Hi Sharon, am just curious as to why the cost of silk press in Nairobi has to bemore or less the same as the cost in New York? Yet cost of living and currency value is different. I'd raised this with Tabitha of Craving Yellow and questioned the ethical issues behind promoting such services which to be honestly speaking may not be that much. Before anyone asks, yes I've been to New York, yes I can afford a 10k salon and no I would not spend or promote suchlike practice.

That's everywhere, ma. Which is SO sad. One older lady in Washington overdid my hair when relaxing and it broke off immediately and when I complained, she said oh because you are African, I thought your hair needed more time with the chemicals. I chopped off my hair right after that.

Hey hey Sharon. Love the sheen and length of your hair. I cried buckets when you did the big chop, so I'm glad to see it thriving again. As for my silk press experience... it was super traumatic. Initially it was long and glossy, then a few days later it started to break to the point where I was terrified to even put my wide tooth comb in. I eventually had to do a massive chop and weekly protein treatments. In fairness though, my hair responds best to the controversial "hair food/hair grease/petroleum" products. I'm a die hard Dark n' Lovely chick. So erm ya, lol😁

hey Sharon ....I was natural for the longest time but I decided to texturize my hair 4 months ago, I love it and although I loved my natural hair this is different and I'm never going back natural because it's so much easier to style and take care of my hair and I have seen alot more growth in these four months than I have in 4 months of years of being natural

I love your excitement!...Honestly, I've always feared going natural esp detangling my hair without straightening but Corona made me face my fears, sort of, coz I had to. I haven't gone to any salon since Feb this year and everyyyytime I think of getting straightened or plaited I fear the overheating, pulling and tugging. My fear now lies on going to salons. I thought I'd find my affordable 'dream saloonist' who''ll understand and be gentle to my hair but that's still a dream. I'm just thinking of getting sisterlocks or microlocs when it'll be affordable to me...struggles are real my friend haha

I do silk press twice a year. Great chance to get the spilt ends done. Look forward to it so much that even have a countdown as just love the feel of my hair and having bouncing hair. Watching u now nearly got me to book my next one early. My only advice with them is to have it done by someone who you know you can trust. If you aren’t sure of who do your research by asking other naturals and not taking a chance

I had books lined up from day one but maybe more actively got into a routine after the first year! My dad always insisted that reading becomes a part of our everyday lifestyle when I was growing up and I wanted to make sure it was the same for my family. :)
