I Got a New House!!! 

Director of Front Office here at a Resort in Texas, once you get fully operational it makes a huge difference having a maintenance man(engineer) on site 24/7. The little things always happen when you don’t have anyone on-site.

You asked on twitter yesterday what we would like to see at the resort and id love see a full blown total archery challenge type archery range through the woods.. Brcc already has all the targets you'd need. You could be throwing Total Archery events there along with range days.. Donut would approve lol. Brcc needs somewhere to throw their wounded vet total archery challenge now that they don't have the ranch 🤷‍♂️

Turning big rocks into little rocks was one of the most valuable skills I learned in the Army. Second only to sweeping sunshine off the sidewalks.

Replace the windows, remove the popcorn, check/fix the siding and roof, and rent that sucker out. If you really feel you need to remodel, just change the bathroom fixtures and cabinets.

In regard to the "double pane" windows downstairs. They are actually old school storm windows.

Definitely re paint it, fix the siding, get new windows in and other things, don't do a complete gut and remodel just do the things you know it needs

vent cover for under beds and stuff redirects air in a direction so it can come out from under the bed with more force than if it hits the bed and slows it down.

Matt, those outside single pane windows are called storm windows. Very common 50 years ago before double pane glass.

The plastic cover over the air vent is so if you have a couch or bed overtop the vent the air will get deflected to go out underneath it better

Nice little house. A little modernization and it would make a great house for staff at the resort. 👍

Matt you need to partner up with one of the veterans charity…….rehabilitation for homeless,wounded,and down on there luck veterans…..based around military style life,group therapy ect and vets have skills….the off grid cabins will be about 5 k each for single /double accommodation and 10k for a two bed……totally off grid linked together by paths,not roads……and whatever size your making the toilet shower block ,double it…..either that,or build a second one when required…..and for the best range you will need the best instructor…….christian craighead…

Just clean it up and then give it another think. Paint it and give it new windows and call it done. Full gut not neccessary.

I’m surprised you’ve never seen a storm window before they were commonly placed in front of a single plane window for energy efficiency.

Please tell me y'all are going to keep the disc golf course and maybe update it a little bit. I would love to come down when the resort opens and play it.

That house would not need much work to turn it around it has a nice modern design to the exterior the flooring looks good from what I've seen, the kitchen and bathrooms definitely need a refurb maybe the windows too then its good to go, imo.

Modernize the porch, nice black framed windows double glazed obviously. And give the exterior a good paint job to match and that place will look stunning from the outside. Let someone living there sort the inside and a reduced rate rent

Old windows typically had the old actual window, and a storm window concept that screwed over from the outside. The upper part of the storm is glass. The bottom would be screen. It allowed the window to be open without unwanted, four-legged guests to come inside. The northern states, and I assume the south does with limited need, have the storm with an extra glass that can be put down over the screen to prevent the winter wind from coming in.

Matt back when that house was built those windows mounted on the outside were called Storm Windows that you removed in the spring and summer. Repair and or replace the windows. Just spruce up that house good enough to start using.

Matt, I was browsing on Amazon and came across some cool "Little House" units for sale! It is like a box van that folds out into a house complete with a bathroom. The most expensive was $30K😊

Storm windows is the technical term matt. But yeah not gas filled double pane like we hafta have in WV and farther north. But from DubV south they used to be the standard the Ole storm winders. Lol

Thats a vent redirect there was probably a couch or something on top of the vent and that redirects the air

You don't have to float all the gears but you can only push the clutch down partially. It works for a company and we had a truck like that and it took us a minute to figure out that we couldn't push the clutch down all the way in order to get into the next gears.

Have them put in a ceramic clutch in Pearl and have the driver check the transmission oil every day and always use first low with the heavy loads there is no excuse for that transmission too go out so fast

If you have a high enough cliff you could set it up for rappelling or even a bridge. I used to do that in my teen years for fun

Make it into a staff house maybe fix the windows but you won't need a whole remodel.

I helped a local person build a golf course for almost six months and that's what I did drove a truck moving dirt every day talk about boring days and it seemed like it would never get done but when I came back after it was finished it was a good feeling.

I'd like to see at the range is "bloc" climbing . Basically, small rock walls that you put a mat under and that you do not need a harness. It's huge over here and kids will love the easy section and you put some hard ones for the adults. Lots of fun when drinking and betting lol!

The house really is something you could work with and it's got character or carriker, lol, maybe some rock walls on the outside and wood siden and rock the chimney up to the top and new windows and the second floor windows look nice ..

The house inside paint is usable. The outside needs work and new windows for the winter. The old windows were blocked to save heat. You might want to scrap the ventilation system, probably filled with bugs, dust and disease. Opt for ventilation slits in the new windows. Replace fridge, domestic machines and wiring to avoid a fire hazard. A workplace fire can result in bankruptcy. No need to do fancy wiring inside the walls. Before all of this, check for water and bug damage. GL

That little tray over the vent is for when you have a couch or something over the vent. Blows the air out from under the couch instead of straight up into the couch.

One possibility we see would be to turn a couple of you houses into studios for Pod Casts! You seem to have a number of Pod Casters in the area, you could rent the houses out to them, turn the bedrooms into studios with sound deadening, etc..

@8:50 Those "popcorn" ceilings are nasty! My house was built in the late '60s and has the "mop" style ceilings. Basically, a guy takes a mop and walks from one end of the room to the other, putting a pattern on it. At least it can be painted with a roller...

Careful matt . Classic indicators. I rented out a 3 bedroom house the tenants cleaned it up pretty good but a room had foam on the windows and lots of staples everywhere. Yup it was used as a grow. Can’t trust anyone anymore, walk through every 2 months solved the issue.

Those windows are old single pan windows with storm windows. The storm window helps keep wind drafts down & also keeps rain/snow out of the wood window sill

Done a lot on cleaning and clearing the property, great job. The house is a nice house and can be fixed up to look lovely inside. Lots of windows for natural lighting. Love it all!

The air vent is to redirect air if a piece of furniture is over top of the vent. Given the conduit for the wires, my guess is they had a media unit sitting on top of the vent holding DVD players and such

Upgrading windows will save on energy costs. Ancient bathtub/shower units being replaced before they actually expire and damage the walls is also a smart move. Exterior patches here and there. Call it done.

You could put double pane or triple pane windows now they have all kinds of options for the windows its 1 grea1t little house perfect for staff housing im surprised that you didnt rent a "rock truck" there made to haul big loads of stone snd dirt as the ones you have aren't really made for that wear and tear
