dude thats not normal price for stuff here... I rent a room for 800$ thats pretty big. A whole apartment that is near San Francisco is around 2-2.5k. For the nicer stuff and "nicer" areas like UC Berkeley and Mountain view its like 3.5k-4.5k. San Fransisco is pretty high like 3k for shit and up. LA prices are around the same or probably less overall.
