HELLO FRIENDS! here, after a very long wait - is our k-pop makeover video! we had a wonderful time in seoul learning more about k-pop and i hope you guys enjoy it too! what do you guys think about my final look? xoxo, saf
*Okay but can we talk about how GORGEOUS she looked?? I mean Safiya is super beautiful otherwise but this makeover is BEYOND. So much cred to the stylists and makeup artists!*
I once killed A man with my shoe Wow didn’t realize it was a bad thing pointing out she doesn’t treat others like trash...quite giving off bad vibes it ok 👍 ❤️ she’s different and emo kid is just pointing out the good things
Thank you for having me! I’m still in awe of how amazing the KPop look tuned out. Absolutely stunning! Also please tell me you wear that glitter tinsel jacket when you’re just at home or editing or something. And hands down that harness is art. Amazing research too, you’ve gone above and beyond as always you sexy Melona ice cream.
@@nixtheartist She died from leukemia on september 1st if I remember correctly. She was diagnosed about 6 months ago and gave updates on her channel and her husband hyun’s channel as well. Unfortunately she started getting better, but relapsed very suddenly.
I think it came on suddenly, and she fought hard. Just a damn shame, living a healthy lifestyle, we definitely do not see cancer coming. I lost my wife to ovarian cancer in 2016, the sun does not shine without her. If I can give him any encouragement, I can pretty much say what not to do. But it helps to talk to people who have been through that battle. People do not want to be around, like it's contagious or we might get some "bad luck" on them. You folks *are* helping him by remembering her. Keep talking about her life. That is so important, not defining her by her death. I read a lot of comments about Sara's positivity and kindness and love of laughter. If you comment about the things you learned from her to her husband, that will help him. Knowing she is remembered, that love cannot die, and the hardest thing - that our wives want us to not curl up like me and give up. I hope he can do that, I'm still failing there.
@chamallow989 A relapse? No, you have to be "cancer free" for a year, then it's considered "remission". You get sets of numbers that can look promising, but - and after losing my wife, her best friend had colon cancer. She refused any chemo or radiation after surgery, we begged her to - her docs were horrible. If there is the tiniest trace of a cancerous cell? It's coming back unless it gets nuked. So a few months later, the phone call. Colon cancer again. Amazingly she survived. So - and forgive me for not being delicate here - but I imagine Sara did the chemo, it's very possible that her numbers were looking better, then the body is weaker from chemo, so that's how we can have a ton of hope, then be devastated and confused. Good doctors are very hesitant to say anything is normal for at least a year. (" relapse" sounds like she did something wrong, it's of course not the case, is why I'm adding this)
Man I literally was smiling everytime I see her face on this video I even waved back in my brain at the end of the video when she waved only to see ur comment... what a beautiful soul subhanAllah , some ppl are just beautiful souls, too beautiful for this world, they leave us fast, she left kindness behind, the greatest heritage a human can leave behind.
The amount of content in this video, like we got safiya looking like a full course meal, safiya telling a k pop related jokes and Tyler eating concrete.... 10/10 would recommend
@@paoloemmanuelpaz3694 destroy? Naw, just pester. Also everything from political opinions to science like global warming gets argued over, nothing special here
She is actually the first person on yt I saw including so many clips that are only known by kpop fans andthe fact she isnt a kpop fan and included son really underrated clips shows how much she researched for her viewers ..sAraNgHae 💕
ever since this came out ive been avoiding it cause i thought it was gonna be like "i put on some cargo pants and call it kpop fashion" but safiya actually did her research and ithere´s something so refreshing about this one comparing it to other non-stan youtube videos.
When i heard her saying “Scandalous Jimin style shoulder reveal” i knew she had fallen hard in that rabbit hole .... BUT FVCK IT WELCOME TO THE CLUB SIS
I think the thing I find most interesting about k-pop style is the clear influence some of it takes from older punk and emo style. As someone part of both those subcultures, it’s cool to see how it has rubbed off, even subtly, to other, more popular subcultures. Ik this is random lol I just find this kind of thing interesting.
i love how respectful safiya is when trying to immerse herself within other sub cultures. she doesn’t just blindly enter, she learns and researches as much as possible.
