I had to do another Peter and Gordon classic since I had a clean digital copy I got from a friend. I'd like to also do "I Don't Want To See You Again" if I can get a copy from a CD. Hope you oldies fans like too!
When I was a junior in high school I would play this over and over and over. My girlfriend and I broke up after going steady since our freshmen year. This song has always been "her" song. When we started our senior year I asked her to go to a football game and we stayed together and got married a year after we graduated.
This is my favorite song by Peter and Gordon. My girlfriend and I began going steady in our freshman year of high school and all through our sophomore year and in our junior year we broke up and she dated another guy. This song haunted me the entire time and I shed a lot of tears listening to it. Early in our senior year I asked her to go to a football game and we were back together! We got married a year after high school and stayed married for 17 years. It was one of those "life choices" that we sometimes make that we look back at later and wonder why we did what we did. We both remarried, but today we are friends and that's good for us and our kids and their families. But this song was the one that always brought tears to my eyes whenever I played it and the memories of that time in my life is still poignant.
The 1st song not written by the Lennon and McCartney team. It was written by an American Rocker. When they approached Del Shannon in Australia in 1964 because they were in tour together, when they asked Del Shannon about this song. Del Shannon no doubt knew who was writing songs for them. He let them have this song and it became a hit for Peter and Gordon. But Del Shannon knew they were great singers.
@@joegongora2200 Aside from doing a cover of "If I Fell", a song penned primarily by John Lennon, all the "Lennon--McCartney" songs performed by Peter and Gordon were written solely by Paul McCartney. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_and_Gordon#History
I hear you Rhonda .I was a young boy when this song came out. I'm 64 as of May 28th. The 50's , 60's and 70's were definitely the decades for music.I got my first guitar on Christmas of 1971 when I was 14 and a half and I could already sing but with my guitar now I copied the music and vocals. I then stated to write music and lyrics back then. That wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for all these great songs and bands that came out back then.Music isn't just a fun hobby it's. my life .It became a way to cope with depression and anxiety,Etc...
what great music. how can you not sing along with that song. their are times I wish I was young and back in the 60's. then their are times that I don't. however I never ever seem to get tired of the music.
One of the songs that captured my soul back in the day and remains very high on my favourite list. Great melody and fantastic lyrics. Who could want more......
I first heard this the day I found out my first crush wasn’t interested. Shattering. That was in 1971, 6 YEARS after Peter and Gordon released it. I saw her again later at another friend’s house. We talked and laughed about 7th grade. Now it’s all a fond memory, and I still listen to this song.
One of the first songs I cried to as a lonely, young, heartbroken, teenage boy .... It still haunts me, and this version is intense ...... thanks. ..... P.S. Peter Asher looks just like Mike Meyers as 'Austin Powers" in many of these photos ....lol ...
“I remember what she said, when she said...” love that line and believe some broken hearts never mend. P & G got the feeling Del Shannon wrote about in this song!
I've heard Their Songs 100's of Times in my Life, & I never get tired of Them. Peter & Gordon were 2 of a Kind. THANK You, C-35... -for keeping Them sounding so Fresh. :)
Attention all you Peter & Gordon fans! I just produced a HD stereo version of 'I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN" and when I uploaded it to RU-vid they banned it. Here is what you can do to get around this nonsense. Send me a request at my direct E-mail (jedinight17961@yahoo.com) and I'll send you an mp3(320kbs) direct from the original wave file and send it back in the attachment. Kenn
Thanks for enhancing it. It sounds great especially a song that was written by an American & not the Beatles. They heard Del Shannon demonstrating the song when he was on tour in Australia 1964. They told Del Shannon they'd liked the song. Del Shannon said yes to them. The song became a hit for Peter & Gordon. It sure is a wonderful song. Peter and Gordon were wonderful performers.
This song is the love story for a woman named Carolyn. It ended badly, but I still love her after 37 years, even though we haven't spoken to in this time. When occasionally see her on a street corner I get shaky and feel so weak.
Del Shannon knew how to write a love story and condense it down into the form of a beautiful song.this song being a perfect example! I also can relate this song to past heartache, but I found strength to come to terms with my greif by the emotion of the song. It's like someone knowing what you felt before you did, makes you realise your not the only one to go through that hurt, so hay! Your not alone in feeling those sad emotions.. Hope love is kinder to your outcome in Life my friend.
I loved it at 13, & I love it now, at 69 yrs old. Makes me think of the one that got away, when I was 22 (Michael). I've had my fair share of boyfriends, but I can't forget him. 💔

Please listen to REO Brothers do this!!! It's Exactly like the Enhanced Version. They are a low budget Pilipino Group with 4 part Harmonies! Also do Beatles, ELO, and others! Gotta give them a listen!!
This is one of several songs that got me through my junior year in high school. My girlfriend and I broke up at the beginning of our junior year. We started going steady during the eight grade. We got back together in the fall of our senior year. We got married in 1966, a year out of highschool. We divorced after 17 years, but we are now friends at least. She was my first true love.

One of the greatest 12 string guitar intros ever recorded. Most cover bands try to 'push' this song a bit and consequently ruin the precise 4/4 time signature and 112 BPMs.
Thanks that no turkeys have posted a "still listening in..." squawk! Although P&G music is so timeless! Ahh memories. Good job with the music - far out!

When you hear these songs after decades of not hearing them I'm astonished at how good the persormances and song writing was. Yea, it was that good! TAKE THAT, Rap!
Yup--these songs are COMPOSITIONS! Del Shannon did a great job in creating a melody and chords that is mesmerizing. This is exactly what is missing in today's music. I don't even call it music--I call it trash! This method of making beautiful melodies and chord patterns has been abandoned by the music industry. Those songs had a high standard in music excellence and it has been replaced by talent mocking buffoons of today!
I am blown away by how beautiful this song sounds now that you've enhanced it! I subscribed to your page (or whatever you call it!). I don't know how you do it, but the songs you enhance sound amazing!

When I was 15, Carol was my first girlfriend and she was 14 years of age. We were neighbors since kids. She was a dark hair Italian beauty, and I was a blonde hair skinny kid. That spring she grew up in a hurry and was no longer the little girl down the street. We hung around together that summer of 1964, playing cards and table games at her house, and sneaking a kiss when her mom wasn't looking. I thought "this was love." But it was not to be. When we returned to Junior High School, she broke up with me and resumed a friendship with someone in her class. Then a few months later... while I was still thinking of her, this great song by Peter & Gordon was released, and it captured the loss of my first love. I bought the album and I'd turn the volume way up when I played this vinyl on my portable stereo... and my mom would yell at me from downstairs to turn my music down. After a few times of that, I'd wait to play this song when mom was out of the house, and I'd bounce the sound vibrations of this song off my bedroom walls. The 1960s were a great time to live and this song was a big part of that time for me. But in time several years later, I was sent to Vietnam... it was then that I grew up in a hurry...!!! Funny thing is that Carol and I married the next people we dated and both of us have two children. Carol and I bump into each other once in a while and when she smiles, my mind immediately goes back to my memories of the summer of 1964...!!
