Good job Darrell. I would likely have used red-oxide metal primer, then rust-oleum cold galvanizing. Pretty sure the pipe you have there is standard "black iron pipe", used in all kinds of plumbing and industry. I used miles and miles of that stuff back in one of my (23yr) careers. What I used to use for mast pipe, before things got totally insane on pricing, is super heavy duty aluminum (3/8" wall thickness) pipe. You used to be able to buy it at Penn Aluminum factory there in Murphysboro, back in the day. I only wish I had bought a lot of different pipes and stashed them back. That pipe you have, looks heavy enough to go a long time (with rust), and not get weak.... cant tell for sure if it's schedule 80 or not.... Good to see you sticking with the project!! 73, dave/WD9m
Thank you for the comment. I hope this lasts a good while before it needs replacing. The paint I used seems to be pretty tough. We'll see what the future holds.