Lucia that’s...lowkey a little racist ngl, if someone told me that i shouldn’t get pissy over some westerner appropriating my culture, we might as well bring back and make orientalism a thing again
Lucia you’re saying “jeez....westerners” but last time I checked you’re the only pressed one that, not to mention, is full of literal bull shit. Now shut up before you say something stupid. Well, something more stupid then the things you’ve already said.
Lucia if someone like Oli London casually inserted themselves into Chinese culture, especially during the time when the Red Guards were still around, they’d literally be dead. Just because Koreans aren’t necessarily as vocal as us Chinese doesn’t mean that they don’t take offence to it. Forcing yourself to be polite by not commenting on the blatant cultural appropriation doesn’t mean that you agree with their actions, even for so-called ‘native’ Koreans, or people in general. Your views on Korean culture are no better than Oli London’s, and all I can tell about your character is that you don’t even have a problem with what he’s doing because ‘actual’ Koreans don’t get offended by it. Koreans are human, they get offended when foreigners appropriate their culture like everyone else does, stop making them out to be some sort of desensitised robots that couldn’t care less about their culture and history.
Honestly, Safiya is the most respectful RU-vidr I've ever seen not only is she respectful to the other countries and she even tries to pronounce words that she doesn't know
Not only that, she is articulate, intelligent, ladylike and doesn't feel the need to drop F-bombs every other word. She is a joy to listen to and I am old enough to be her grandma.
she even asked on twitter about that video of yoongi saying he has dyed his hair like 50 times or smth and i kinda expected it tbh but it turned out so well!!!
Safiya does so much work on these videos and is so underrated not only does she make the videos and film them spending tons of money on each video but she also edits it does voice overs and narration and will puts subtitles to translate other languages and over all does amazing videos that I always look forward to ❤️love u safiya
is this video what i think it is- a non-kpop stan actually taking time to understand the culture and not paint us as crazy, boy obsessed gremlins? wow that’s new
Artistic Forever By:Sophia Hoosein I see you on like every video I click on xD Like it’s great that you want to improve, and that’s a good thing! But do ya really need to beg others to subscribe? Wouldn’t it feel better having others subscribe becuz they actually like the content ya post
Can we all admit how freaking pretty she is? Edit:TYSM FOR THE LIKES Edit : FOUR YEARS LATER ) this comment is so old why does it have even more likes wow
for everyone commenting on how can she afford this stuff: This is her and tylers full-time jobs. that they have had for many many years. She not only makes a lot of money from youtube because of how many views/subscribers she has. but she also invests that money back into her videos (dare I say her business) to make them as high quality as possible. a lot of people try to copy her videos but no one can match the quality. she puts so much time into the research. makes sure to include knowledgeable and even professional people from the thing she is researching. and then she leaves her opinions out and truly tries to see it from the culture's point of view. for example the melon dress. Super far from her style and does not work with her body shape or American standards when it comes to clothing. but she was able to step out of those constraints and say okay way does this work? what are the positives here, there for learn more about what they look for in their fashion and bleeds into her understanding of the subculture she trying to understanding. Then she even puts it on the internet for everyone to see. Mad Props to Safiya. I always really respect the amount of energy, love, time she put into everything she does. it is very very cool. I respect it so much!
Also a lot of people dont realize that some things are done for trade (being styled and in return your promoting them with the video) and anything used to make a video like plane tickets, clothes, stylist fees, equipment ect is all able to be written off on taxes which helps keep costs down.
R.I.P HojuSara. 🖤🖤 I will always remember your charming smile and just how happy, bright, and lovely you always were. You brought sunshine and joy to all of us. My deepest condolences to the loved ones of both Sara and Hyun. 😔☀️🕊
@@shanmi223 A ton of the attractive girls I went to HS with got married within the past few years and I only graduated in '07. They think they can get away with this? I had the world to offer them and then they run off with these p-ssy, sensitive, espresso beta males.... I can't even begin to express the depths of my resentment...
@@Idk-bc1hi I- you know twice is the best selling girl group right? And they’ve set many records?? Man they’re one of the biggest girl groups along with Blackpink, I wasn’t too surprised seeing them lol
I think I general, as an East Asian I have a hard time finding western sizes that fit me because our genetics just build us differently, so Korean clothes would cater to those proportions more like how most of those sketchy Asian clothing websites have smaller than usual sizes as well. Their main demographic is Korean people, so
I'm an American and a US women's size 4. I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me without buying online, because I'm too tall for Asian clothes being 5'6", and many of my sizes are sold out in physical U.S. stores. The only exception is athletic clothes. Lol Thank God for plastics for stretchy clothes.
