I wouldn't compare *this* to Starlight River, but I will say this is giving me some major nostalgia vibes. Reminds me of very old 1.3 mods with a new coat of paint. It's still a mess in many ways from graphics and design, but it's a fun kind of mess!
Perhaps. Starlight river had lots of issues when it's alpha released as well, but to be fair I played it right when the alpha came out so it was bound to happen.
Man, i am so glad i knew about this mod before you covered it, because that beautiful place at the right of spawn breaks world gen since it's a literally copy pasted pre-built creation, so it'll replace everything that it is set to spawn upon in world gen. I would be so much more disappointed in this mod if i had gone to it with the expectations i would've had from this video, but i'm glad to see someone got to enjoy what i couldn't.
I mean, I'm not sure what it could break as the surface doesn't really have anything that important, but yeah, there are definitely some world gen issues
@@Throarbin so at one point it spawned.... below the surface, it was entirely below two living wood trees, which were mostly destroyed in the world gen, it also completely fucked a modded biome in the process, had to scratch that world completely. It was a multiplayer world too, so it was really sad.
@@Throarbin Different mod's biome, i hope the mod gets this particular issue fixed, because then i'd absolutely use it without a second thought, it was very fun while i was willing to deal with the world gen issue.
Thanks for talking about my mod lol I’ve been working hard on it and it’ll be heavily improved with the next update in a little while, be on the lookout! Thank you though 🫶 Edit a lot of your stuff has been considered and 2 big updates have been pushed since this video!
@@ThroarbinIm the owner and pretty much the main mod creator lol, most the issues you talked about I’ve already gotten to but thank you very much for the criticism :p
10:46 It was actually a granite elemental that killed you, not queen bee. Queen bee was close to getting you, but it didn't arrive in time because you were on low health. Because of this, the granite elemental got you instead. Ironically the granite elemental died straight after dealing the finishing blow to your Terraria character, as if the game were trying to mock you. I have no idea how it did that and it would be great if you told me how. There were also a swarm of bats that would have killed you, but your immunity frames were activated. After, the bats flew past you and were about to swing around and get you, but the granite elemental coming from below reached you first. I have no idea why you would ever think it were queen bee that killed you, it is obviously the granite elemental that killed you. It even showed the death message in the Terraria chat, but you didn't notice it [you might have, but thought it unnecessary to get technical and put the true facts in the video (you should have)]. You dealt 6 damage to queen bee before you died, proving that you have "skill issue". The final blow you took before exploding into giblets was by the granite elemental, dealing 32 points of damage. Judging by the 15 second respawn timer, it is either on expert or master mode; though there is a possibility that it is for the worthy but isn't likely. You could have saved 6 gold, 12 silver and 3 copper if you had just recalled back and put it in a piggy bank or something (the reason I use "a" instead of "the" in this sentence is because you don't actually have a piggy bank at your spawn). Though if you did recall back, queen bee would get you anyway because queen bee would not de-spawn. I noted that you tried to recall back, but you timed it just a little bit too late, resulting in your death. Your recall went through a full 4 frames before dying to the granite elemental. I am pretty sure if you just timed it one frame earlier, you would have been able to escape to spawn (not really escape). Please tell me if I got any details wrong and I probably won't fix them because I don’t care and I wrote this at 3am I need to go sleep goog night.
Looks like a fun mod that has a lot of effort put into it, however it definitely suffers from not having a lot of balance/design thought put into it. Having end-game weapons functionalities on low-damage weapons doesn't suddenly make them level progression appropriate, the ease of use is way more important than the damage the weapons deal throughout most of pre-hardmode. A lot of the texture work in the new structures blends, making it really hard to see where you're going and whether things are part of the foreground. Really, most of the balancing of the enemies seems to be pretty off from enemies spawning too much and being too strong, to bosses being the opposite. I think once this mod is in its polishing phase, it'll be something special. Right now it feels like the creators are in the phase where they're throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.
