I've noticed Yammie saying quirks and features on a few videos recently. Don't know if it's intentional, but it definitely immediately reminded me of Doug.
he also said "and then we're gonna take it out on the road and see what it's like to ride" which is almost word for word what doug says before he goes into the quirks and features
my brother has a firebolt xb12r and its a fantastic bike. im sure the 119 is fantastic as well. something fun about having vtwin characteristics on a sporty frame.
I love everything american made I wanna start out by saying that. But I can't believe you compared that to a Ducati. Lol.... I really like the way it looks, but for that much money you would be better off spending it on a R1. And if you're set on owning a motorcycle like that, because you like the v-twin engines. Ducati is the way to go. If I could afford a Ducati that's what I would ride. My 2002 R1 looks twice as fast as this Buell. My R1 is a race bike off the track that I put license plates on and now I ride on the street now. So I know mine's a race bike. But still, I think a stock R1 would take that Bull in any race. Good review dude, thanks for the video. I'm glad to see Buell is back in the game. And that quick shift looks sick. That's one thing I wish I could have on my older R1.
@@JNAMOTORSPORTS s1000 and Ducati to a different extent/in a different way have a monopoly on shark design especially when it comes to the stylized gills look. That is a s1000 design trait, whether you think the bike looks like one overall is besides the point.
they have a monopoly on something you can't really patent??? i guess they're all copying the wright brothers using wings, foils, and spoilers.@@MarissaTheMuse
As Australia found out with holden.. if you want these brands to stick around.. you gotta actually buy the thing.. so get out there and keep them building American made stuff
Never heard of buell bikes before but, when I imagine an all American superbike this is just the thing, raw af, no electronic aids, sounds like a 70s muscle car, and that whine when you let off the throttle? Just awesome.
@@jkfsz Erik Buell sold the majority stake of both his ventures to a big bike company (HD and Hero) and both times they rug pulled him. The bikes themselves actually sold really well. This venture is self funded by the new CEO, so no risk of corporate fuckery
My EBR 1190rx has been my dedicated track and race bike for 9 years. Only issue has been bad ignition coil. Once you get her set up right, they handle like a dream!!
Who doesn't like a Sorge Of Turk? 😂 That Buell must be fun. Yam was forgetting how to talk the whole video. Well done Buell and fun, very complete video , Yammie.
Happy to see they are still making motorcycles, and they have there own engines thats a major up grade, Bravo. I like the bikes with the old throttle cable.
Still a rotax made motor. It was never a “rotax motor” buell sent them the specks to be made the way they wanted. Rotax was just the machine shop. The motor isn’t in anything but a buell and ebr motorcycle.
Dude, I love that bike. I love the minimum amount of tech. Too many people rely on tech instead of relying on the seat of your pants feel. I'm giving this bike some serious consideration. I was looking at another brand, but, I like the visuals in your review. She's fantastic. Amazing she comes race ready right out of the box.
Exactly.. I know it's hardly a comparison, but my hot rodded 1989 HD FXRS with an S&S 96 is cable throttle.. it's too old for tech.. no ABS, no rain modes.. nothing fancy. You have to love the relationship with the bike you get when you are not dependent on everything else telling you what you should be feeling.
I always kinda loved the look of the old Buells back in the 00s - they had short wheelbases & were very flickable, wheelied easily, stoppied easily - those who wanted to do stunts tended to get them. Pretty much the only American bike I was really interested in buying. Never really got the Harley vibe, but these were pretty capable bikes at the time & had a number of innovations like the fuel in frame (and iirc engine oil in the swingarm..?) & those mahoosive radial disk hoops.
That's what I'm saying! I really want a Buell XB12SCG! The short wheelbase and the torque of those bikes, mixed with the low centre of gravity make it among the most fun bikes someone will ever ride! It's a shame people don't give them a chance!
The only way they can grow their company is if they released a budget friendlier model that’s exactly what other luxury sports vehicle companies have done in the past, there is no way the average sport bike rider will drop that much on a bike that’s in the same category as a cbr or s1k
You should look into Royal Enfield. Their build quality is great now. The price is right, minimal tech, and their new 650 twins are pretty sweet. The most advanced tech you'll find on their bikes is an lcd fuel display and fuel injection. (The new Himalayan that's coming in about year does have ride by wire though)
You know i can get a used ducati 996 in perfect condition one owner for 9 grand And that is exactly what you described. Old school twin, even has a dry clutch, no rider aids no abs not even an ECU because they have carbs. Oh the sex appeal of riding a 916/996/998 or 748, is superior to all other motorcycles. Women will look at you like a tall glass of water on a hot summer day. If you're a good looking man in your 20s anyways. Love it
The track I usually go to named Jennings GP and I believe the current track record was made by Nicola Canepa, a former MotoGP rider, on an EBR 1190. I am not sure the submodel nor the mods on that bike but from the record time I can tell, the bike is a beast! I saw good riders on track do 1:20 or even 1:19 and I also saw great riders on RU-vid do 1:18 low but the record is 1:13 something. Can not believe it!
