FOR the first 17 years of Sydney's life, she was "raised as a girl" - but during puberty Sydney started to experience symptoms that she now knows were signs that she was actually born intersex. At 15 years old, Sydney went to see the doctor, as she was struggling with "severe cystic acne". Test results showed "heightened levels of androgens, or what are sometimes called male hormones" and Sydney's doctor prescribed hormone treatment "to make [her] 'normal'." The treatment did work on her acne but, just two years later, Sydney was back at the doctors again after discovering that she had no vaginal opening. She remembers how the gynaecologists "didn't really believe [her]" until they looked for themselves - at which point they agreed, with Sydney, to operate and create a vagina for her. While Sydney was happy with the outcome of the surgery, she does "wish that the word 'intersex' had been uttered" - it was only in her "early twenties", as Sydney immersed herself in her local queer community, that she learned her true identity. Since then, Sydney has taken to TikTok and created "a new community for [herself]" where she educates others and raises awareness of what it means to be intersex. Trolls have accused Sydney of being "a liar" - the kind of ignorance that causes her mom, Dana, to "worry about [Sydney's] safety". But in the face of everything, Sydney is defiant: "The best way that I can battle the difficulties that I face is to continue to educate others... Biological sex is not binary and I am living proof of that."

I'm just shy of 65 yrs old. This is all new to me. I'm really glad you decided to share this. How many people like me would never have known this condition existed without someone explaining it. You are a very pretty woman, so no one would know unless you told them. As it turned out, I went to Elementary through High School ( with the exception of 2 years) with a girl who is Intersex. I thought she was slow to physically mature due to hormone issues. Recently, I found out she is Intersex. Thank you for enlightening me and others.

I worked in ObGyn. One day we had a fiancee bring in his 24-year-old bride-to-be. This intelligent and very sweet young lady truly had no idea there was a reason for her to be there. The fiancee was very kind and told her that if there's no problem, then he will gladly apologize and that perhaps he was wrong. Long story made short, she only had one opening for all bodily functions & had been told all her life that it was "normal." She came from a very wealthy and well-known family who thought they could buy the silence and get everyone to play along. It seems they succeeded for almost a quarter of a century. I will never forget the exam or the look on her face when we explained it to her. She left calling us all liars and returned weeks later when she finally realized she had been lied to but not by us. I can also say that she did undergo surgical procedures that were successful. She was wed during the process & her family members were all by her side. She once told me that she didn't understand why they lied, but she still knew they loved her...and they did.

You're saying she had a cloaca like a chicken and bleed, urinated and pooped out of the same opening? You realized that she would be basically dribbling watery poop out of her opening without a sphincter to shut it off? Right? Or that during her period she would have to take out her tampon to 💩? Or all her poop would be covered in blood for a week? Or that if somehow this did happen this would be major reconstructive surgery to stomach, intestines, kidney, bladder, and rectum?

It doesn't sound like she has ever been diagnosed by a medical professional or that there is chromosomal (XY or XXY) or physical features (internal/external testes, microphallus etc) that would actually indicate that she is intersex. Women with PCOS also have higher testosterone and androgens, yet they are not intersex. Not having a vaginal opening develop appropriately can indicate many other things that have nothing to do with being intersex.
@Az_Za.
@Az_Za. 9 месяцев назад
I am kinda confused, because there is only information that she had no opening. She looks biologically female, and nowhere is mentioned what chromosomes she has. Does she have anything from the male anatomy or just higher hormones, which are also present in women with PCOS? There are cases where women are born with closed hymens, or differently shaped ones. That does not indicate intersex. No disrespect here, I am just genuinely confused.

According to NCBI National Public Library: If the term intersex is to retain any meaning, the term should be restricted to those conditions in which chromosomal sex is inconsistent with phenotypic sex, or in which the phenotype is not classifiable as either male or female. Applying this more precise definition, the true prevalence of intersex is seen to be about 0.018%, almost 100 times lower than Fausto-Sterling s estimate of 1.7%. Intersex and transgender are NOT the same. Intersex is a true medical condition that has been ignored and hidden for a very long time.

Intersex is as common as red hair.Demanding we are only a two gender species means you are the person who refuses to see red hair as a hair color. We don’t only have blond brown or black hair. We also have redheads. We don’t only have male and female, we also have intersex. We are just mostly a two gender species. Someone said they are born with only one arm so that proves we’re not a two arm species. And I say, that just means we are mostly a two arm species, but that we are not just a two arm species. That also means that those people don’t have the rules of being a male or a female. They have the rules of being intersex person. Just like a one armed person doesn’t need an extra sleeve. They can wear clothes without it.

Being intersex is not a one size fits all, there are many variations so people asking if it's this or that aren't getting the true picture. It reminds me of skin colors, there's really white to jet black and not a one color per. I'm impressed with her confidence and brilliant essence! Don't worry Mom there are many more positive, compassionate and protective people out here than "haters"! We just need to step up if necessary.

Thank you for sharing your story. ❤ I am just curious to know, once you found out of your condition, why not receive treatment to help you become more of what you were born to be if it weren't for this condition. I believe our body parts and physique give us a pretty good indication of wether we were born to be male, or female. My other question would be....is not easier and less invasive to enhance what is more dominat in your body? I feel like people sometimes take the most invasive extreme and make a selection based on just desire, rather then what might be easier and healthier for them in the long run. I heard many cases of people being very heavily medicated and even get genitals removed which they then have to live their life on very strong medications that cause other health issues and possible infections due to the surgery. Perhaps I'm asking not understanding it well, would appreciate any clarifications. Thanks!