This is seriously THE BEST MAKEOVER Saf has ever done! The style, the hair and makeup just suits so well! I’m reeeeeally into this look and now kinda wanna try similar on myself 😃
it's really nice to see someone actually do research and not just mention the groups that everyone knows such as BTS and blackpink. im proud. we stan safiya
I know. There are sooooooo many other great groups (older ones too) but because these are the international groups EVERYONE talks about them. I’m glad they are putting more spotlight on the kpop genre, but I hope people don’t put blinders on and only follow the one or two international bands just because they are popular.
it feels so surreal to me that sara just died. haven't watched her in a while so i never even knew that she had leukemia. the only reason why i know about her passing, is because i just came back from hyun (saras boyfriend)'s video talking about how much he really appreciated her. it was such a heartbreaking thing. condolences to saras parents and hyun.
rewatching this as a kpop stan feels so different from when i watched this simply because i love safiya. she is so respectful and researched a lot about kpop. it was very entertaining and i absolutely LOVE the outfit. in my opinion, the outfit was more itzy inspired than blackpink, but it is amazing nonetheless
Omg omg omg I recognize you. From KPop content videos. I agree with you. When the video first came out I was not into KPop at all (I actually thought I would never like it) but now I decided to rewatch it as a KPop Stan and it has been a different experience. Very cool!.
@@crazyowlgirlcncowner it’s nice to see that we watch the same content. and yeah, it is a different experience when you watch it a a kpop stan have a great day
True, this is basically television level quality of production (except for having multiple cameras at every point). The editing alone takes like 100 hours of work.
I love that Saf's videos always feature her but never revolve around her completely like other RU-vidrs' content. She really focuses on highlighting and respecting the culture and history of whatever trend she's looking into and she asks the experts as opposed to just making herself over and exploiting other culture's and subculture's trends for views Long story short I love her sm 😂❤️
Can we have Tyler do this challenge tooo??? But like boy version!? That would be so awesome! . . Omg so many likes, I never comment so this is a surprise! Thanks everyone!
Yaknow can we just take a moment to appreciate how much research and time that goes into Saf's videos? And money too Omg 6 days and 1.1k likes thx 😊 (I am scrolling throufh the commenrs and I had no idea I commented this a year ago💀😂😂 still havent seen anything K-pop kdhdjdjdjd shoukd probably get into it sometime lol also thanks thatd alot of likes woah)
I am here to inform everyone who has yet to know, that Sara has recently passed away. I thought she looked familiar when I saw a clip of her in Tiktok so I searched up this vid I watched a few years ago and confirmed it was indeed her. Sending my condolences to everyone especially to her partner. Rest in peace Sara♡ you will truly be remembered.
ok but safiya DID HER RESEARCH. This is the best "exploring k-pop" video I've ever seen. almost every current k-pop group was featured in the video and she even got in some references and inside jokes! plus the makeover was _s t u n n i n g._ heck yeah Safiya you killed it!!
HojuSara, died aged 31 on September 1, 2022, after battling leukemia for six months :( rest in peace she got engaged in feb 22 the same year ti her long steady bf
To all of kpop fans: i know, it's your life, your decisions and all. But i really want to help. Almost all of kpop popular groups, soloists are illiminati (including sm, yg, jyp, big hit's idols). Please, save your souls, stop listening to them. You can laugh at me, whatever, but it's sad true. Whatever you do, please, be truly loved and saved. God bless you all.
Literally every celebrity, k-pop or otherwise, is supposedly in the Illumanati. You can just as easily tell people to stop listening to a load of other celebrities as well.
@@laiqahn8536 i dont understand how that was r/woosh when they were referring to pinterest and how apparently nobody uses it when many people still do. smh keep ur shitty subreddits to yourself.
Safiya never fails to impress, no matter what the subject, she will put her heart and soul to do research and inform us viewers! As a long-time kpop stan, thank you and this video is just handsdown amazing
I read "It gave me ancient Greece vibes. It was so Fleecing." I thought of the golden fleece. I thought of safiya as a golden lamb. What is wrong with me.
