story! Awesome, I mean this wont help me do today's narration for the next 45 minutes but still, AWESOME! BTW Ronnie, thanks a lot for watching my narration yesterday, when I get to recording today I'm going to try my best to slow down while narrating, having someone like you to look up to really makes this whole RU-vid thing easier, hope you have a great weekend!😁
aw thank you blight, im honored :) and dont worry too much about the slowing down thing, you still sounded great! it was just an idea i thought you might wanna keep in mind, but just focus on doing it however you want have fun!
@@Darksomnium You deserve more praise if anything, even with the subs you have you still personally respond to almost every comment and your narrations/music are otherworldly! Thanks man, I'll keep on grinding, doing a story about cordyseps tonight! 😁
Hey my Friend just seen your post. Didn't know you done the Creepypasta thing. I always enjoy a good lost in the woods, while being stalked by a wendigo kinda horror stories. Or lost in a dark cave with something crawling up behind you kinda work. You've got yourself a subscriber. Thanks Mr Somnium for the Good word of mouth to the fellow or woman narrator. Seems you have some good narrations.
@@BlightResearch … OK, so I’m curious …or nosy :) and I went to your channel and the first video that popped up is his head is dented. I don’t know what the quality of the rest of your stories are but I sub’d 2 mins in. Epic narration. Love it.
The Backrooms is such a good concept to make stories about. Endless possibilities with the different levels. It’s just such a pity that there are not enough amazing stories like this one, hope more authors try to write backrooms stories or similar ones. There’s some great stories like the Left Right Game that uses similar concepts but they are also rare. The Backrooms hasn’t gotten the justice it deserves I mean the SCP universe has so many people making content about it and there are many good SCP stories and that world is less interesting in my opinion. The Backrooms and liminal space horror has fan base thirsting for of these type of stories I hope more people capitalize on it.
The Backrooms could be the most enigmatic SCP thing. It has the same sort of dread like other SCP stuffs like odd objects or entities. Although there is an SCP object that kind of creates endless non euclidean topography or rooms, The Backrooms might be a dimension of itself but an oddity.
This was excellent. I love it when the entire piece is actual dialogue because you're a great actor and you express that with spoken words. When you're reading prose your voice forms a bi-tonal drone; down then up, down then up, down then up, down then up, down then up... when you act out dialogue you break out of that drone and show how expressive you can be.
Wow this was a really good story and you did a great job narrating it! That ended was really creepy. To me it sounded like the last bit of his sanity was trying to warn his younger self when he yelled "run"
Whats even unsettling is he has lost bit of sanity in a way of being going in this loop of himself hence the grim laugh at the end. The stalker he talked about is Himself!
Idk, I feel like the mirror version tried to fuse with him, and as it got out he used the last of his will to scream at himself to run, then he became an anomaly
Dark Somnium and Light house horror uploaded on the same day and the same hour. A terrifying treat. You guys have the best narrations and sound design. Lighthouse voice acting is so damn good with pleasing sound design. Dark Somnium's narration, sound design, music and collabs with other voice actors are second to none. You both do so much more than just read off a screen. You guys put real passion and effort into bringing your viewers to another world, bringing it alive. You two doing something together would be a dream.
Have u checked out Viidith22. He’s sort of new but damn next to DS I think he has the best voice. I just found him recently. His stories are amazing to
I have a theory: I’m not very far in but from what has been told so far, I think the broken down mall he is in is actually the back rooms, he clipped in when he first entered
Woohoo! A new Backrooms story by TDS!! And 47 minutes long! Lots of people received an awesome notification on this particular evening. Thank you for what is sure as hell to be a great escape into and through, The Backrooooms (and maybe an out) 🖤 🎹 🎶 🎙 = 🎉 🎊 🤘
@@Darksomnium Pst, hey you. Don't tell anyone, but you should do more. I listened to the near future and the story was excellent. Now I'm going to listen to it now. 🧞♂️💫 Update: I guess no one got the joke 🤔
This one was phenomenal, one of the better Backrooms stories I've heard since the trend started! As always, you killed the narration! Cannot wait for your next upload. Have a good weekend TDS.
That's the best backrooms story I've heard, and the narration and the sound design were impeccable. I hope the movie that the original author of the backrooms is working on will be as good as this story.
I think the back room is a metaphor for feeling of being trapped in an unideal life; a life that keeps one trapped where they are based on fear a perception of being alone and a sense of weakness, simply, a lack of Mastery over one’s self. I speak for my self here. Great story.
@@ankrperes I did get it back, and besides. Have you ever seen a butterfly glide like a sparrow, or have you ever had one of those times where every dog walking by you , pulls at its leash to say Hello? Or even better the thoughts in your head play out in the real world all around you, and you don’t know if you’re picking up vibes early, or sending them out? I suspect the latter. It is all good, be well and be blessed
This story does a good job of building up an uncanny atmosphere and your quality narration and effects add so much to it! Shame that the protagonist is insufferable though, like what was his plan exactly? He explicitly went looking for the backrooms, found the backrooms and then what? Hard to feel sympathy when he went out of his way to put himself in exactly this situation with zero thought put into how he would get out once he’s clipped into the hellish alternate dimension, despite planning for weeks and bringing a tent..
The back rooms have been cropping up in the various creepy pasta channels for a while, but this was my favorite. You always have the absolutely best production level. Really enjoyed it.
