I don't think a lot of people realize how good we have it right now with so many new quality guitars available, both acoustic and electric. I also love how the brands are offering Original Spec/historic pieces with finish options and that sound great right out of the box. Torrification amazes me. Even so, I feel like the current generation of music is not so guitar driven compared to previous decades which saddens me a bit.

The fact that they are that good on the floor means that the company is doing better work than ever. There are many who will buy a $5k guitar and never appreciate it, but there are those of us who will feel and hear the difference. There will always be an appreciation for handmade quality from real musicians who care about the craft. We are so blessed to be on the receiving side of hundreds of years of tedious perfected labor.

“I’m the caretaker while I’m alive.” These are almost exactly what my best friend expressed about his ‘76 D-35. He passed away in April and now I’m the caretaker of the Martin D-35. Someday I’ll pass it on to the next caretaker, but in the meanwhile I’ll play it daily and give it all the love it needs. Really enjoy watching your Martin journeys.

I’m so glad I saw this, loved the Casino tour. Also, I played on one of those aged Martin aged 37s in TX and thought it was the best Martin I’ve played as well…. At least I don’t feel like I’m going crazy anymore.

I have a 1934 0-17 and eight old 0-18's and a 1931 0-21. I bought them a while ago when everyone just wanted big guitars. Lucky for me at that time.

I agree with you completely. Taylor is a good company and makes Great guitars but I like the tone of Martins. I hope Martin doesn't cheapen the quality.

That 000-28 at 10:00 (a little harvest moon) and at the end? Man! That sounded amazing! I have a 94 HD28, which I love, but the top cracked some years ago. Got it fixed, but I'd still like to have a new Martin someday. I'm 74, so WTF, right? That one would suit me fine! $4K? (-:

I bought my first Martin about a month ago. It's a 000-15M. I love it. It's the best sounding, easiest playing guitar that I have ever owned. I hope someday to own a 000-28 or an OM. Martin guitars are amazing!

Hey Don, I have a 2001 000-15M and I also own a 2019 OM-28. For what it's worth, I prefer playing the 000-15M. For my style, it's easier to play and sounds great, being Mahogany. I love the OM-28 but I'm always concerned with scratching it cause it's still perfect. The 000-15M is my go-to for sure. Hope you love it for a long time.

Yeap, caretaker here too! ‘51 Gibson J50, ‘57 O18, ‘72 Fender F35 mahogany, sounds surprisingly gr8, these were all inherited and cherished. I bought myself a Xmas gift in ‘14, an HD28V and it keeps gettin better with age. There are gonna be some happy campers when I move on. That OOO28 sounded awesome. 👍

I've recently acquired one. I was looking to buy a martin for my birthday and intended to buy a road series model. I played lots and ended up with a pre owned x series. It sounded and felt better to me. I'm very happy with it. It also feels very robust, like it could take a knock or a spillage no problem. I'd feel anxious with a guitar that cost more than my car, in case I dropped it, or scratched it. With this one I don't worry. Did I say it sounds great?

This is a small point but torrefaction is not a synthetic process. It's not even an artificial process. When you cook your steak it doesn't become synthetic steak or artificial steak it just is cooked steak. Torrefied wood could be considered cooked wood, though like you said it's heated in a low oxygen environment (not necessarily a vacuum) so that it won't burn. Sort of like sous vide compared to cooked. There is no additive of another component, or combination of material to be "like" wood , as in a synthesized chemical, or synthetic rubber, and synthetic leather. Just didn't want people getting the wrong idea from hearing "sythetic" and thinking that this was something other than a carefully selected piece of wood. Torrefaction is a great process but you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. A really good top can be made even better with torrefaction. A poor piece of top wood will not become a good top if you torrify it. Not that any of the tops from Martin are poor. I totally agree the recent production from Martin is great. The general level and the consistency is much better than the 70' and 80's.

I got to see part of this live but had to get on the road. I love Martins and these look and sound wonderful. I wish I had the money to add more to the 00 and 000 Martins I have. I’ve owned a number of them and they always feel and play so good. Maybe not out of the box but with a proper setup they are amazing. Nothing against Gibson or Taylor ( I own or have owned both) but Martins are just to my liking. Thank you again.

I'm loving the guitars in that shop. I have a 1998 Martin HD35, bought new, that I will never part with. It has aged beautifully (except for a small problem with the finish that I need to speak to Martin about. We'll see how good there lifetime warranty is!). I've looked at a number of Taylors, and though they are fine guitars, I just can't get too excited about them in general. It's a very subjective and personal thing. I did play one that I really liked (8-or 900 series?) and I would have bought on the spot if money was no object - but it is...

Just got my fourth Martin. An HD28 Ambertone. Just a standard as that is all I can do but hats off to the interest free payments. The only way I could swing it. It is the best sounding and easiest to play off the four. Martin is making the best guitars now. I have two D18's, a 64 and 04. A 095 000-18, and now my hd28. Considering getting a n authentic but I would have to sell one or two. We will see.

They arent just made to look like an old martin. These are martins that are as close and not just a gimmick to the real thing. They studied the molecular chemistry of the wood to make these. N their science stands for itself

I love your videos. May I suggest you invest in a gimbal? Sometimes the shake is too much. DJI makes a great one, and it's cheap. May not work if you are using a GoPro, but great if you are using an iPhone/Android.

My last name is Martin, I’m adopted so not even close just a disclosure because what I’m about to say could come under scrutiny. Many fine guitars out there, but IMO, Martín is the best! I have two a 2013 GCPA4R and a 00015SM that I bought for $1700! To me I love them both but, my SM is worth 10k it is that good. BTW Martín QC is top notch, just like the man said. What a cool shop.

I cannot emphasize enough how much you need to try or buy a pre war guitar company instrument. Still expensive but less than a 1937 martin vts. Also has a truss rod. I own one.

Yep, me too. Check my page for some sound clips. Love the authentic‘s, and have owned a bunch of them, now I’m with PW hundred percent.

They're great, but I'd still take the Martin. Jmo. The trebles on Pre war, idk. Something weird there for me. Great guitars though. I just think the Martin Authentics take the cake. No one does Martin better than Martin. Both amazing tho. I've played both, just so you know I'm not talking out my ass. Although I'd go NON VTS on Martin. I'm not a VTS fan. Prewar, no choice

I bought a Martin for more than $2500 some time ago and straight out of the box it had issues with the tuners but also the finish. I returned it and haven’t bought a Martin again since. I’m sure they are great, but it was definitely a turn off for me considering they are pricey guitars.
