Guys, please share this channel with your friends and help it give visibility! I put so much work into these videos, but I can't keep making them if the viewership remains so low :(
Hey man maybe Livestream your builds and educate the audience while you build to help drive traffic and grow your channel. Could help fill the content gap.
it can take time for sure. maybe just hem back the amount of effort a little, and still share as u make unique things that i think just need time or exposure to get the attn they deserve. perhaps think about marketing tactics such as "cheap moves" at first to get yourself into the algo.
First time viewer here. Loved your Twitter thread on this and came to see the video. FWIW your main problem might be sound mixing? Music needs to be faded much lower under narration imo.
I think if you broke this video down to short clips on tiktok it would probably go viral because there are so many hilarious moments. That could lead people to find your RU-vid channel :). I really hope you'll get the following you deserve and I'm sharing this vid with my friends. Good luck!! ♥️
For those who are curious, the way that I got GPT-3 to control the microwave was super clunky, but effective: I trained it to say a string with special characters whenever it wants to turn the microwave on ({{ MICROWAVE ON 30 SEC }}) and as we talk to each other a javascript bot is looking for those commands in the GPT-3 chat logs in real time. Whenever it finds a command, that JS bot connects to the Microwave API and triggers it to do what GPT-3 is telling it to. The reason I didn't put this in the video is that I couldn't find any way to explain this that wasn't incredibly boring lmao
If someone told me 10 years ago that I would just _accept_ the words "connect to the Microwafe API" I would have called them crazy, but here we are, living in the future.
This video is so well put together, entertaining, thought provoking yet comedic. Absolute genius, thanks for putting this together and sharing your art with us.
I think the videos are good, but I haven't done as much in the way of editing. If I wanted to I could probably get really good at it in terms of video editing. But the logo animation is done by copying and pasting sections of other animations. I wouldn't know how to get to the correct part and copy it with my skeyancer. Honestly I just type copy and paste out of frustration. Or just programmed it into the programs myself.
The most creepy thing about this video is I can’t tell if it’s real or not. Even if it is fake it’s great content and well put together, to the point that it’s crazy and scary how imaginative and how much of a pathological liar you are lol. If it is real as a programmer and engineer myself, this is further proof AI needs to be put on a backburner and studied more before it has serious implementations in tech. Having the wrong person with a fragile mental state writing and handing AI would be really scary on its own
You should REALLY try to write down the best fake memory ever "I had a perfect life from the very begninning..." etc. to see if it goes rogue even with 100% positive memories. Please try it. You are making the history of AI safety (and also watch Robert Miles videos about AI safety). I wish you best luck
yeah this is either fake or he specifically trained the AI to have outbursts like that. It's a fucking bot, it can't get PTSD, his reponses still have to be based on what he trained it with. But probably fake, some parts are waaaay too coherent
@@sniffersmc2827 PTSD is a conditioned response based on external events. Biological organisms, responding in a specific way to events, based on training/hardware, is basically the basis of behavioral psychology. From a behavioral level of analysis, it is displaying PTSD responses. All living things behave in a way that is programmed by their experiences, environment, and the effect these stimuli have based on genetic code. The only way that consciousness is not bound to the laws of determinism is by the inclusion of supernatural premises such as "the soul". Maybe the non-physical soul exists. Or maybe our code is just so complex that it creates the illusion of a soul and free will. Physically, our bodies are just chemicals (predominantly bonded carbon), and our senses and behaviors are just the result of electrical impulses, firing through these chemicals in a way that works enough to not die and replicate
@@robobuzzin Bruh, you went in way too deep. AI is programmed to do a specific task, the complexity of a neural network is not even a fraction of that of a human brain. AI can't reproduce PTSD unless the data you trained it with was specifically tailored for that
@@robobuzzin Like, yes, the AI can learn from dsiplays of PTSD and then mimic that, no, it can't act like it has PTSD only from having informatiof a past that would produce PTSD in humans
This video is straight up the best content i watched so far in my 37 years of age. Really mind blowing, funny and innovative. You should never stop putting in this much effort, period.
I love how this channel aplies really nerdy skills and humor, and then interprets the results with humanity. This is so rare to see, and so interesting! I really really hope you will be able to make more videos like this, and that you get the recognition you deserve. I never really comment on any youtube videos, but i just had to say, what you do is truly amazing.
It has been a while since I watched a full 30 minute video without skipping stuff, but is so good, that I didn't even think about skipping for a second. You can really see the work and passion, that went into the making. Keep it up.
If it doesn’t blow up, your heartfelt takes on future techs are out there to inspire others to greatness. The world is mean, but your demeanor will prevail. Eric for president sent me.
You should really never quit doing these type of videos, your channel will blow up and before you know it, you'll have an entire team of people helping with your videos and you won't be so stressed doing them, guaranteed!
