Last year, Newport Vessels generously provided me with a Newport NT300 electric outboard motor. I produced several videos about this 3 hp equivalent electric outboard motor and used it last year for other boating related projects and boat trips.
Now I am giving the 3 hp Newport NT300 electric outboard to another RU-vidr (DIY Waterworld) so that he can use this motor for some new projects and possibly some boating adventures.

We decided to meet up at "world famous" South of the Border a place that is commonly referred to as a tourist trap located right on Interstate 95 in South Carolina. I also included a little bit of information about South of the Border in this video.

Wayne!!! I just got into your videos about a year ago and they are so comforting to me. I have only been watching DIY Waterworld for about a month. I love content on electric motors, custom, tiny, and everything boats. I believe electric motors are going to become the new norm a lot faster than people think. Love that you guys are making content together. That’s awesome! More please.

Wayne, you do some great videos and I will check out diywaterworld. Might I suggest you consider a future video on some of the types of small boats such as different sizes of Jon boats, Modified V jon boats and fishing boats ( such as Lund adventure ). You have a great way of doing the pros and cons like you did with the electric motors.

I recently purchased a Newport 55lb thrust trolling motor to replace my old 30lb thrust Minnkota troller. The difference is night and day. The new motor moves my 14ft aluminum fishing boat through the water at a fairly good pace. And does not drain the battery nearly as fast as my old Minnkota does. And thank you for all your fantastic videos. I have several old gas motors and will be refurbishing them soon but with my new trolling motor, I'm not in any rush..

@@jonjacobjingleheimerschmid3798 I used to only use a canoe by myself for fishing, i used it like a kayak and I found my new StarCraft for $300 with a motor and trolling motor and I love it. I’m a bigger guy so that’s why I got a canoe so I could have more gear.

I'm not sold on electric cars yet, but these out boards seem great for small boats. Especially for ponds and lakes where you don't need to run wide open for hours at a time.

At first glance I thought you had given it away to Todd Castledine. 😂 Awesome of you to pay it forward like this. You’ll surely be blessed in return. Will Prowess has some great videos that will help with repairing that LiFePO4 battery if it’s not under warranty. Most likely it can be repaired with Bluetooth medical grade BMS for under $100

I'm a big time reservoir fisher in maryland and I am so wanting one of the electric outboards, but they're just too expensive

Used this motor and battery on Lake Chelan, Wa. to push a 2000lb sailboat. At 65 percent motor output, our boat went 4 -5 knots for 2-3 hours. The battery held a charge when we landed, but hard to know how much. The Li Time 55 amp battery from Amzn at half the price pushed the boat for 4-5 hours at 33-70 percent, 3-5 knots. The motor is not powerful enough to get you out of weather related trouble. Plus it vibrates annoyingly.

On the lithium battery, tie lead acid batteries together into a series to equal the lithium and then put the charger on it. If the battery is too low the electronic charger doesn't recognize it. The battery being charged has to be in the perimeter of the charger. This is common on ebikes. If you are using it regular, then there is usually a burned wire someplace related to the BMS. I watch Forrest, that's one crazy guy with lots of guts. Lol

You can fix that battery with 3x 12v solar panels chained together appropriately to make 36v. I had to do that with mine. Annoying, but that battery is still good.

I am working with a 40hp tahatsu base. The engine was blown. I bought a 100hp electric motorcycle that was wrecked. Frame is bent, and I still ran and charged. My plan is to couple the motor to the base. Incorporate the battery pack to the lid. So its self contained.

I experienced my Newport battery dying as well. I also had a charger issue and (3) defective motors. I did have over 100 or so fishing trips on my motor and batteries but an electric motor should last for years in my opinion. I was an early adopter of the motor. BEWARE of Newports warranty. The fine print states a one time replacement over a two year time frame. As stated, Newport did replace more than one motor but eventually turned their back on me refusing further support.

The old transformer chargers are also a good way to get the charge up and then switch to the electronic charger

Atta boy. Try a TomKing TK144FC air cooled four cycle, as that's what I have. While I am respectful, I filed a notch and retarded the idle for better trolling, hand finished the prop for much better results, changed out the centrifugal clutch springs for light ones, added a leather pad to the steering lock, and replaced the steering arm bolt with much bigger better hardware. I can troll on 7 Oz of gas an hour and it starts super easy. gomaxind doot coom just a bargain. I want to see a smile on your face.

I prefer electric outboards that use external bought seperate batteries. It makes it easy to change them.

Yeah! However you can use third party batteries with an ePropulsion as well - it's just not initially designed to do so.

Um, You probably already know this, but If you arn't trying to get on plane, being "waterlogged" or not would have no practical effect on speed or efficiency...maybe slightly slower to accelerate, but that's about it.
