I wouldn't mind some Pan Fried Walleye. Locally sourced potatoes for fries and good ol' Minnesota corn on the cobb. We mostly get fresh Mahi Mahi, Ahi and Marlin. Sometimes Opah.. Okinawaian potatoes and Kahuku corn. Peace, Love and Aloha from Waikiki Hawaii..
@@clivebond7858 Driving all over the UK and heading to other countries while keeping up the same level of positivity like he does on a regular basis is definitely not easy as it seems
Just watching this and on the telly they have announced the passing of Rhinos legend Rob Burrow. Devastating doesn't get anywhere near the feelings - RIP Little Big Man.
@barrywilliams4866 it's not even £2.80 because he rates takeaway gived bigger and cheaper if you go check price for it and how big it is compared to his 😅🤣😅
loving the stream as always i am now 68 and a young teen ager my grandparents lived in Outwood just outside Wakefield and the fish shop (not chippy lol ) sold only fish chips and specials and nothing else and of course all done in beef dripping as a 12 year old i used to watch the fish being skinned sat outside served up wrapped in the local newspaper which my nan used sit there eating her dinner and reading the paper many thanks for all the time and work you put into your videos cheers 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I live in Oldham and none of the chippies as far as I'm aware cook in beef dripping, have to go over the border into Yorkshire to get some, nearest I know is Outlane fisheries and the food is superb.
@@ninasampson5219 its well over 50 years tha last time i was in outwood the fish was was on a corner on main road grand parents lived on phillip garth and a few relatives worked in lofthouse pit and i have a picture of grandad looking after the pit ponies after he broke his leg working at the coal face
I've seen you review so many fish and chip spots, but I have to say, this one looks the best to me. That crunch and golden brown color! I'm sitting at my computer drooling right now. Cheers! -Scott
Proper Proper fishcake that. Its What they were like in my childhood in Yorkshire...... No one does these anywhere else in UK..as far as I know. It's a Yorkshire thing... Excellent review Danny ..food looks and no doubt tastes magnificent..!!
To all the commenters talking about tax dodging etc., you do know that once upon a time back int' olden days, there were no bank cards, do you not? As long as their till rolls (or digital equivalent) are kept for inspection they are doing nothing wrong. They are simply avoiding the transaction charges associated with taking card payments, as is their right. It probably helps them to stay in business giving the apparent amazing value of what they are selling.
I totally agree, Banks make money on every card transaction, with Cash the shop saves about 3% or more in costs, it pay the wages or gets passed on in cheaper food prices. If everyone stops using cash the banks will have us where they want us, then we will be charged a 3-5% FEE and pay even more, The Banks love Fee's, it fills their pockets, People need to wake up we are losing control of our Money.
Looks beautiful, and you wont get that as cheap anywhere else for sure. Love your vlogs brilliant thanks. Next time I am in Yorkshire I will defo try it out. Thanks again for your vlogs they are always brilliant.
Great video as always mate not watched you since you was in turkey as I've been bunged up in hospital with a collapsed lung 🙄but back home recovering so got a few vids to get through recovering those fish and chips looked banging hope you had a good holiday mate all the best 👍
I had fish and chips on friday last week. 13 quid, and it was absolutely shocking! Those chips are hand cut in the chippy! That's a proper looking chippy dinner!
its my local chippy and you need to remember the fish he had was a special the normal is normal size and just as good but cheaper and cheaper than most to be truthful,
Fish looked lush chips a tad too dark for me. Fishcake looked awesome. Everything about the shop looked good. Even the outside with the flowers..... And the kids 🤣
Only 1 comment on cash only or personal bank transfer! Danny's followers usually rip into takeaways run by the 'other kind'. One rule for one, one for the other! Bigoted hypocrites
I love the way he knows nothing about food, talks about food like my dad. Danny could be served a deep fried tennis shoe and would still say "cooked to perfection" 😂😂
George-a-Green is on Lupset Estate at Wakefield. The majority of Lupset Estate is named after Robin Hood characters. That road is one of the main roads through the Estate. Only thing that let's the Chippy down is, it's not open long enough. Fish is bang on cooked to perfection (despite what people say on FB groups), proper fishcake, proper brown chips, none of that veggie oil anaemic chips here.
Love...love...love watching your adventures with takeaway restaurants. It's really hard seeing all the fantastic fish & chip shops you go to knowing I'll never get there. Although, I could go to Santa Monica pier and get a Japanese hot dog with seaweed on it....uh, no. Danny, you have a real gift interacting with all your fans that come up to say hi and get a picture. The fish & chips from this shop look awesome. I believe the golden pile of chips you have are calling out for some ketchup. (wink) Blessings from Michigan, USA!
Great video upload. Informative and entertaining throughout. Compared to the 'average' price here in Leicester what you paid was quite expensive. The total for what you paid could have accommodated a couple to have had a cheap meal out at a restaurant! Sadly, despite the taste and look of the food it really comes down to affordability and cheapness for me. Everything has gone up these days so every penny counts. The average cost for fish and chips with a small pot of curry sauce here in Leicester is £8.60. An enjoyable video upload. Thank you for sharing your experience.