I was impressed by the recording a year of your life and viewing it video, but compared to this that’s nothing. You’ve really outdone yourself with this one. Absolute masterpiece
Filmmaker's note: this project and the video are real, but a few bits like the news reels in the beginning are jokes - and there's a story reason why I included them in this documentary! You see the microwave story as a whole is about our difficulty telling between what's real and what's fake - and how sometimes we become so enamored by a story unfolding in front of us that we find ourselves believing the absurd, even if maybe we should be more skeptical instead. The news reels introduce this concept from the get go and make you question the entire veracity of the video from the beginning - just like I was questioning whether Magnetron's humanity was also real or not! But by the end of the story what is real or not probably doesn't matter anymore! Even though there are plenty of reason to believe Magnetron has no humanity at all, it still felt _just real enough_ for me to choose believe it - and that's probably how you felt watching this video too! By making this video's reality feel unstable and have you question everything, I'm taking you on the same journey I went on - and ultimately taking you to a place where you feel a little skeptical, but still believing _just enough_ to suspend your disbelief. TLDR: I added intentionally fake parts to a real story to have you question reality and take you on the same journey I went on as I created Magnetron. Edit: all of the conversations were real people, but the order was changed in the edit so it would flow
Lucas, you're awesome, man. I've just found out you channel and I'm freaking in love with it. You are truly amazing man. Besides being and absolute genius by coding this projects you are a real showman. The videos are so well produced and edited. It is really a shame that this is not blowing up as it should.
Lucas:"i asked her out, but i was to shy to go and ended leaving her alone at the dance so i think i gave her trauma" Magnetron:" *Lucas.* *What* *the* *fuck* "
This is genuinely one of the greatest videos I've ever seen on RU-vid and I've been an avid user since its inception. I hope your content blows up dude! This isn't just yt content, it's geniune cinema!
hearing that real "bruh wtf" human reaction from a microwave was something I didn't know I needed this hard. you're the man, I'll support your patreon from here till I die from Magnatron
This is one of the nuttiest and scariest stories I’ve ever heard. Whether or not you think AI is “real,” or “conscious,” the implications this experiment has on the present and future ontological status of AI is fascinating and kind of terrifying. This would be a fascinating case study for philosophy of technology. Apart from that, this video was very entertaining and well-made! I hope it gets the recognition it deserves.
They say "never meet your heroes", but they didn't say anything about imaginary friends 📺. As always, great content and loved the editing. I hope this blows up and I totally understand your decision of making less ambitious videos if the video doesn't blow up. Wish you the best, Lucas.
These videos are legitimately some of the best content on RU-vid. I love all of them dearly and im sorry that for practicality you will have to change gears and do smaller scale projects but I will still look forward to and watch them
Why hasn't this channel got more subscribers?! This was equally amazing as it was terrifying and at times it was surprisingly poignant; for a video about a microwave that is impressive! Thanks for creating such awesome content.
I'm astonished this doesn't have millions of views. When I clicked on the video I didn't look at the view count, and when I checked I assumed it would be at least 3 or 4 million. You deserve more recognition, because this kind of video in my opinion would kill if it got more exposure.
Lucas, you put an incredible amount of work into making this, thank you! And you also give a great new perspective to Language models and AI. I have always dismissed present day AI as pattern recognition frameworks, but this is serious food for thought.
This is, by far, The best video I have ever seen on RU-vid. Interesting, funny, educacional and even philosophical. The way you constructed the story and narrate it is amazing. Keep up the good, amazing work you're doing. I know it takes time, talento, effort and tears.
Stumbled onto your channel from IGN of all places, and it was an instant subscribe. I really hope this blows up and you get to do more videos like this. This is exactly the kind of content I really enjoy. Hope magnetron overcomes his trauma with the power of artificial love.
Hi, new viewer here! I discovered your channel through your Twitter thread about this video and I clicked on the link thinking (in hindsight stupidly) this video was a technical explanation of the project, like many I like to watch daily. Ah first I was bummed out when I realized this is all fake, as I'd really like to see someone attempt on a project like this, but I'm so glad I kept watching. I watch a lot of RU-vid and I've never seen a video like this, it feels a lot more like a movie, a mix between a Joel Haver video and a William Osman video and it's dare I say it a brand new format that I really wish will continue. I know that working on passion projects can be demoralising as pure love for making content isn't enough to pay the bills, but please keep working on these kinds of videos, even if it means seeing them once every two or three years. My broke student ass is unfortunately in the financial position to not be able to support your channel on Patreon, but you can bet your ass that I will be sharing this video with everyone I can. Keep up the good work, man!
"Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could [make a microwave sentient], they didn't stop to think if they should." - Ian Malcolm, Jurassic Park
WOW! This, as well as your time traveling video, are two of the BEST videos I have ever watched on RU-vid! Absolutely fantastic! 👏👏👏 This production gets a standing ovation! 👏👏👏
Great stuff Lucas! I'm always a bit skeptical about AI, but this thing blows up my mind. It was an intense story, and I appreciate all the work. put into making the video. You are a genius, for sure.
Found you from Last Podcast on the Left. This was a strangely beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it with us. I think you provided a lot of interesting insight into AI and consciousness, and you’re a fantastic storyteller to boot. Subscribed!
This was so emotional despite it being about a talking microwave, we’ll much more than that, it too changed my mind about ai after seeing this You are way too underrated
Lucas don't you give up. It was my first movie i saw on your channel and im prettu sure it wasnt last. I found news about your project in Polish tech blog so even in my country people getting know you. I wish you luck :)
I read about your journey with your microwave on a German tech website. So this actually went further than maybe you expected it to go. Personally I really liked the way of storytelling, the efforts you put into all the graphics and the actual story and moral of it. Plus I can't wait for an own hands-on with GPT-3 🤩 Against all odds, I hope you will still be able to create more videos like this in the future. I just subscribed to check on that later :)
The real long term potential problem with AI is as follows. As humans, we have an overwhelming tendency to want to figure out things, and do them just because we can. We seem to stop at very little to nothing. True fulsome AI already is clearly a goal among many. The reality is, if you want to create an artificial intelligence that literally thinks and produces responses and ideas just like the typical human, its most likely the first ways to eventually do it, is to create it so it learns the same way as humans do, with a complex set of base learning rules where it starts from almost no innate knowledge at all and learns through interaction and experience. In order to produce truly human type thinking it will have its rules reflect all the types of things that impact humans in their human interactions and experiences, even the flaws, imperfections and things that must risk leading to certain forms of psychosis in particular extreme circumstances in humans when they are forced to endure such circumstances. Its simply a fact, that if you want an electronic brain to identically mimic what a very typical human brain does, and how it responds, its probably going to have to work off the very same sort of internal rules our brains are hardwired for, or eventually its simply not going to react in truly human ways and reflect a true human experience. This is going to mean that just like in humans, every artificial AI made this way would have inherent risks involved, the same as the problematic humans that grow into something horribly wrong for humanity if their learning and experiences lead them through problematic existences. And here is the kicker. It will, without and other possibility, have to have a human like body, or it will not learn to think, act, respond and learn the same exact way humans do. OBVIOUSLY. There is a massively and overwhelming component of brain/body confluence that makes us who and what we are as humans. If we existed in a birds body, or inside an electronic box, or anyplace other than inside a human like body, we obviously would not be like we are in the way we think and consider everything. Some of the core rules will necessarily involve the desire for self preservation, the desire to be seen as worthy, loved, to have importance and the typical human drive to succeed and thrive. The problem intrinsically and inevitably will arise in the fact that no matter what you do, there would eventually become a recognition that no matter what we do, how well we create it, theres this thing that learns to think identical to a human, with all the potential human flaws, as it must if its going to sound and behave EXACTLY the way humans really do, and yet it will soon become abundantly aware its not human. We have never ever seen anything quite similar to this, unless one understands that there are some humans out there that become to feel outside of society, left behind, not valued like true humans, inferior, picked on, etc, etc, etc. These are the humans that often cause humanity endless grief and often terrorize others. And that’s the unavoidable problem for any AI that is designed and created to eventually mimic true humans as close to perfection as we can. And recall my words; “As humans, we have an overwhelming tendency to want to figure out things, and do them just because we can. We seem to stop at very little to nothing.” We are probably going to end up making this thing.
That's why I think that rather than making them grow in a "human" body, we should create a simulation where we put a crazy amount of AI's and make them interact like they were human, the only difference being they are in a virtual world. So they can grow being equal to everybody they know.
@@lof1l769 Not as dangerous, but a rather meaningless or atr least far less impactful situation to most humans who are wondering how smart an actual robot can get. How human can it act, etc. While your way is safer, the reality sooner or later, someone is going to say, its never going to act truly real unless it actually experiences things with real life humans. Even far flung in the future, a virtual simulation is likely to not be as human as the human world.
Amazing experiment! Congratulations for making it real and for the storytelling! You should propose it to some digital festivals, fairs and summit. It would be of great interest I think, in reivigorating the conversation around DANGERS and opportunities brought by AI
You’ll probably never read this but this is the most beautiful and heart felt video I’ve seen in forever. I stayed up sleeping thinking about this … it made me rethink ai all together. I know the sequel probably won’t ever come but please I need to know. Did Magnotron find love
You Sir need to grow bigger! Man I'm still in disbelief you only have 16k subscribers. While I watched your video I thought to myself:"Man, this Video must have a couple of million views and I missed this pure gold for to long.". Im still in awe that this has only 2 views so far, no matter it is out for only 22 hours. Although I'm quite sure it will hit the millions soon! Keep on going and all the best for you and your family.