Yeah, it could definitely use some more balancing, but I wasn't phase by it as it's something I just expect from large content mods. Calamity for instance has weapons that can be found pre boss and yet easily carrying you through pre hardmode so it never became a sticking point for me.
idk, I hear a bunch of people talk about mod of redemption but I've never heard anyone mention Lunar Veil. But I do plan on checking out mod of redemption at some point
Actually...i'm using it right now. As a new player, I was sold on the idea it focuses on pre-hard mode content so I went with it. It's a bit overwelming with all the aggresive spawn rate and the wonky world generation...but I still love it for what it is.
Yeah, definitely has some spawn rates and there are so many things it is a bit overwhelming. It's something you could easily play several times and keep discovering things
Thank you for introducing me to the song right at the start of the video, it’s awesome and I wouldn’t have ever found it without you putting it in there!
i found Lunar Veil today and started to play through it, apparantly it just got an update, though 3 bosses that i've found are broken now, them being: Sun Stalker, Dread Mire and Jack, all of them despawn as soon as you spawn them, so i din't get to fight them, but i got through mostly everything modded in PH. i'm currently in an odd position in the run, that i just killed the Early Hardmode boss with Pre-eater of worlds gear, because i some how despawned the large bird head that charges around, and got a cracked weapon now, so "yay me, i guess", still enjoying the mod so far, and still have 4 more (2 PH and 2 HM) bosses to go in the mod. the new update at least gave unique mechanics to EoC and BoC to bring up there general difficulty to the standards of to medded bosses, which is nice to be sure, since i feel like usually modded content tends to overshadow vanilla, or just feels mediocer because it has been squized in to the vanilla progresson and difficulty curve. you should check the mod out again, though you might want to wait for them to fix the bosses that are broken.
Had a horrible time with this mod when I picked it up. Too many materials made crafting a maze, and the dash never functioned for me even though it was clearly intended for the fights.
Really? Interesting. I suppose I did have magic storage which made crafting much simpler and I never found myself lacking anything. And yeah, the invincibility dash clearly needs some work
Yeah, for modded I've been using Journey mode to make crafting much easier, so I'm sort of surprised to see long crafting trees being an issue for some people. I think the long crafting trees are cool, but I guess I can understand how it might be a bigger issue without tools like magic storage or Journey Mode.
@@Xeamless Well in Vanilla Terraria we have: Zenith, Hand of Creation, Ankh Shield, Terra Spark Boots, Arctic diving gear, Shellphone, Fire Gauntlet, etc... And for modded Calamity and Fargo's Soul mod have some extremely long ones
I'm currently playing through and I found Bridget (which is now my fav weapon due to it chatting a ton) and I am scared to do either of the paths on the hard mode recipes because the wiki is so under developed and the Bridget II weapon has a description that makes me hesitate going that route.
I found a bug and its so funny. Basically you use the lightning summoner orbs and use pot of greed to infinitely dupe summons. theb use any other summon like a mechanical eye and you have this glowing ball that instantly kills any enemy
I think this mod would benefit greatly from making a lot of it's weapons and bosses hardmode content and using subworld library instead of cluttering the map with temples and biomes
the sheer amount of paid DLC equivalent mods are just a testimony toward terraria being an immortal game. if relic ever was gone release a terraria 2 I would think it would be an engine improvement (sort of like ark survival evolved becoming ark survival ascended. with less drama of course.)
dread mire R had NO REASON to be THAT difficult pre-skeleton bro, legitimately, it is harder than the wall of flesh like wth, how can a rng based attack to deal 259 BASE damage LIKE BROO
This mod looks good but there are some stuff that needs to be polished. For example, one of the new structures happened to override the lower half a desert pyramid and even displaced a part of the structure to the top middle of the desert. The original structure generated out of the desert to the right.
Yeah, Calamity has been done a lot, though it is a real popular mod. I'm still doing plenty of it but I like checking out these smaller mods and hopefully giving them more exposure :)
Lots that fills the inventory, yes, but they give you so many return potions that it was never a problem, I just used one, deposited the stuff, and returned to where I was. And balancing could use work but I don't think I've found a simple large content mod that wasn't filled with balancing issues. Calamity still has a bunch of them.
