Funeral Director and Embalmer here, I love this lol. I wish creepy stuff happened at work, but the scariest thing about my job is probably the risk of spore-forming bacteria, or spelling the deceased’s name wrong and not realising until after the family has left with the death certificates 😂

My Mom’s cousin, Ella, does makeup and hair for their small town funeral home. On one occasion, mom, two of her sisters, and Ella all went on a girls’ trip. They were planning an evening out and asked Ella to do their makeup for them. As she started on one of my aunts, she stopped and said with an exasperated sigh, “I can’t do it right unless y’all are laying down!” They all laughed outrageously!! Then, one by one, laid down on the bed, with their heads hanging just slightly over the edge of the mattress!! Hand to God, this is a true story!!!! 🤣

Oh wow this was a good one lol I had a friend that got a job at a funeral home and after a couple of days they put him working nights. They told him not to EVER open the door that led out into the Chappel area no matter what at night. He thought they were messing with him. He came in and sat down at the desk and got comfortable and turned on the TV. They had another room with a cot next to a telephone in case he got a call but he didn't feel like getting comfortable enough to try and sleep lol He said around 2am he heard what sounded like something press against the office door leading into the Chappel and he sat up to listen and then there was a loud scream. He jumped up and went to the door but remembered them telling him to not open the door, he said there were more screams and then howls and it sounded like a wind blowing the place apart. He said he thought folks had snuck in to mess with him so he unlocked the door and opened it up real fast and flipped on the lights in there and just as he did a big gust of wind blew up in his face and all the noise stopped but the big sliding, seperation curtains in the chappel were swinging back and fourth. He said he slammed the door grabbed his keys and went straight out the back door and left, that was it for him. His boss called that morning asking what the heck and my friend told him he wasn't coming back. His boss told him a lot of people couldn't handle that place at night after finding out how haunted the place was.

It finally turns the typical horror/rules horror story on its head by having the protagonist actually take the rules seriously for once, learning from his mistakes, and still sticking with the job afterward. I graduated mortuary school and loved the 6 months I worked at a local funeral home. Unfortunately being a woman, unless you sleep your way to the top, its not gonna happen. I worked hard to even gain an internship, only to lose it to a boy who worked at Lowe's and was a friend of the owner. It's who you know and who you........ Anyway i loved working in that industry, always had an interest in it. Was my calling, but I was ridiculed the whole time 😢 So sad. I still miss it after all these years. I was sexually harassed by the general manager. I took and passed one part of my board exam. Never took the other half. That was 9 years ago

When my mom and my aunt(her sister)who was a mother figure to me, had passed away, both times the funeral director allowed me to visit early so I could do their makeup myself. It was peaceful and I had extra time with them alone before all the phony family members arrived later on? I wasn't afraid when he left me alone, I just felt safe and comforted. I wouldn't have left that job either after the first night.

My cousin is a mortician, owned his own funeral home. He started working with the dead white serving in the U.S Air force during the Vietnam war I once asked him why this work. He replied that he felt it a privilege to help the surviving family and help the deead look their best. I think Carl Booth was an honorable caring man that had a unique and special talent.

In the Sixth Grade, before Lunch, Mrs. Shane always read out of a book, some story. She was an excellent story teller, and had the kids on the edge of their seats. This reminded me of that, you are good, but not up to Mrs. Shane's standards. Had a friend, just out of high school, became an apprentice at a funeral home. He enjoyed it, until that summer a young boy about 12, was run over my an orchard mover deck. They made him assemble what pieces of what was once a beautiful brilliant child. He had a break-down on the spot, and was never the same.

This one isn’t very scary to me, but almost happy… how we learn the stories of the ghosts, and how, for the most part they don’t seem malicious. They seem to miss him as much as he misses them.

Love this story. It reminded me of the hospital's that my mom worked in Mexico and one hospital we visited in Texas. Each had its weird ghost rule. Didn't help learning these rules, me and my cousins when we live next to a funeral home.

The Wife here. This town seemingly connected is super haunted. You have an Old very old Cemetery with the grounds keeper Marcus who also gives rules by envelope. Then you have Barnaby's that is also very old and that's another story, who also at night gives rules by envelope, now you have a morgue that also gives rules by envelope. Then you have that real estate that can't be sold and also had a set of rules that also had an envelope but also verbally warned. I am sure there are more but I haven't got that far yet been enjoying these ones here and re listening to them. They are so enjoyable. The cemetery one and Barnaby's are my favorites

I work as a transporter for a coroner office. Nothing too crazy has happened paranormal wise. Thank God cause idk how I would react. I definitely always have my eyes and ears open in the office . Scariest thing I’ve had so far is the fear of dropping somebody on accident in front of family members… no pressure 😂

Anyone know what this story was called? it was about kids going on a trip in the woods with shapeshifters who skin turns into clothes and everything. They implant memories into the individual to make it seem like they really know them.

Campfire Tales? I think Dark Somnium just read it a few weeks ago. It had the two shapeshifter children - one was trying to get revenge on the other, who had abandoned her.

So, I’ve struggled with severe anxiety since middle school. In order to avoid embarrassment I would smile so much to the point, I can feel my cheek muscles start to slightly twitch. I did this for years. Until I was an adult. I noticed one day at work I smiled to avoid embarrassment and my face started to twitch out of control, like the more I smiled my cheek muscles kept twitching to the point it was noticeable. So basically anytime I feel anxious my cheek muscles twitch. I’ve been dealing with this since 2012. And it’s been very painful mentally because I can’t even take pictures, without my face shaking. My smile hurt me in the end.