@@Subaruktm Nope. He even says it in the video. It's the same old stuff from back mid teens. After ABR went bust, a financial company bought that inventory and is selling them off at a premium. 🤷♂
I had four EBR bike 1 SX and 3 RX I've sold 2 RXs one with 2.1 miles and the other with 12.2 miles last year. I ride my other RX as much as possible and it's been a really good riding bike and I'm glad it was made for a taller person in mind.
I’ve had mine for almost a year and absolutely love it. I got a cheaper model that comes with unpainted carbon fiber bodywork that looks amazing. Very nimble in traffic, tons of power. The microphone didn’t do justice to the sound of that engine. It’s a screamer.
I would buy one but they don't hold their value and I'm not prepared to take in in the shorts to get one. If they were priced more aggressively I would do it.
This is exactly what Buell should have done since the first Hammerheads rolled off the assembly line years ago now! For a boutique brand with basically a non existent advertising budget it’s guys like Yam who are going to get these bikes the brand recognition they so desperately need.
I would do dirty things to get hold of a Buell Supercruiser. It seems like Buell has finally got their shit together and is cranking out straight wins.
Have to admit it grew on me during your demo. As a 69 year old who never made it past 18 (maximum) I can definitely see one of these making it into the stable. Thx!
Definitely looks great. I absolutely love the color and the side vents that resemble a shark. It looks absolutely awesome. But I don't think I'd pay that price tag of over $20k considering what the other manufacturers offer for that price. And I'm definitely not a fan of the sound of the V-twin. However, I'm really glad to see that Buell making a come back. I really hope they keep putting out good bikes and maybe one day I'll get to ride one.
Been riding for 2+ years here in the UK with zero rider aids. No TC no ABS or 6 axis IMUs and honestly it's fine, personally the raw feel of a bike is way better than anything with rider aids like that, so nice to see a modern bike with older technology keeping it true. And those straight cut gears off the throttle, so sick
I'm happy to see that Buell is still around. While I didn't like the sound at idle (I agree it seems like the idle speed is set too low), it sounds great under load. The pull on that thing is insane. I was thinking what the hell were they thinking when you said the price, but after seeing it move, it could be worth it to someone that wants an analog experience.
As an enthusiast and ridden and owned plenty of bikes this is just one big lump of shit I have ever seen,it's just Harley using up left over motors look at the metals used on this thing, leave this outside overnight for 3 months and watch everything start rusting up....for that price you can buy a serious motorcycle even one that's a couple years old with low ks and all the extras as well........just go buy a v4 Max and you see what I mean.......that v4 vmax is the most under advertised under rated bikes ever to be on this planet.,......
Dude you are wrong on many levels, your bias is showing. And I’ve ridden a V4 Vmax, great engine but handling is atrocious. Plus these bikes are not even in the same category, so your biased opinion is pretty worthless. No offense. :-)
I inherited a Buell and even though it's a totally different machine from a different time, it seems the vibe is the same. Rides like the torque is infinite and even has the idle that feels like it's always almost about to die
do not listen to this fake review. it is sponsored. Buell is a garbage bike. bad handling VERY BAD under powered . this is just odd in every way . I test drove it and I was so scared. because it felt as if I would crash in every turn. very unstable . Unbalanced .
I don’t hate these bikes- I was very close to buying one. But that’s because they couldn’t sell them and they were HALF off. The idea that someone would pay $20k for bikes that had trouble selling at $9k nearly ten years ago is wild. It’s not a bad bike, but it wasn’t competitive and worth the money then. Why do they think it would be now? The new Buell hasn’t done anything to this bike to update it.
why does everything need to be competeitive. why cant you just bnuy something you like no matter how it compares to others. You will NEVER use whatever performance they are lacking on the street so why does it matter
@@infesting - Some people purchase bikes as an emotional purchase, others as a rational purchase. Neither is right or wrong, just personal preference. As with most things, majority of people fall somewhere in the middle.
They've worked so hard making it into something that last a long time and take significant abuse. And it's still the most powerful twin you can buy (30hp/26trq more than Ducati), and still one of the lightest.
