NL not knowing what card combos are "conventionally" strong on the Watcher makes these runs 10x more entertaining because he could probably just reliably win almost every run but sometimes he just decides a bomb deck or a 20+ card pressure points deck is the play.
I'd like to think that some ESL individual out there learning English and watching NL will pick up "for a guy like me" as a completely normal sentence ender to use.
I'm not quite ESL - Spaniard, but have spoken English as long at a native level as Iong as I can remember - but he definitely infected me with the "brother" virus. When I actually speak English I end up ending every other sentence with it, brother.
>Gets an upgraded apotheosis immediately. >Insists on upgrading every other card in his deck even when he has 6hp before the first boss. >Says a Lesson Learned would go hard. >Gets Lesson Learned and goes out of his way to make sure he gets to use it. >In the 3rd act finally remembers he has Apotheosis and doesn't need to upgrade cards at campfires. >Immediately upgrades more cards at campfires. Glad that shit worked out cause I was losing my mind.
@@blahthebiste7924 Which is significantly better than being draw negative like 90% of other cards. 1 energy for 10 draw neutral block is pretty cracked.
1:39 NL spending a miracle only to play a basic strike instead of conclude only to follow it up by immediately eating damage to the face from decay for absolutely no reason is how you know its gonna be One Of Those Runs
1 hour plus? Surely he navigates a difficult run strategically and well planned leading to a slow played and mindful but deserved victory. And surely he's not speed running several deaths...
NL, my two cents are - Maybe take cards when you feel like you're gonna lose, to make your deck better. In one of the runs you are spending most of the time in calm and you didn't considered an upgraded like water, for example.
auough i can't resist it these videos got me transforming like a full moon does a werewolf into a greasy type a chatter i can't take this man i need to quench my urge boldly asserting that a 2 cost 2 draw attack is necessary insta-pick for getting a 2 cost bomb out has me shivering in my timbers, it's such a strange local minima for the gut instinct neural network the existence of swivel in the deck does help justify the choice but it's still so out there, i wouldn't want to be caught relying on the draw rng to line up for the swivel into wheel kick combo to make sense in supporting playing the bomb i'm not saying that my own neural pathways aren't severely decroded either, you will catch my ass making greedy plays left and right to construct a better deck, but usually the inner cost-reward function running that is moderately sensible just that off the top of my dome i can't think of a worse watcher draw card for making the bomb thing work, especially early, than wheel kick. at minimum that requires burning through the miracle, or relies on a
I know it probably wont happen, but when you finish the ascension climb, I would love to see you play the daily runs. It could be like a (semi) daily episode where you can pog out and do some fun stuff. The StS content slaps hard, and the views are decently above everything else. Give it a thought.
You're telling me all I have to do to beat ascension 12 is stop playing near the end to pick up my daughter and take her out to lunch? I gotta have some kids man.
One thing to watch out for on the sentry fight is that the conventional play (focus damage on the lowest health sentry on the left or right) isn't always the best move if you have conclude+wrath (for Ironclad immolate is somewhat similar but it depends on the deck if its viable). Killing the center sentry puts you in a position where you are likely to get lethal on one or both of the other sentries on the next turn(depends on deck so YMMV), especially if you can get an attack off on the right or left sentry on the first turn before you conclude.
Not taking the like water + made my brain explode. You literally were in calm 90 percent of the time. You're snecko fight would have cost you like 30 less hp if you just picked up that card.
am i crazy in thinking that he overvalues the plated armor on wish? 4 strength on an upgraded wish means 8 strength in wrath and 12 on divinity. with ragnarok this is like 40 extra damage on wrath and 60 extra damage on divinity when the card is unupgraded. ofc i can see situations where 8 plated helps out like not needing defends on a turn where the enemy does 8 damage but i feel like it'd be better to click strength more often to end fights faster feel free to correct me if i'm wrong here though, i'm not too knowledgable about the mechanics of slay the spire. i'm assuming strength gets added before wrath/divinity multiplies the damage
Yes you're correct, watcher in particular benefits from strength disproportionately. Also upgraded ragnarok gets 48 and 72 bonus damage. He's lazy with his math and risk averse so he plays too safe in general because clicking wrath feels risky when you don't know how much damage your cards do.
Because the other one is going to attack next turn, so if you cant kill the one currently attacking you its better to setup lethal on the guy attacking you next turn
Yeah i just got to that part of the video, that was disgusting. I still think thats the reason he did it, cuz its the general correct strategy you use for those guys, but he is just playing fast and sloppy
It's usually the correct play to go for the left or right one to avoid a 20 damage turn, but in the case of the apotheosis run you're 100% correct. The other two would have been on 13 because of conclude and it would have been an easy strike vigilance and he wouldnt have taken 27 damage for no reason. Edit: ran it back and if he used strike+ on the center sentry it would have died and the right sentry would have been on 3, not 13.
27:15 Me resisting the urge to reach into my screen and cracking this egg with a spoon to slurp out its nutritious contents for the entire Polygon fight
@@SupremeOverlord24yeah it's only worth if you're going to overflow your hand same turn or you have something that gives value for just playing/exhausting or losing hp. idk what bro is on about
He's not entirely wrong. He'd have to play Pressure Points three times to strip off all the Artifact before he could actually start doing damage, then play it twice more to kill it. That's a pretty big ask.
just wild ass card choices lmao i see nl pick the bomb first pick im like aight i can prolly peep the seek bar this run is not working lmao. I see on the next run bro picks pressure points I don't even need to watch the run I can just move on to the next attempt instantly lmao also this dude hates cut through fate and stance dancing lmao