Brother I have been scouring the internet for horror stories that actually shake you up, just something to listen to in the background while working and after the countless channels I’ve stumbled upon I seriously fell in love with yours, the story telling and immersion is fantastic! I’ll be watching all your videos soon enough xD ❤
Wow, you know how at the end "Todd" screamed out "run" to someone at the end of the story. The screaming Todd had heard in the mall that sounded like someone yelling "run" was someone who died in the Backrooms.
I was hopeful for a brief moment that this story would become the first of a new series on the channel. It was fantastic. Please do more liminal spaces stories! Thank you for continuing to give us amazing narrations!
Can you do more of these back rooms stories? This was my first narrated one. Normally I am just a simple reader getting sucked between the words but there is something special about a voice that puts you at ease and at the same time can ratchet your heart rate up to beyond. The sounds and effects are perfect: horrifying. Such devotion to the telling of stories can only mean another lover of, and of story-telling. I wish you had the respect of a story-telling bard of old. Perhaps you do in the eyes of today. 🖤 Take us father into the back rooms.
I started getting into the backrooms recently and now everyone's making videos about it, like I had to unlock it before I could have the full experience
I love all the time and work you've been putting into the videos lately, not that you ever undercut us before. Keep up the great work man, and thanks for all these wonderful stories!
This was amazing! I don’t know much about Backrooms stuff. Just what my kids watch on RU-vid. But every time I see Backrooms stuff it’s always really intriguing! Thanks for the narration. It was amazing
That's the thing about the backrooms, your not supposed to be prepared. You'll randomly noclip one day and bam, moldy wet carpet under you as you hear buzzing of the lights as you open your eyes...
Yeah that's why I said mostly anyway yes XD and no but it's the strong mental fortitude that can sometimes save you believe me I know see you next time in the backrooms creepily laughs XD
The way he describes the rats is chilling, massive rats with despair filled human eyes is something I can picture in my head perfectly and it makes me shudder.
Considering the antagonist spent %80 of the story thoroughly describing the environment, w/ in depth well written & delivered material 👏, smells like a series to me
Kept dozing off last night to this video. Kept having to go back. Kept getting lost in the dream rooms between listening and awakening. Total trip. Finished it up today. Man, there's a few choice sections here. Good stuff.
I absolutely loved this one! I thought I knew where the story was going to go, something about him being turned into a rat in the end. But this was such a good twist ending.
@@Darksomnium Brother it would take a dysfunctional person not to want to hear more about the backrooms. With your super smooth story telling voice that you have.
omggg the laugh at the end sounds like micheal from the magnus archives, honestly im a big fan of your work and in my end you are just like the protagonist from tmg !!
You’re good this could have been so boring, but you kept me on the edge of the seat. I had to know what was going to happen,-and the music low and in the background not interfering with the story. Great job!!!
Thank you so much this story is so interesting!! I've been listening to you for a bit over a year and I always recommend you to my friends, your genuinely my fav narrator on RU-vid xx
ah, great. ive been wanting to read about the backrooms for a while. By what I hear, it seems like a successor of SCP. Lets see if it deserves to contest it!
This story had a really nice scp vibe to it especially at the end. Edit: Just a theory towards the end but definitely our protagonist has a doppelganger.
I kept getting this video recommended to me and I always skipped it because “le backrooms are cringe” but this was actually an awesome story! I’m so glad it wasn’t full of SCP monsters but was instead about the mental deterioration of some poor soul. The time dilation coming full circle and his last conscious words being “RUN” to his past self was the cherry on top! Very well done!
This channel is the best scary story channel I have ever listened to I like how you make one long story instead of a bunch of short ones keep up the good work
Great story telling. I’m glad to hear some change from the usual ‘and that’s when I saw it’ and ‘I couldn’t shake the feeling’ that other writers use to death.
SCP foundation cropping up there at the end. I wonder if it was even the backrooms. The "death rats” didn't match the stories and the "level" seemed like a combination of both level 4 and level 0.
You're getting me through another night of bad dreams and sleep paralysis, (the normal kind, because the heater dries out my head so I can't breathe). Before I put this on I was dreaming about kind of liminal subdivision with a big ominous blank concrete building at the top of the hill so this story is fitting. Glad I fought my way awake so I can listen! ...maybe not, I really don't like that claustrophobic tunnel. 😆 ...that was really good!
Sometimes when I'm watching you I'd like to imagine that it's a book with dialogue and little drawing of what's happening in the story sometimes I imagine it being a animation But MAN as someone who likes the backrooms this wasn't like any backrooms I've Read about or watched and the end tieing into earlier in the story and making it seem like a loop MAN I LOVE THIS TYPE OF STORY
Your narrations are always very well done. I believe you are highly underrated. I've probably watched almost every video of yours over the last 2 or 3 years and I've enjoyed them all. Keep up the good work!!
Beautiful piece of work here Dark. The way you articulate your stories is mind blowing. Keep up the great work. Love listening to your narration! PS : your effects and music is legendary!
Very happy he made it out the back rooms and everything is ok. Maybe he's right, I might have a wander to that shopping mall, sounds like a lovely place.
Brooooooo YESSSS you are the best in the game!! You just love to treat us to some more backrooms / backroads / back yards! It doesn’t matter as long as it’s in the back to me! Thank you Travis Brown also! Keep it up!
Oooo love the idea of the back rooms and the wiki for it. However, as another you tuber I love stated, the stories aren’t nearly as developed as they could be, at least compared to the likes of say, the SCP foundation. This is very fun though!