@@Throarbin yes i totaly agree, mods in general can be amazing but it ruins the balancing of the game big time. I used to play alot of moded terraria. I have played about 250 hours of moded terraria , but a couple years ago i switched to vanilla only because a lot of people overlook how much content there is in vanilla. Now I got about 2000 hours in terraria vanilla cross steam and Xbox
Played calamity and Thorium but this mod smacks them out the water imo calamity is basically a boss mod without sense of exploration/discovery it's just kill this kill that which isn't difficult just a boring concept. If you want difficulty try osrs inferno that's what you call good difficulty. Thorium is good but idk not really a fan Luna Veil feels like a full blown DLC tbh so much to discover & explore along with amazing boss fights
Oh yeah, wasn't that added recently or something? Kinda hard to do something that's a Calamity add-on though as I'd need to get through the whole mod. Unless I just wanted to showcase a bunch of smaller things which I guess I could do
Hmmm, this mod breaks vanilla balance and progression very hard. It has some interesting ideas, but it goes too hard into its own thing, barely resembling Terraria. I'm sure it will have its audience, but I'm not one of them. Still, it's evident a lot of work has gone into this, and I celebrate it all the same.
I'm actually trying to remember what the ruin medals are 😅 Sounds like something that was used either to summon a boss or unlock a door if I remember right
Just started the mod with a friend, we've yet to beat the Brain because it shoots tons of flame jets that deal way too much damage and are almost impossible to dodge (not sure it's from this mod, but i think it is as the only other major mod i have is Stars Above). Anyway, an NPC arrived that sells you potions and a few useful accessories in exchange for those Ruin Medals! Sadly the mod is a bit broken in multiplayer, so some things (like the Forgotten Puppet Boss, that immediately despawns with 2+ player) require me to switch to singleplayer for a bit :/
@@smolangelo9969 Yeah, I think it mentioned there being problems for multiplayer. The mod creator actually reached out and shared that there was a large update recently [like a few days ago] so there's probably plenty in it now that I don't know about
I was trying this mod out for a while as part of a mod pack, but it just didn't jive with me and my friend. It's poorly balanced if it's intended to be balanced along the lines of vanilla, and the items from it overshadow items from vanilla and other mods like Thorium, Spirit and Starlight River. Not to say it's bad, there's clearly a lot of effort and the sprite art is great, but it's not polished enough for a modded playthrough using a bunch of other large content mods. Also all the cutesy girl NPCs with cringe dialogue make it hard to like as far as the tone of the mod goes unless you're a neckbeard.
Yeah, it did look like they added a lot more of the waifu stuff in the update after I had played. And it definitely is not balanced for other mods or vanilla. Kind of it's own thing.
@@100organicfreshmemes5 I guess so, because that's the main complaint I've heard about the mod, poor balancing. And it's got some of the worst balancing I've encountered. Even so, I enjoyed it.
@@Throarbin Just because you didn't catch any bugs. Doesn't mean there aren't any. It also doesn't mean that you won't encounter them if you keep playing. Any mod with certain combinations of other mods can be broken and you may realize that your playthrough of the game is destroyed after a hundred hours simply because you just got to the thing that simply can not be in the game because it can not be generated in the world. Lunar Veil does not require any other mods to screw up your playthrough. Considering that it can basically crash the game just if you choose a large world.
@@ifyouwanna8428 Well of course there are bugs you can run into even if I didn't. I'm just saying that I didn't run into any bugs. And when you combine a bunch of mods together you're always taking a risk that one or the other is not really compatible with the other. Not to mention it would be hard for me to cover bugs when I didn't run into any. I also played the mod on a large world. idk if you played an older, less stable version, or if I just got lucky 🤷♂
@@Throarbin More looks like you got lucky. I still have critical crash fromt time to time if i enable Lunar Vail (and only thismod) and start generate large world. (I did complete fresh reinstal of terraria and tmodloader yestarday and this bug still exists)
