Welp, ~812 days later and I FINALLY have a new video for you all! Thank you all for being so patient with me, whether that's here on the Musick channel or on the other channels too. In 2018, after years and years of producing consistent videos on a regular basis across multiple channels, I got fatigued and needed to take a break. It was definitely longer than expected, but I needed to recharge my creative batteries, so to speak. I've been gradually working harder to regain the consistency I had before BUT also trying not to overdo it. So with that said, I will do my best to get you guys some more videos on all channels. Have a great weekend! ^-^
@Musick Hey Erik, idk if you listen to blink-182, but would you be interested in covering some of their songs? You and Tom DeLonge are the people who got me into playing guitar like 5 years ago.
I'm glad to see this channel running again! "STORYTIME" I first got into guitar from my father, who played since he could talk. But in recent years, the family went through a massive breakup, and it caused him to quit playing and getting rid of his first guitar... It really gutted me to see him so demotivated. I'm still trying to get him to play again, but my efforts don't seem to be getting him anywhere.. I was on the verge of giving up too, until you started this channel. Your enthusiasm in your videos really makes me smile! I've shown a few of your videos to my dad, and though he'll never admit it, I could tell he enjoyed them too. So maybe someday, he'll play again and it might be all because of you Eric. So thanks, you're a big inspiration to me. Cheers!
Woodsy ...I’ve been playing for 4 years and have a squier vintage modified strat and a blackstar ID Core 20 and probably wouldn’t be subbed to this channel if I didn’t play but sure
7:19 I think it depends more on what style of music you play - Fender necks feel a lot better to me for blues or similar styles, but the thickness and fingerboard radius of Ibanez necks makes them more suited to the kinds of music that Vai and Satch play
@@Musickal the fretboard radius of strats is 14" if I remember correctly and if you look down the fretboard you can kinda see the curve. On others itll be a lot flatter, sometimes even 20" which is completely flat. Pretty sick guitar tho
@@Kyle-hm7ee normal strats have a 9 and 3/4 radius I'm pretty sure and vintage ones have like a 7.25 or something wonky like that dont quote me but I think that's what it is
I understand that you’re not wrong in saying it’s a “custom” guitar, because it certainly is. However, I feel that clarifying mod shop versus actual custom shop should have been a part of the video. I own a mod shop telecaster, and they’re wonderful guitars, but there’s an insane difference between these and custom shop models; not only price but overall playability. I think you could have even gotten more views from this video had it gone over the ordering process through the mod shop, as it’s a very cool process.
@@armanzakwan1898 I think they just mean this is a solution to a problem that is non existent. Majority of people AND players don't care that he didn't make the specification, they came here for Eric, the guitar is just a plus.
You're honestly one of the reasons I started playing guitar recently and my first guitar I've picked up so far is a Ibanez iceman ic200 and I really enjoy your music videos and hope you post more because they're really enjoyable to a lot of people besides me think this.
I believe I started wanting to PICKUP (ha) guitar after I saw your “top ten songs to play on guitar” or something like that, and you BLEW my mind, dude. You and my stoner friend in middle school inspired me to be good and to be the best. I know I’m far from it at the moment, as I’ve only been playing for 3 years, but time will tell if I’ll be as good as you. I’ve been collecting guitars and even sometimes making my own. It’s been a wild 3 years, getting demotivated and “remotivated”(????). 2 years ago I saw your video of your new bass and I was ready to scream with joy!! I have the exact same bass as you, only it has 4 strings. I was so happy; one of my favorite guitarists has the same bass as me (sort of)!! You’ve been such an inspiration to me and I’m infinitely grateful. Thank you so much for posting. It made my day.
I’m glad your back to uploading to this channel I never thought it died, the passion for music is something no one can throw away. And I look forward to seeing what comes out in the future and that guitar sounds so good
@@fbuiafdf Doesn't sound like you've watched much of his channel. Those are not even his guitars and is that what he literally does? literally? Nah, you don't sound salty at all lolol
I remember the last time I was on this channel, I had no clue about anything about guitars. But because of this channel I started getting into playing the guitar. Now im obsessed with the guitar and I feel like im knowledgeable when it comes to the guitar. And watching this video I understand so much more than I used to. Thanks for getting me into guitar eric, your a legend.
Dude I checked back to this channel yesterday , and was like open it’s dead. Just a day later you’re uploading. And is it a surprise, I would never expect such a metal Ibanez player to buy a strat.
Merk if you want proper nice tone from a fender you need to pair it with a classic tube amplifier, I recommend the Fender blues jr. lacquered tweed. The tweed version comes with better speakers and it is just amazing. Maybe do some research online. Also any questions I know quite a bit about guitars :) your one is proper nice
Otto Lehmann id go with the fender blues deluxe reissue, I bought one used for 500 bucks, stuck an overdrive in front of it and it’s fantastic for getting that strat twang with the warmth in the neck. Sounds huge and was quite loud, but it’s phenomenal.
Holy, I really didn't expect this video to come up. After a couple months of no uploads I thought you just forgot about the channel and just focused on gaming. I'm really happy to know you hope to make content for this channel, and try to do it while not burning yourself out. It was nice to see a new vid after a couple of years. I also hope to see more bass content in the future.
In my personal opinion, that shit looks stupid as all hell and far from a strat. It doesn't look like a Strat at all minus the headstock. If you took away the headstock, god knows what type of answers you'd get. And the strat that Merk has just has this timeless and classic feeling.
