re: drone. Save the GPS location. Since tree is deciduous, you can wait until fall when leaves drop, checking back after major snow/rain events and especially windstorms. This could bring it down lower or even onto the ground. You could also ask at your local amateur radio (ham) club if someone can lend you and maybe help you with, using an antenna pole (comes in sections) to dislodge it. If club has any experience in launching and retrieving high altitude balloons, they have probably gone through this drill, and may have other ideas.

I love how you worked through the cold there is a lot of that here in Canadia land! The diamond tester is a sweet tool and for sure I will have to get one when I start hunting for lost river things. I think you can rescue that drone even if it's with another drone! Thanks for sharing 😊🇨🇦

Your best find is the old men’s ring with “SM”. It looks like it has been there for many years. Sorry about the drone

I know others have a couple of good ideas on retrieving your drone..waiting til a windy rain event is one...also after the fall when the leaves are gone....but an easier way is to go back to the same spot where you were about 40feet away, with a throw line...like what tree removal and tree climbers would use...its weighted so you can throw it good distances...and unlike a lasso, all you have to do is get it on nearby branches or limbs...when you get a good enough branch, just pull the twine back and forth...shouldn't take very much effort. And the drone should fall out...that will at least get it out of the tree...now it may not save it from breaking on the ground...but have a friend on the ground with something like a light but firm cardboard sheet ...hold it like a catch tray...dont have catch it...just break the fall...that's all...the props need replacement all the time, if you're lucky that will be all the damage...and fyi, we've tried this trick..from the ground ...and it worked like a charm...good luck...ps: I'm sorry ahead of time for this comment...but really, your treasure is in the mirror🙂🙂...thanks for your efforts and vids...you go to some beautiful locations!⚒⛏

I Nora that's a 45 caliber shell, I'm 30 miles SE from the Catskill Mts. on the Hudson River I know you're having a great time detecting under water, most of my metal detecting is on land with some incredible finds. Maybe someday somewhere we could do some digging in the future, for now Godspeed ! Steven

The empty shell casing is from a .45 ACP (automatic colt pistol). It's a handgun cartridge. The NR stands for "non-re loadable". I can't tell what the other stamp is. To me it looks like CCI which is where the cartridge was made. If I am reading it correctly, it was produced in Idaho.

Hi Nora and Lena, Anthony Bastoe again the rubber thing with the 2 circles at each end is used to hold the snorkel onto a diving mask so it could come in handy if you break or lose one. And the bullet casing goes to a semi automatic 45 caliber pistol and any model 45 caliber pistol can use that bullet but they won't work in the old style cowboy pistols. They are more of a newer model semi auto pistol bullet casing.

Enjoyed your video! When I was a senior in college in the Virginia mountains, I was swimming/tubing/"beering" in a decent size river gorge near us. Bored, I borrowed a face mask from a fraternity brother and began exploring at the base of a very small waterfall. Almost immediately I saw a shiny gold object in the sand and rocks that turned out to be a VERY LARGE gold class ring from an adjacent military college. I took the ring to the school's Day Room and asked if there were a student in the class year of the ring with initials that matched those engraved on the inside of the ring. The student officer of the Day Room called up a student to report immediately to the Day Room. I held out my hand with his ring in my palm and asked him if he were missing something. The guy got very emotional and said he had lost it at the river. I really got a kick out of returning it to him 51 years ago. I wonder if he still has it.

Next time you are freezing in the Catskils you could try to call up Andrew Camarata and ask for a warm up in his wood heated grotto at his castle or to lead you to warmer waters arround some Hudson River islands. May be worth a try!

Just started watching your channel and it's pretty cool seeing you explore some of the swimming holes I've been jumping in since I was a kid. The Catskills are amazing in the summer!

That's an old buffalo nickel , it is made out of mostly nickel . It's so weird , normally when you find those in the ground they get corroded, they come out red or brown. You found a shiny one, when I was detecting in Kiawah Island SC , I found a shiny buffalo nickel also. And on a salt water beach , that's like impossible. ... salt usually roaches them. So crazy to see some one find another in shiny condition. The date would be below the Indian head on the front. On that flat raised area. 1913-1938 they were produced. Nice finds, that cold water must have kept it nice. Find some old silver or gold coins now. Great old place to hunt, that has had 300-350 years of potential coins.

The only silver nickels made were from 1942-1945. The silver ones have a mint mark above Monticello, instead of to the right. Love your videos!

Good fins, I have had mine for over 20yrs. To make things easier put some spring straps on on them, they are great when your hand are cold after a dive. Great vid - keep up the good work.

