I was out sourcing yesterday with my local Facebook reseller group and on the way home I stopped off at my favorite antique mall to cast iron treasure hunt! Oh boy, did I ever find some. Not sure what they will look like after I strip them, but they sure are different and interesting!
On the video, one of them appeared to have a crack when I was showing off the piece, but upon closer examination after the video and an initial soak in a vinegar bath, the "crack" turned out to be a water streak that turned into rust! The tell tale sign that it doesn't appear to be a crack is that it is NOT on both sides, only on the outside. Truly cracked pieces will have the crack on both sides, no matter how small. I will know for sure once I have made substantial progress on stripping the piece in question. I will show my results on a future video so stay tuned!