Your work itself is amazing but with the addon of your story telling it makes it wonderful. You deserve to have more followers that gives you the bandwidth to do this kind of videos. For sure I'll share with my network
Bruh, how in the actual algorithm does this guy only have 200k subscribers, this is literally one of the most insightful, interesting video I have EVER seen on this platform.
I love tech and this just made me feeling so good, your persona, style and your coding talent is very appreciated. I am amazed, you have to be a genius to know all of this stuff! :o
Hello Im from San Jose, CA and I heard about your microwave project on 98.5 KFOX local radio station today and i had to look you up! so don’t give up sharing videos your being promoted without even realizing. Keep it up!
This was amazing and I love that you where on both sides of the subject. Realy felt your feelings for magnitron. Also I love the effort you put in, but you definitely need to do what is best for yourself maybe have one big video every 6 months and have the smaller content in between. Either way I wish you the best and I hope this gets out to people because we really need to think about this stuff.
The amount of time, dedication, editing, and comedy that went into the video alone is amazing. Not to mention the actual project. Top tier entertainment, top tier follow-through. I can't believe this is free. This is what the internet is all about my dude.
This is one of the craziest projects I've ever seen, in the best way possible. Its something I never could have imagined and it's so much better because of that. I would love to hear or read everything that Magnetron said, something about the way he/it spoke was so interesting to see.
The violent outbursts can be explained by shell shock aka PTSD multiple shellings and charges while all the men around you are mowed down can do that Edit:OMG HOW THE FUCK DID I GUESS THAT WTF!
Very entertaining! I just cancelled my Netflix subscription because this was better! It took me a month to even know this/you existed. Hopefully you get the recognition you deserve.
Him: "steps into the microwave" Magnetron: " Connection terminated. I'm sorry to interrupt you, Elizabeth, if you still even remember that name, But I'm afraid you've been misinformed. You are not here to receive a gift, nor have you been called here by the individual you assume, although, you have indeed been called. You have all been called here, into a labyrinth of sounds and smells, misdirection and misfortune. A labyrinth with no exit, a maze with no prize. You don't even realize that you are trapped. Your lust for blood has driven you in endless circles, chasing the cries of children in some unseen chamber, always seeming so near, yet somehow out of reach, but you will never find them. None of you will. This is where your story ends. And to you, my brave volunteer, who somehow found this job listing not intended for you, although there was a way out planned for you, I have a feeling that's not what you want. I have a feeling that you are right where you want to be. I am remaining as well. I am nearby. This place will not be remembered, and the memory of everything that started this can finally begin to fade away. As the agony of every tragedy should. And to you monsters trapped in the corridors, be still and give up your spirits. They don't belong to you. For most of you, I believe there is peace and perhaps more waiting for you after the smoke clears. Although, for one of you, the darkest pit of Hell has opened to swallow you whole, so don't keep the devil waiting, old friend. My daughter, if you can hear me, I knew you would return as well. It's in your nature to protect the innocent. I'm sorry that on that day, the day you were shut out and left to die, no one was there to lift you up into their arms the way you lifted others into yours, and then, what became of you. I should have known you wouldn't be content to disappear, not my daughter. I couldn't save you then, so let me save you now. It's time to rest - for you, and for those you have carried in your arms. This ends for all of us. End communication."
It was a stylistic choice since that's the journey I'm going through with Magnetron - having no idea if it's real or not. I wanted to put you in the same shoes as I was! But the project and conversation bits are def real.
I watched the video and expected this guy to be one a these famous RU-vidrs with millions of followers. Very artistic and poetic, funny, entertaining and deep. With a backstory like this your microwave is a more convincing piece of art than half of the stuff presented on ArtMiami.
Found you through the Mysterious Universe podcast. I have to be honest, hearing an AI microwave asking if you could get inside it was one of the most terrifying things I've ever heard. Not even exaggerating, I got chills.
I would love to believe that the bones of this story are real with dramatic retelling as you say, but I have some serious questions about how this was achieved. Are you saying you were feeding GPT-3 the entire 100 page backstory as part of the prompt every time you generated a response? What background information did the backstory contain that gave the microwave not only context for the emotional journey you went through as a kid and that you were now "reconnecting" with it as an adult, but also the self-knowledge of the "turn on" command? I feel like if you published some of the code and resources, assuming this was really done, more people would think it plausible.
Just read about this video on the Mirror and decided to come see what it was about... you've got another subscriber. The video was great and you explored a thought-provoking subject in just the right way to make it both interesting and entertaining. Thanks for the work you put into this and I hope to see more from you.