Hi. I'm a rock collector in Canada who also facets gemstones. You have found some amazing jewelry so far. I have a few questions if I can. Do you sell all the jewelry to fund your expenses, or keep some for your personal collection? Or have a display case for odd things? What do you do with the odd pieces (one silver earring etc). Maybe save to melt down to create future jewelry? The diamond tester is cool. Don't forget if it fails it doesn't necessarily mean it's just a fake diamond. It could be some other type or precious or semi-precious stone. Stay safe out there :)

The "rubber thing" is used to attach a snorkel to the strap of a mask when the stock plastic parts breaks.

The first thing is to attach a snorkel to your mask strap. Nice going on your silver, gold and alternative metal body adornment pieces 🤭 "These are not the drones you're looking for!"

Open rings usually are cheap rings. Easy to fit anyone, zero customness. Nice sounds on your video editing. That buffalo coin looks interesting and nice find on the 18k. Keep your adventures up and going!

If you ever get up in that area again take a fishing pole with you to get that drone down out of the tree, I'd suggest using a triple hook with the barbs smashed down, that may help you get your drone back.

Awesome finds. Ok so things are going to happen so dont sweat the drone its nothing! This is a concern to keep in mind.. When diving the caribbean or florida, if you see a moray eel take your pic and get away they have a temper and its just better to not be around them (i know). Boats there is always a danger of one running you down so consider dragging a float with a divers flag.. Great video the water was super clear.

Nora... Sorry about your drone. To warm your fingers and toes after a swim, put some hand warmers in a paper sack with mittens/gloves and double pair of socks. Put them on after you leave the water and dry your hands and feet. Really helps. You are alone today... Hope your friend is well. You be safe and well, also.

Buffalo nickels minted from 1913 - 1938. 75%copper, 25% nickel. I find them quite often while metal detecting here in AZ

Go back to see if the drone has come down with the snow. Also take a fishing rod with you and a snag hook (cut the points off) to try and cast to it to snag it. You should be able to see it now when the leaves are gone.

I love the Catskills and Adirondacks. You should try the area below the Flume Waterfall swim area just south of Wilmington NY in the Adirondacks. There's bound to be a gold mine of finds there. Where was this video shot?

You found the bullet shell that held the bullet that killed Jimmy Hoffa. Nice finds!! When trying to determine if it has a real diamond, there is always a hole on the back side of the object so the light can make the diamond sparkle. Fake objects usually have no hole behind the stone.

You're in my stomping grounds. Yes, the water is a bit chilly in summer, doesn't feel as bad in winter. ;) BTW, they are ALL "old" swimming holes .

Again a great video. Can't wait for the new drone to start buzzing around. We in the upstate of South Carolina have Lake Jocassee which has pretty clear water and lots of folks on the lake. It's a flooded area that engulfed a town in the 1950's so you might dive into somebody's house.

There's a very easy test to check if coins are silver. You just shake it with a small handful of other change. Our modern coins have a very "bright" sound when shaken, and silver coins make a sound that is distinctively "duller". I'm fairly certain those Indian Head Nickels are a modern coin.

cartridge case markings. N R means non reloadable, aluminum case. CCI is the maker. .45 auto is .45 ACP. dented primer means it was fired. target round.

I don't know if anyone commented on the shell casing yet. It was made by CCI and it was for a .45 caliber automatic. Because the case is made out of aluminum, it's stamped NR. Not to be reloaded.

When you turn on the diamond tester, you must hold it in your hand with your finger on that metal plate on the back. Them damn trees!

The casing is from a 45 ACP that is used in a 1911 pistol. Sorry about the drone.

You’ll have to keep an eye out for gold nuggets in those cracks! I use my SDC 2300 in the rivers here in California and find a lot of nuggets

That looked like a great honey hole. Finding the buffalo nickel is great, there should be silver coins there too and even a chance at a good coin , due to the age of the area. The Excalibur is treating you well.

Someone else has probably already answered your question about the 'bullet casing,' it is a spent casing for a .45 caliber ACP (round for a .45 caliber semi automatic pistol, the "R" stamp probably means "Remington," an ammunition manufacturer (good quality.) It's a popular caliber and if you found one there are probably lots more in that general area. Not sure what the 'GCI' stamp at the top means. "Is this bedrock?" I don't think so, the layering tells me it is probably shale rather than granite, shale was formed on the bottom of the ocean before the land was uplifted several hundred million years ago. You sometimes find some interesting fossils imbedded in it, between layers.
