It gives ability haste and some utility(the heal). He is so ahead that he doesn't need the most damage possible, just some survivability(ability haste reduces R cooldown). Also rn voidstaff is kinda cringe compared to the superior cyptbloom which is better in every game that has not 2/3 mr stacker(the rest of xlb team was ad so it's not worth to build exclusively mr )