You need to come to Australia "Dan Devours Downunder" Thanks for all the episodes you help my appetite, been having Chemo for three years every time I watch Rate my Takeaway I'm hungry. Thanks mate 🙏
Can’t believe there are still businesses that don’t take card payments. Just losing customers in this day and age. Also hate businesses that don’t take cash. You should decide how to pay, not them
Get a grip mate cash is KING. Ask yourself why your so lazy you canit withdraw your money sheer laziness what gives you the right to also say how you pay ? Mad man
Not accepting cash is much more problematic. Personally, I boycott all business who won’t accept cash and support those who don’t accept card payments.
The amount of oil/grease coming off that giant fish strip would make any American proud.....though I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing lol
There are no cash points nearby, plus a bank transfer is instant for the business, not waiting 2-5 days for the processing bank nor paying the charges, paper rolls and machine rental costs
That fishcake is the most incredible thing I've ever seen!!!!! £2.60????? I'm over that way quite often and drive the Snake Rd or Woodhead home often. The next time I'm there this is now my #1 Priority!
Great chippy, excellent value too since you dont have to be paying for the card machine costs, neither does the owner have to wait 2-5 days for funds to clear. Having had a restaurant myself in the past, this is perfectly normal. Simple practice with as little involvement from the robbing banks as possible.
Tried for the first time yesterday…. What can I say…… apart from absolutely gorgeous 💯 Proper old school Yorkshire style chippy…. Excellent, generous and genuine staff The fish & chips are hands down the BEST I’ve ever had… and trust me I know my fish & chips… FISH CAKE …. Effin hell …. NEXT LEVEL.. 💯 one of the Top chippys in the country… these guys know exactly what they’re doing…. If your in or passing Wakefield… honestly pass by this place you will NOT be disappointed Top job guys 👍💯
Its normal chippy sausage Danny!! 🤪 Fish looked a bit overdone for my taste, a bit dry looking. Those chips looked as he said, like old skool proper chips. Fishcake looked interesting & was massive. Strangely he was gasping for breath just eating it! Take it easy dude, we want to see these reviews for many years!
It is good to see another bloke who gets stuck in to his fish and chips.I too love a decent piece of battered fish and crisp chips for my Friday dinner. Our local chippies change hands often enough to disappoint me regularly as every blooming time a shop gets a bit of a reputation the owner gets an offer to sell that he can't refuse then the quality goes down, down, down. Usually the portion size is decreased and the oil is changed less often resulting in the fry-up tasting like burnt engine oil. It happened to the closest one just a couple month ago. Blast and dang. It will take the new owners a while to rebuild the reputation lost by their recent unwelcome changes. The chippy shop, one suburb over was owned by a good mate who was a fish fanatic. Everything had to be perfect. A real dining experience and his Missus Lady Wife was one of those genuine friendly , nice types who would slip in an extra sea scallop or fish-bit to take the sting out of the still reasonable prices. They got 'The Offer' a number of times and just had to take it in the end for their retirement was looming. Gee, I miss the big family feeds we used to get from there. Now, it is just me and my Good Lady and we still tend to shop around for a decent bit of Friday fried food but the only once a week. Support your local shop owners.
@@russmart90 If/when the power goes out, those cards and that phone won't be good for much. I always keep a few bucks on hand, cash will never completely disappear, it may be greatly diminished, but it won't go away. Banks and governments love a cashless society, they can track your every move.
@@russmart90 Wake up pal, the banks whatever they can get out of you and you don't even see it, you will be paying Transaction fee's once cash is gone, just you wait n see, its a slow transition but its happening.
I commented for you to try here on vid you did on whiteheads in Hornsea pal and as I say I think that’s decent but this one to me has nailed everything and it’s always bang on.
Living in Florida, Im confused by the curry sauce, gravy and smashed peas. Here its unheard of. Lemon, tartar sauce or maybe cocktail sauce. Appreciate the show. Cheers mate.
Danny,...very nice chap, interacts with the public and fans which is good to see BUT,PLEASE Danny,TRY to not ask how much the food is before they've even had a chance to proce it up lad 🤯 😂😂😂
It all looks like great quality and definitely good value for money! The fishcake is amazing, I have never seen one as big as that... I give it a solid 10
That's a massive piece of fish and a reasonable price. Most fish & chips shops he's been to in past have been more expensive and he's only a received a small piece of fish.
I still can't do gravy on fish, tried it the other week and it's not for me. Peas and curry though!! I've used pickled onion vinegar whenever I run out of normal vinegar and forget to replace it. Works just as well and soaks into the chips better in my opinion!
wow, that looks better that the other place that was voted best in UK! They're taking a lot of pride in the shop. I can tell by the flower beds right there in front of the shop and they have a lot of tables set up so it must get busy. Wow, best fish I've seen and the fish cake is interesting. they must cook/boil the potatoes first before the fry but the batter looked super thick. How do they do that?
They're so friendly up north. I have never ever seen fish portions that big. Here in Cornwall, it's about £12 for a tiddly portion. I need to get up north.
