As she shares with us in this easy conversation, across the 14 years of her work experience, she's dabbled in public policy, marketing, consulting, and founded 3 companies. Also recently, she's just joined a VC fund.
Sukhmani spent her college years doing time pass and learning Spanish.
Wanting to do something in the development sector, Sukhmani was not sure what path her career would take.
In this conversation, she shares her journey from Cambridge University to working with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
She tells us how she then worked in consulting for sometime, as an analyst at Deloitte.
Having written the GMAT, Sukhmani then went on to INSEAD to pursue a 1-year MBA and work with Philips. Finally, realising her interest did not lie with a drab job, and wanting to get into the business side of things, Sukhmani decided to start-up on her own.
She elaborates the story of her first start-up BetterButter. She tells us how it was founded, the insight behind her company and how they chose to exit and sell the business/ app to found something new.
Next, she shares how she worked on Zopnik, a social networking, marketing platform. Finally, we learn of her third venture, where she faced negative feedback from investors.
Today working with Orion Venture Partners, Sukhmani's easy attitude to life and work is reflected

•We tell ourselves these stories that I can’t give up; I can’t quit.
•When you realize that you are not satisfied with your current job, situation, etc., don’t ignore it. Pay attention and move on.
•How to begin a start-up: Solve a real problem with a product or service.
•Recipe for a successful app: Find a problem and solve it with your offering, promote it online to relevant users and communities, and tie up with brands to monetize your app.
•Your most valuable currency is your time.
