Congratulations on your weight loss journey! I lost 35 lbs, though it took me 2.5 years. The weight came off quickly at first, then slowed to a crawl, so don’t get discouraged. It will eventually come off. I have to say that my snacks are never as elaborate as yours. Mine consist of a sliced apple, sometimes with a small amount of Brie cheese. I’ll also have strawberries and substitute whipped cream by whipping up a small amount of nonfat milk with a frother, then adding a packet of Splenda. Of course you can use the sweetener of your choice. I’ve also been drinking a protein shake as a meal substitute for lunch. For me, small portions are key and I try to stay away from sweets and snacks. Bread is also something I love but need to be mindful of portions. Good luck! ❤

Ah yes ! Ive hear that the first few weeks are generally easier 😂 I’ll have to keep that in mind if I stay the same in the coming weigh ins…. I was thinking that 30 pounds in 9 weeks was too good to be true hahaha

I agree with all the comments. Don’t let the number on the scale dictate your mind. I was really fit a few years ago, I worked out 5-6days a week for two hours. The number on the scale barely moved after 2yrs and I gave up because I was always counting calories workin out more to make that number move and it didn’t. I now realise my entire body shape had changed and I was toned opposed to skinny fat. So don’t let the number tell you take photos in your favourite outfits etc.

When I was your age, I gained 50lbs and lost it on Weight Watchers when you had to weigh and measure everything. You learn about eyeballing proportions. I congratulate you on your openness about your journey. I know you can do it, Arielle. Keep up the basketball. What about that Caitlin Clark?

Loved this video! Huge congrats on your weight loss!! I've also been on a weight loss journey since last July and have lost 11Kg. The first 6 Kg came off quickly, but the last 5Kg have been really tricky to lose. I'm 39 and now weigh the same as I when I was 19, which makes me so happy! The important thing is to not lose motivation when weeks go by without losing any weight and keep things interesting by trying new recipes. Tonight I'm going to try out a new recipe. I keep salmon cubes marinating for a few hours in honey, olive oil, garlic and salt, then I pass them by grated parmesan cheese and tapioca, bake it in the oven and have it with a tomato salad. Also there's a divine healthy cheesecake recipe I found and it's one of the best things I've ever had. I love having it for breakfast! 😋 For me that's the secret, cooking meals you're excited about, so it doesn't feel like a dull diet.

WOW congratulations ! That is so amazing ! It’s good to hear your experience of the first 6kg versus the last 5… I think it would discourage me for sure but everything I’m doing I hope to keep up for the long term… the salmon cubes sound SO GOOD I will definitely try ! (Although I’ve been eating less fish in general because it’s gotten so pricy 🥲) I will also hunt down this healthy cheese cake recipe haha

What worked for me was setting a limit for sweets--2 sevings a week--and making th rest of my meals and snacks balanced with protein, fiber, and healthy fat. In 2 months I had lost 12 lbs and that was over Thanksgiving and Christmas. I tried so many times at 1200 calories a day and no sweets, but I always caved after a few weeks, which now seems so obvious. I'm 2 years in and went from borderline obese to a "normal" bmi and these healthier habits have stuck.

I was riding the struggle bus on my weight loss journey until my job changed......I knew stress was a major problem for me, but I didn't know to what extent until that point. Thankfully, now I seem to be steadily dropping pounds instead of the roller coaster of up and down to no avail.

Great video. I have found “My Fitness Pal” to be very helpful when trying to lose weight. It’s easy to trick your brain into thinking you aren’t eating that much if you don’t keep a careful count of your calorie intake.

Having a smaller window for food consumption during the day can make a difference to weight loss. It doesn't need to be a strict 8 hour window. Try not eating after 7 or 8pm - if that's practical. Congrats on your achievement this far.🏆

This is definitely something that works for me. I don't eat until around noon (except for coffee), and finish dinner by around 7:00. I might have some fruit or a yogurt a bit later, like 8:30, but not always. It makes it a lot easier for me to control my overall intake for the day.