Chromosomal defects do not always create a person to be both sexes ie: A girl with testicular features for example. So a girl with an undeveloped X chromosome for example would be called Turner Syndrome or Mosaic Turners and be otherwise born a short female with heart and uterus problems. She may even have semi normal periods … so the girl may not even know she had a chromosome issue until she had a heart issue or pregnancy problems for example. So . I hope that example made it make more sense. Not every intersex is fully both … Like not every intersex female has a Y chromosome … or any male genitalia for that matter … It just means there was a defect in the make up of creation in the womb in regards to xx or xy chromosome’s …

Your honesty is both refreshing and commendable. It is candour like yours that disperses ignorance and allows people to learn and end prejudice. I admire you. The only people who do not see you for the wonderful person you are are stupid. Unfortunately stupid people can also be dangerous. I hope this is not in anyway offensive and i am not drawing an analogy but offer this to show you some circumstances are just another facet of our wonderful natural world. I imported a pedigree dog to improve our lines; she was an extremely well bred show dog and very beautiful. After a lengthy and expensive process of trying to get her pregnant without success and no apparent reason we gave up and had her desexed. I guess in a human this is close to a hysterectomy. Pathology on the tissue removed showed her ovaries were full of testicular cells. She had no hope of ever having a normal reproductive experience. My point, (thank you for reading) I guess my little girl is 'intersex' she has a natural deviation on typical sexual makeup. Although her DNA did test as female she had some male traits. These things happen and i am told it is not rare. It is part of natural diversity and we love her just the same as our other beautiful pets.

The only thing i think is wrong with this docU is when she uses finger quotes when she talks about acne. The doctors weren't trying to make you look "normal," you sought out an remedy for your acne. Never theless theres a great self documentary of an intersex women from Australian from the 90s that sheds so much light on this type of thing. She has a husband and adopted a child. The twist in the story was that her sister was also intersex. There's a person for everyone and imo i have no issues with intersex people nor do i car what a person has or doesnt have in their pants. If i lole you i like you, thats it.

she says she doesn’t want intersex to be looked at as an anomaly, but that’s literally what it is. it’s a medical condition. also, unless her chromosomes are different or she has internal testies or something, she could be a female with a completely different condition. seems like she learned what intersex was and just glued herself to it without seeking the advise of a medical professional.

Oh no honey, you just have a medical anomaly, like a kid that is born deft, It doesn't mean that humans can't hear, that we only have 4 senses, there are just "errors" or anomalys in everything, the exception to the rule. And by definitions Intersex needs to remain separate from genser identity, those are 2 really different things, not identifying with the sex you were born with and having some parts of both sexes. One relates to mental health and the other one to anatomy.

I'm in my 60's now, was raised with the binary belief. I knew none of this, hadn't ever heard of it. Human beings are like all other life on Earth, though. Some living things are just formed, statistically, in the tails of the bell curve. They're outliers. All kinds of plants and animals can get unusual deformations, that aren't considered to be "normal, " whatever that is. It's just nature, "making mistakes" or whatever. These deformations can also include sexual deformities, too, and not just in humans. Us old folks can learn new things, too 😊

Androgyne, or "intersex" are from the original bloodline. It is not a disorder... Adam and Eve were the first humans created by genetic modification to be single sex organisms. They were not the first "people". The first were Androgyne. Hermaphrodites, with dual sex organs and the ability to reproduce asexually. Man was created in Genesis chapter one and Adam wasn't created until genesis chapter two. When they left the garden they met up with other people. The story was an encoded message about the genetic split to create separate man and woman. That is what the majority of people are today. The Overlords/Elite are of this original species. Many suspect they are surgery modified "trans", and there are some that exist. But most are in reality Androgyne/Hermaphrodie/Intersex. There are many varieties of the genitalia, some may have more male or female traits while others are balanced. Some are self-replicating. Many people found today to have both organs are said to be "rare", I suspect they are more "organic" and the majority are the genetically modified versions... These Androgyne are found in the highest places of power and and this is one of the reasons why the "bloodline" is so sacred.
@BrettHoustonTube
@BrettHoustonTube 4 месяца назад
Additionally, Atrazine is a component to that... It causes one to grow dual genitalia and causes "sexual confusion"... And they spray it on the food... And the people eat it. It also causes Alzheimer's and other neuro degenerative conditions. But that's another story.

@wrghty
@wrghty 3 месяца назад
Transgender is when someone is assigned a gender at birth, but their mind doesn't align up with that body. So they're born a boy for example but their mind says they're a girl, it's called gender identity disorder. Intersex you don't really fit either. For example they could have both genitals, reproductive organs and then both chromosomes. It doesn't fit in with either male or female binary
@dalestaley5637
@dalestaley5637 3 месяца назад
Transgender is knowing your birth gender is not who are inside your head and heart. You identify with the opposite gender. Intersex is being born with genetic differences that will result in incomplete formation of sex organs. Lack of a uterus, vagina, undecended testes, while developing breasts. It can be a variation of having some penile tissue with the presence or absence of other sex organs. They were once called hermaphrodites. There's multiple genetic reasons for an intersex human. They will also feel they are more female or male and want their to live their lives that way. This has always existed within humanity, it wasn't talked about.

Think I may be INTERSEX, let me say, I HATE SEX . Almost 70, now . Gone through 3 wives in my life, left only cause, could not take having sex with them. I get, this is not what you would call INTERSEX. I was told I was a man all my life. Many women late, I know, I hate sex of any kind. I only used sex as a form of hate. I am a fully formed man, that had to prove I was man. Early in my childhood, I was raped by my older brother then told many times by my mother, " I wish you were never born", causing emotional detachment for the rest of my life. I know now, I was born different. Just enough XY making me not male plus xx and yy to give me troubles to not know how my should go. Please send help my way. PLEASE