I wanted a Buell Firebolt for the longest time just because of its unique factor, I don’t like having what everyone else has, I like being the black sheep 🐑 this might be a future consideration for me! Thanks Papa Yam 🍠
Get one I have a 2009 xb12r firebolt the way it handles and the freaking torque makes it super fun. Its nice to be able to have something different and unique when going on rides etc
buell's still use rotax motors actually, but rotax motors are great motors and are usually decently powerful but very reliable. many rotax motors are derived form airplane motors because rotax motors are what power a lot of small aircraft. can am quads use them and overall iv seen nothing but good performance and good reliability from them, plus they are mostly Canadian and partially American but all north American .well its definitely not as refined as other modern bikes and its priced just as high BUT that's because they are a small brand without as much experience so its obviously difficult and much more expensive to make a competitive sport bike. if I were in the market for a sport bike and I had enough for that bike i would get it even though it is not as good bang for the buck and I recommend that yall look into it too because the more buyers they get the cheaper their motorcycles will cost and eventually we can have a super competitive American brand!
My dad bought a brand new 2005 XB12R back in the day, he still owns it now. It’s done 103,000 kms. The only thing he has replaced is one O2 sensor and fuel filter
10:18 What’s that sound I’m hearing on decel/engine braking? Is that gear driven cams or straight cut gears or what? I feel like I know the answer but I have no idea at the same time. I’m a weirdo that would buy a bike for a quirk like that alone. Sound is everything to me. Any Buell guys know? Or yam?
My x1 was my favorite motorcycle. I must disagree with the thunderstorm evo platform that the torque made it rip out of the corners instead of dropping gears on the 4cyl bikes.
Give me a real throttle cable. I like it! As soon as computers are squeezed in between us and every facet of reality, [They] will leverage that for total control on threat of turning it all off.
It definitely looks and technology wise like a bike made in 2007 and not 2024,for its price it’s ridiculously overpriced since you can get a s1k,v4 or r1 for an example which are better in every way,for this bike to stand out it needs to be set at a good amount of lower price of a modern litter bike so it can be worth to get it and practice on it for its rawness
Loved the quirks&features thing and the redhead stepson lol 😂😂😂😂 HD was THE worst thing that happened to Erick and his/ours American sport breed bikes dream, dough the Rotax ones were quite fine at their job on track or interstate, and the sportster ones are just fine as first “fast bike” for a track trainee which was Eric first idea, much more as a Running Wild diesel tractor HOTROD like for the son of a old school deathangels kind of guy Love to see a new Triumphant return for EBR and that someone dedicated to track and bike soul like you not just purchasing one of them but also gifting the brand with thousand views 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 which is what really needed I wish I had a XB9, I think for me it is perfect at every design and performance aspect and solid as a rock Been a fan of the channel and every bike testing from you Noob for years, great, cool and nice this youtube era All the best brother
im sold, this might be my dream bike now. I wonder how this would perform in the superbike class as a race bike, I hope they are still making them in a few years so i can be fully ready for something like this.
@infesting I get that, I think I love the idea of an analogue bike more than its reality, so I'm defo not a purist as I don't mind an electronic fence to lean on. Modern rider aids such as TC and seperate lift control make for a very different riding experience as you can push harder faster when you have a safety net to find the edges of. TBH I couldn't ride that with the same confidence that my far more 'digital' bike has. Kudos to those who tame this old school analogue beast!
I ride 1 of 10 made white 2017 EBR 1190rx. It’s tuned from EBR with HMF 70mm pipes and stock gearing and it is sick. Nothing handles like it Bruddah! There are razor blades out there but only one scalpel! That bike is a supreme workout in the track. There is not to much to save you and it ls Very Angry! Before I rode this bike the Danktona Sex75 was quickest shiftiest bike I was on.
As you said with few electronic aids and throttle by wrist an old school super bike (like the 2011-2021 GSX-R750 series). Definitely for experienced riders on a track day or the autobahn. For street riding is there anything like torque to help a rider out?
Man cool bike but still sucks to see the sv1000s still being forgotten this bike reminds me so much of it from the sound to how it seems to ride if you see this yammy you should totally look into the sv1000s
Hopefully it doesn't have the "fuel boiling in the frame" problem of some older Buell's. I'm actually surprised that they're still doing it, after all the bad press.
A race tune and race coolant helps tremendously. The boiling fuel only happens at low fuel and it doesn’t hurt anything. The tank has a pressure release.they run lean from the factory to meet emissions and that makes more heat
Talking of quirks: # Perimeter disc - still thinkable # Fuel inside frame - now that's out of the box, And iirc, Buell was the first bike to have underbelly exhaust
