Same here. Some employee of a company I know starts swearing at me/being rude, I would not only hang up, I'd complain to the company.

I’ve worked helpdesk. I’ll admit that I’ve felt like doing this. But seriously the amount of Karen’s I’ve dealt with, how do scammers get away with it? I’ve been screeched at for asking someone to open the internet to make sure their internet is working.

This is actually part of their plan. That behavior chases away anyone with any common sense who would waste their time. If the person continues to think they are bank, Microsoft, or government employees when they swear and abuse them, then they know theyve found someone with some mental issues that they can work with.

Those are the bank accounts of other active victims. Once they send the money to that account they call the victim saying the transfer was a mistake and have them send gift cards

This scammer is so unfathomably bad at his job, that it almost seems like he's doing it on purpose, or like he's at that job reluctantly. Obviously Kit played along because that's the premise of the channel, and he's also trying to shut down their operations, but I can't imagine anyone, even the most tech illiterate person around, would fall for something that's this transparently a scam.

Yup. A scammer ruined my relationship with my senile grandmother. They pretended to be me asking for bail money to get out of jail. Long story short the bank teller stopped her from sending the money but she now believes anyone who claims to be her grandson is trying to scam her so I can't spend quality time with her anymore.

You'd be amazed how much money these scammers make. It's roughly 8-10 billion dollars per year. It pays thousands of times more than the average salary. It's no wonder so many do it. Although leaving all your morals aside and becoming evil isn't something I could do. The American government and to a larger extent the Indian government has done nothing to stop this and prosecute these scammers. Not until someone in government is directly affected, will anything be done.

I think it was on Jim Browning's channel who accesses their spreadsheet accounting files, and those figures are that call centers steal anywhere from $50,000-$350,000 per month depending on the size of the operation. That's still appalling in itself, though. Even then, the "company managers" are the ones who take the vast majority of that money and become millionaires, and the "representatives" we hear over the phone are often barely given enough to live on when they first start out, all the while getting themselves into what is essentially a mob operation.

They will earn a really low wage scamming but legitimate customer service is probably even worse. The last few decades the rich have taken all growth for themselves as all jobs are driven into poverty wages and they wonder why people don't want to work now

No, because as far as I can tell, all he has to do is send an email to the right companies, and hopefully they'll do something about it. Usually banks have a dedicated email for this stuff.

I don’t think any of this leads to criminal prosecution. It’s just shutting down bank accounts, banks are free to do that without even proof of a crime if they like.

All the scammers are in other countries so there's never a criminal case against an actual person. Banks don't need a criminal case to investigate and take action against customer accounts.