As a musician, I love this channel a lot, I’ve been watching your first channel since I can remember and since you made this channel I can say I was excited for it, and I was patient for a new video everyday and now IT HAS ARRIVED
Awesome! Now get a Gibson SG. (My dad bought one for €1000 :'') is a really classic guitar, jimmy hedrix used to play on a gibson for a short time. But the fender sounds amazing. Have fun with your new guitar!!
Itsliketryingtofitapowerstation throughaletterbox Erm... ok. If you say so. Ignoring the fact that the Gibson Custom Shop is actually in a different physical location to the main US factory (unlike with Fender I believe), has different wood supplies, mill, workforce, etc. etc. Also, they will actually make you a true custom guitar (if you’re prepared to pay for it), all of which I’d say is pretty much the definition of a custom shop. 🤷🏼♂️
One, thank god this channel is back up. I never gave up on it. I just constantly forgot the name XD. Two, I started playing drums in September 2019 and my god, it's been so fun. The switch from creative media to music was easily one of my best decisions....even if one of my mates kinda makes me feel like I'm a rock and he's a mountain. But I aim to make myself better.
Oh man if only you know how long I've been waiting to see the day guitar stuff was coming from you. I've been playing for three years. I've had a break for about two weeks now because I was going through some things but this is motivating me to play again. It's just so fun. I look forward to newer music related vids
Yooo thanks Merk for the video, as a noobie in guitar this is helpful and today i was investigating about electric guitars and PUM you upload this today, THANK YOU
you and the dooo were the inspirations for me to start learning guitar when i started middle school, and after enough practice i was able to play a cover of the trooper for my middle school talent show a few years back lol. im glad you're back to posting on here, just reminding me of the reason i wanted to play guitar in the first place. and thats a sick fuckin fender lmao
I’m so happy you’re back!!! You’re the reason I started playing almost 3 years ago and it was the best decision of my life. Thanks for the inspiration Erik ❤️
I don't actually play the guitar but the piano. I have no idea what the names of the parts mean but you looked like you know what you're saying! Thanks for uploading again!
I found you from your Call of Duty videos years ago but I really liked when you went back to making the occasional guitar video. When you made the Musick channel I was pretty excited for it. Happy you’re back.
I almost forgot aboot this channel! But damn it's nice to watch someone who genuinely loves guitar and is a generally fun and awesome guy! Keep up the great work!
You're back! I remember when I first found out you were an amazing guitarist, were into ibanez and joe satriani I was amazed after watching your gaming videos for years that you had such similar interests to me, I've enjoyed every video you've put out on your channels related to guitar. Hope to see more from this channel!
Merk just keep on doing ur best, I love u and my friends and I have been watching you since I was in 2nd grade, I’m a freshman in high school now. I just want you to keep on succeeding in your passion. Keep up the great work my man you brighten my day when I need it and it goes a long way. ❤️- Will
Omg bro merk I thought this channel was dead I literally went crazy when I saw that you post please post more on this Chanel and guitar content in general I live it sm
I just got a custom classic Strat to go with my page custom tele. I pretty much cover any tone I want now. As far as the tuning issues you have just use either mechanical pencil lead in the nut slots or floss them a bit and it should help out quite a bit. I'm sure you already knew that but just in case you didn't. I agree the tone is amazing from strats.
As mush as i do love your gaming vids, your guitar stuff seems a lot more personal, thats something i really enjoyed and seeing you gush over this fender was great. I'm trying to learn guitar myself, and while i still have a rudimentary understanding i still love these vids and hearing you play
Damn I got notifications that you uploaded a new video I couldn't believe it with my eyes!!! Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always love some Fenderrrr!!
Yes!!! So happy another video is up now!! Keep posting here!! Also what DAW did you use, how do you sync it to your playing? Also what mic do you use, shure?
I really enjoyed this video great job! You actually made me want to learn guitar so I got my dad to teach me and that was september 2018 I am still playing and I now play in my dads band all thanks to you, you have really changed my life and I love that you are coming back to this channel!
That thing is fuckin sick! I started guitar when I was around 10. I wanted to look cool for my friends. My dad worked maintenance in an apartment complex, and he just found this guitar all dusty and abandoned in the corner. He asked, and his bosses allowed him to take it home. He brought it home and I gave it a good cleaning, making it shine like new. It’s a Fender FA-100 acoustic. I learned how to play decent and when I was ready, I bought a cheap strat copy, and I’m still playing to this day, though it’s only been three years, and learned yeah it makes you look cool online, but you don’t get girls sadly.
Love ya Erik, your strat sounds so dope I’m jealous, I’m really glad this channel is coming back cause as a guitarist myself it’s really cool and interesting
Through merk i found steve vai and his music, but i played guitar before that, merk thank you,you made me go through a musical change ,through a year or 2
I just got a strat recently too and it is one of the best guitars Ive ever played. For a guitar designed in the 1950s, it still puts up some great competition!
really glad you're back m8 this channel came at the exact right time for me because i was really getting into satch and vai and really started to appreciate music more i basically watched all your older covers on the old channel (been watching that channel since i think BO2) and it helped me get into guitar playing. I can't wait of your opinion of the pia guitar it looks AWESOME. I kinda also lost hope but i wasn't sure yet for this channel until you answered me (with a lot of luck) in a stream. Enjoy your new strat and small idea boy in seatle was mostly played on a strat i think, and Awesome that your back!!
