Thanks for the nice comment. It was a wonderful feeling to see her face light up when I found it. It’s a great hobby, and I’m thrilled that I can help people.
Nice hunt Howie, and I think the ring spells MOM with the opal as the O. Thanks for sharing, and I'm always so envious of the beautiful locations you get to hunt. By the way, what headphones do you use in the water?
Oh yeah... "MOM" - I didn't see that (I am a guy after all and really don't know much about jewelry. ;).... Very cool. I love where I hunt too.. this weekend, I'll be heading to the west coast of florida and doing a weekend adventure on some of the best beaches in Florida - I'm bringing my drone, and should be able to capture some great images. Maybe even do a timelaps of sunsets and the night sky. I'm also looking to try to get photos of the comet and night sky (milky way). I've never been there, so it should be exciting. The headphones I use in the water are wired to the Legend and totally waterproof. I have a friend in Australia who recommended "Detect-Ed". They are SUPER loud, and the tones are crisp and clear, even when totally submerged. From their website: Detect-Ed has collaborated with SeaGhost Engineering to create the clearest, most reliable waterproof headphones on the market. They make them for other brand detectors as well. I must say, they really are good. The wires have strain reliefs and I've beat them up a bit when in rough surf... they hold up great. They are $144 USD and they shipped them to me in less than 1 week. Super nice folks. I'm working on getting a discount code from them, but even at the retail price, well worth it in my opinion. www.detect-ed.com/products/onyx-waterproof-headphones-for-nokta-legend
@@howiegrapek Thanks for the info. I'll bet that would make a valuable addition to one of your next water videos, talking about the gear and your experience with them. I hope the skies on the west coast cooperate for your plans, and I'll be watching for those vids.
@@JoyofTreasureHunting Yeah. thanks. Always looking for ideas... In face, I have a collaboration planned with another detectorist for next month, who uses xp and minelab equipment. We'll be talking about settings on the Legend, and differences with the other detectors. it should be a good one.
Thank you! I appreciate it. Many more adventures to come. This coming weekend I'm heading to the west coast of Florida for a few days to explore and treasure hunt. Stay tuned.
Have a question for you. I have had my legend for about a year and hunt the beaches but have never tried in the water. Do the headphones work if the display is submerged? I was under the impression they didn’t and you have to get wired headset. Also what settings do you use underwater? Just beach wet? Thanks
That's a good question. With my wireless headphones, I generally don't submerge the display much deeper than my elbows. In that situation, I always hear signals clearly in the headset and there is no dropouts. I don't go very deep with those for fear that I'll drown my headphones and go-pro. When I go deeper, I plan and use the "water proof" wired headphones, and have the go-pro in its waterproof housing. I've been 10 meters down with no issues. That said - with bluetooth technologies, wireless signals to headphones may have issues if the head unit (transmitter) is submerged deeper, but I don't have any first hand experience in that situation. As for settings, yes, I start with "beach wet" mode, turn sensitivity down to 22, do a ground balance as I walk into the water, and it works well.
Hi Knute - yes you did! I have you and your sister on video. It was an AMAZING day! I'm glad you and Kali got past the fear of wearing your snorkel and mask and got to swim with those amazing animals. Stay tuned for the Manatee video in the next couple of weeks and thanks for watching!!
Well, I’ve returned many items, and always will try to find the rightful owner of lost valuable items. In this case it was easy to know who it was, as he asked me to find it. I’ve returned cell phones, and other valuable items in the past. My thought process is that I ask myself, if I lost it, how would I feel. There is plenty of treasure to be found. My bucket list items include real shipwreck treasure. But Gold and Diamonds certainly help support the hobby. Thanks for watching!
@@FXNorm I don't know. Based on the way the family reacted, and how happy she was, I doubt that it was fake. Someone mentioned that it was a lab grown diamond.. even that, not a CZ.... regardless, If it was a china knockoff, and her husband purchased it for her, I don't care, and she didn't know. Either way, it was a great return. Thanks for watching. It is a really fun hobby.
The Minelab Equinox series of detectors are awesome - you should get some great discoveries with it. it is great exercise and tons of fun. I meet fellow detectorists on the beach quite often, and enjoy talking and detecting with everyone. Yes, I hope to see you out there as well. I frequent Delray Beach quite often - sometimes early in the morning, other times late in the day and into the evening. I also like to explore many other beaches - Thanks Judy for watching. Many more adventures to come.