@@Ariellelaparisienne One more thing I forgot to add....wait until you start planning your wedding! ;) When I told the organizer at our wedding venue (in France) that I wanted to have dinner at around 6:00, she looked at me like I had two heads. Anyone else really concerned that MFP told her 1200 calories was a good idea? Unless you're 4'9", there's literally no need to be on such a steep calorie deficit. Please consider using a different online calorie calculator - any other calc will almost definitely tell you to eat more and still lose fat. You will struggle on 1200, believe me, I've made that mistake myself. x
@Ariellelaparisienne
@Ariellelaparisienne 5 месяцев назад
I thought it wasn’t a lot either when I first saw it but it’s actually way more than enough…. I work out on a daily basis so realistically, I eat more like 2000 a day because MFP adds the calories burned from exercise that I log…. Also as soon as i cut out refined sugars and simple carbs I found I could eat more because the less filling high calorie junk food wasn’t “taking up calories” if that makes sense. I’m also watching my weight… i want to loose about 1% of my weight a week which is 1.7-2 pounds, so if I see I’m loosing more than that, i try to course correct and eat more haha So far so good thank you for the comment though :)
@BethVonBlack
@BethVonBlack 5 месяцев назад
@@Ariellelaparisienne Ah, so you're not on 1200 calories then, that makes more sense. I guess if your ultimate goal is 'weight loss' and seeing the scale go down, then yeah, going low calorie and doing lots of cardio will do the trick, but are you paying attention to your levels of muscle mass as well as fat? I don't mean to be harsh, but losing 'weight' doesn't mean you're healthy, because unless you're resistance training and eating enough protein (at least maintaining muscle mass) then essentially, you're losing muscle and fat - which is the opposite of healthy. Ideally you want to be losing fat and protecting your muscle so the best way to do that would be to introduce more protein and a couple of sessions of strength training a week while on a deficit. Also, maple syrup is sugar ;) x

Go Arielle! I've made some lifestyle shifts myself in the last 6 months or so and am very slowly chipping away at it (going about the speed of 2-3 lbs a month) bc that's the speed at which I put it on 🤣 Those pandemic pounds, ugh! As you say, it doesnt require flipping your world on its head or crash dieting to get results! And if I want to relax a bit and take it easier, I switch to focus on "maintaining" for awhile to take a break. How noisy is the walking pad? And what is that neat box with a lid that you kept your bread in?

YES honestly same i look at pictures pre-confinement and i am so small by comparison 🥲 walking bad is not noisy on lower levels ! At about 4.5 / 5km an hour it’s a bit louder but i still walk and watch TV with jean in the evenings so it can’t be that loud 😂😂

This is nuts to me. Doesnt matter how active I am, or how healthy I eat... I cannot lose a pound to save my life. I've been 20lbs overweight for 15 years. Way to go! One can really see that lifestyle changes, mostly food intake, since you were physically active before, can make a huge difference! I like your scale and the app you're using! I'm almost 75 and have never really been considered 'overweight.' One of the reasons is that I weigh myself on the 1st of every month and record it on a piece of paper that hangs in my closet, near my scales. If I start to gain, I'm sure to cut back on any snacking and quantity, and then weigh once a week (but don't record it) to keep myself in check. I've been doing this for probably 10 years, or more. Also, Protein is a huge factor in weight management, as you have just demonstrated. I try to get at least 25 grams, 3 times a day, and never eat a large quantity of anything. I am very uncomfortable when I over-eat. Just a note: don't be disappointed if the amount you lose each week does not stay at the 2-3 pound level. I'm not certain how to explain it, but your body has just lost a lot of extra weight and will soon think that it needs to 'protect' itself from 'starving', or something like that. You will lose the weight, once eating healthy becomes a natural thing and you don't have to think about it too much. Don't' become too obsessed with it and stay healthy, both mentally and physically!
@Ariellelaparisienne
@Ariellelaparisienne 5 месяцев назад
Oh totally hear you on the over eating ! It makes me feel terrible…. Because I’m a volume eater I find that eating huge quantities of veggies have helped because I don’t feel bloated the same way I do if o was eating volumes of pasta or bread…. I like the idea of weighing once a month once I get down to my weight goal, that will definitely help me not gain 30 pounds again 😂

Thanks for being so open and honest in this video! I think it helps when we're all in it together. I gained a ton of weight (like 50 pounds) over the pandemic and it's still on its way down. I'm still probably 20-25 pounds over where I was in 2019. I'm working on it in a "lifestyle" way as opposed to a diet. But for what it's worth, you still looked great, even at 177. Obviously I know you're doing this for yourself, but you have nothing to be ashamed or self-conscious about. EDIT: ooh, shout-out to the tourteau fromager at 4:54! That's from our region 😍(Niort).
@Rachel-rs7jn
@Rachel-rs7jn 5 месяцев назад
Just got to the part where you ask for recipes. I don't have a specific recipe written down for this, but one of my favorites is a garlic-ginger Asian soup. Basically you chop up a ton of garlic and ginger, sauté it with some chicken breast, add water, bouillon, and soy sauce and then serve it over spinach and rice noodles. If you want a little extra zing you can add some spicy oil drizzled over the top (like a teaspoon's worth - it won't add much to the calorie count). I make my own by microwaving regular oil with red pepper flakes. Overall it has a super rich flavor and is very satisfying and filling, but not actually a lot of calories (the only calories come from the chicken and rice noodles, and you don't really need a lot of noodles).

A good friend of mine once said, when we were reminiscing about our high school bodies, "In 10 years we'll be reminiscing about the bodies we have now." Really helped put things in perspective for me, to appreciate what I have! 100% with you on the sustainability factor and so glad you liked the recipe! Hope you enjoy it! 😊
