Welcome to the blacklist club! lol. You’ll be alright. I know it may frustrate you from a work standpoint, but honestly you’ll be better off without it. Its mainly up to their community managers whether they go to bat for you for interviews and events, I’ve been blacklisted, then unblacklisted, then blacklisted again, etc etc. At this point I’m just not invited or contacted anymore because they are scared they cant control what i say about the game good or bad. its far easier and more liberating to not have to worry at all about all that crap as you realized here. Just do what you do and honestly its up to critics to be a little tougher on these games than your average gamer to continue to press for improvements, excellence and polished games.

And then RU-vid ran an Anthem advertisement before this video played 😂 irony

Thanks for being an honest reviewer. Sadly I think your estimate if 90% being honest is very optimistic. But, gamers are wise to this. I'm old enough to remember the days when bad games could sell well entirely on advertising. By the time word got out about it they had made their money and didn't care. Now, not so much. Crappy games get called out even before release, and that's a good thing in my book. The big companies try to control the process, squashing bad reviews and propping up good ones, but for the most part it doesn't work. So yeah, gonna sub your channel just for being straight with us. Love the channel, and I always value your impressions and information about new games, just like AngeryJoe, and Skillup. The three of you got me into Warframe, a game I had pushed aside after its first demo, a couple years later the only reason I took a second look, was because of Joe, Skillup, and your reviews, so for that I thank you good sir. Big companies seem to have that idea that, sense they are a AAA budgeted company, that you owe them favors and should be happy they even look your direction. Some companies like Ubisoft, don't tend to embrace this mentality. Basically I think it boils down to the CEO and board members attitudes. A lot of times success in business breeds wealth, and arrogance. That attitude will pass down through their company to the lower stations. Middle management often mirrors the attitudes of the ones they are held responsible by. Business ethics 101 dude, that being their isn't ethics in big business. Large corporations make deals behind the curtains all the time. Talking specifically about the part where you mentioned they were offering you money to say nice things. That's generally how they roll. If they can see you have a relatively large audience that values what you say, they will toss money at you to curb off any negativity that may come around. Just stand your ground brother. Skillup and AngeryJoe are very correct. Keep the faith on your own personal ethics and honesty, that's the only way to make these big companies produce polished, and better content.

Great video. Excellent video and topic. I believe these type of actions create the counter-culture needed to balance the BS. What I believe will happen is that all reviews will post AAA games as a MUST-HAVE, AAA games will make sales but will have terrible qualities (story writing, bugs, etc) and the consumers, gamers, and the like, will make the judgement call the NEXT time that said developer releases a product. (too long. winded, my bad) This is me with Mass Effect: A. Because I fell for the trickery, I put my faith in that brand and now I will always be apprehensive towards anything with EA’s name on it.

First time I have watched your channel...a very good open and honest explanation of how corporate greed is working hard within the gaming industry. Remember the days when games were really great to play, of course there were issues with games. But when you bought the game, that’s what you got, the whole game. Not various choices in whether you want to pay extra cash for some silly skins or paint job ect ect 🙄. Now the gaming industry is run by the ‘money men’....it must be really frustrating for the real game developers who just want write games, but are told to cut corners so the game can be released sooner...🤔 Anyway I digress, if I saw someone who reviews games had been banned by a game developer, I would trust their opinions over other fanboys who spout how great a game is....just my opinion. EA thinks its too big to fail. Censoring criticism solidifies that they're not willing to compromise on their anti-consumer, anti-game practices. They're looking to fill their image space with as many fanboy crusaders as possible. This type of terrorist group doesn't deserve to exist; they keep showing us why.

We need honest reviews. I watched all of your videos on this and still decided to purchase. People should still be INFORMED of what they are buying the good and bad. At least then we get to make a fair appraisal. Limiting access creates bias. Free press please. Thanks for the honesty CP!

Hey @cleanprincegaming - you are 100% on point with this. This is also very real in movie reviews (just ask Angry Joe about Lionsgate) and its a very real thing in streaming too. In a way these publishers or entertainment groups have this unspoken requirement that no one "bite the hand that feeds them" but it is illogical. That would be like us putting out content to everyone on RU-vid or Twitch or any other platform and expecting to never receive negative feedback. Any content provider (even those that are a large corporation) should always have the expectation that feedback will not always be positive. Some of the core issues are that these groups have forgotten about the process of improvement through feedback and falling on their face and instead focus directly on the money or layoffs to make up for the lack of said money. This creates lackluster content a lot of the time or content that is incomplete (and tends to leave many then unemployed, unfortunately). Its important for folks to have a voice if that is the case. Or if it isn't the case, to have a voice to share that as well - objectively and honestly. Was great watching this video and hearing what you are going through as well as hearing your thoughts overall on things - thanks for putting this together and sharing it out!

I listened to you, I heard. And it is sad the way our gaming industry has grown. I saw it coming a long time ago as many have. But, I can't help still feeling a little surprised when I watch you review tubers assaulted by the companies I use to love. It's like I don't want to believe and for a minute, a day I want to stay in the yesteryear with the games that hailed my heart and the studious that created them. I should add, there are many very good games of recent I am enjoying or anticipating...not Anthem. I have heard many reviews all the same in basic; it's prudent to wait a bit on that one. Very interesting video thanks! I don’t think people see youtubers and journalists the same at all. There was a wide reaching survey around a year ago that placed journalists lower than politicians on the who-do-you-trust scale with people under 25. They were basically the LEAST trusted of all public figures. RU-vidrs (or I think it was worded influencers) were one of the highest. So a betrayal of trust by a RU-vidr is probably quite shocking to many.

It seems to me that RU-vid should disable the ability to like/dislike/comment on *any* video, unless at least 80% of it has been watched (not skipped to 80% mark). It would improve the quality of commentary and community by leaps and bounds.

Imagine a day when big triple A companies take "negative" reviews to consideration and use them to make their games better. Giving gamers experiences and games that they will actually enjoy and want.. boy I hope I will still be alive and still be able to play when that day comes.

Your opinions are solid, your delivery clear, and your points are hitting EA in their "feels" as Positive Advertising is all they want to hear because they themselves are probably noticing the heavy hand they are using on Bioware to push Anthem out the door. As Angry Joe, ( I need to drink a beer with that guy) said your job is to be critical, try being a little more consise if "nicer" is what they want. The way you hammer you issues with the game through your body language and outstanding command of grammar perhaps seems threatening to EA, but Anthem is very anticipated and we all want this game to satisfy that inner childs want to fly around and shoot laser from our hands!!!! A video that was somewhat deserved over 10 mintues and actually keep me somewhat interested. Normally you would just ramble on and on about uninteresting topics that don't go anywhere. Good Job

On Anthem: "This is Wrong" "Anthem is sinking fast" "We're not dumb" "Anthem Should Scare You." These thumbnails are the things I'm guessing they base their decisions on, for who to give early access copies to. They're not going to watch the 1hour or so worth of your content alone to see that you start out with the skepticism, then ended with the positive feedback. The Quartering and such do the same thing with their thumbnails and titles, so it's no surprise. I'm not saying that this is right or wrong to do, with 'blacklisting' because there are a lot of troll-type channels, that ONLY focus on the negative for every game they discuss, and it's not possible to tell the difference on thumbnails alone. No developer wants to give those people copies of the game they're using the market the game before release.

Everyone has their opinion, and sometimes I agree with yours and sometimes I disagree, but that doesn't mean I unsubscribe from your channel, because I can gauge how I'm going to like a game based on how your opinion of it.
