So is this a challenge or just unlimited refills? I can understand a Resturant cutting people of if they are wasting or packing up the food to take home, as the point of the all u can eat is to attract customers to the Resturant and buy other things.
Well you have to expect this to happen every once in a while especially if u run that special every week ! These pro eaters will soon find your place to try especially if it's good. But most the time just like he said he pays much more then he even ate . And with him doing the video , shout out and had good following it's free marketing and will bring people in the door!! It's a win win sometimes!
When places do all you can eat then know 99.9% of customers will not eat more then one reorder that’s why they do it. I am so glad you got a real owner who gets it. That’s rare and wonderful to see. Great content.
@@oobydoobytooby4430I wish he kicked Joel out so the restaurant can shut down. We need less restaurants like this. All you can eat, is all you can eat, not, "When we feel like you've had enough".
@lehvrhon5319 Do you think if that owner didn't see or notice that Joel had almost a million followers he would do that? Do you think if a regular customer got into that situation he would treat them equally? I doubt that. Obviously the waiter came up and said he watches his content. Obviously they saw him filming and looked him up. The manager did the intelligent thing to not get bad press. If it was a regular person, I'm sure they'd be kicked out from the restaurant. Amazing service after they knew about his clout. Pretty simple to spot.
Owner levelled up!......Got Respect for that! GOD Bless him. A good man that he is, keeps his word... If you are in that area, visit this restaurant, give him the business a good man like this deserves. Way to go Joel, you handled it like a gentleman!
They should put in writing, all you can eat in an "hour. " Half an hour for professional eaters!! That opens up seats for incoming customers ! Then it's total transparency!!! Perfect recipe!! Chop chop
The one hour helps with turning tables, but you’re dependent on the efficiency of the server. They should refill with fish AND chips each time. The chips will slow down most people from eating too much.

@@franccamaj488you know how p*ssy the internet is. People who have never watched this show before would 'join the mob' and review bomb this poor restaurant. People's livelihood be damned.
I think the manager knew he was being recorded? But still the Right attitude.I live in Ventura California in a beach Community. We pay $18.99 for 3 or 4 pieces of fish. Me personally they should raise their price to $20.99 for all you can eat fish.
"They should raise their price" No my dude, they shouldn't, can we afford it? Sure, but if they have it at that price it's because they're still making profits, so instead, why not pass your desire to give more money to the waiter/waitress serving you at the time? Win/win.
He would still have been caught off if it wasn't for the camera, My friends have been to the same place and they we're kicked out for eating too much at a all you can eat restaurant.
@@JoelHansen Joel, come on... I think someone recognised you and that's fine that person saved the business from having a silly moment. Here's the thing though, how many people will they come across that can plough through that much food like you? It's an anomaly lol. Shout out to the London guy, I reckon he saved this video.
That fish looked so delicious and I feel the restaurant was very generous before they put a stop to it. I can't really blame them. They gave you the world's largest portion. Good luck Joel. 😊
@@Beautiful_Mess Yeah he was, until the owner realized hundreds of thousands of viewers were going to see false advertising in action at his establishment
Joel, Stop creating this “All you can eat” drama. You can avoid this by being upfront and talking to management BEFORE you cruise in. Figure something fair out in advance with them. Otherwise guys like you just absolutely kill profits and reputations for struggling places such as this one.
@@Pepening that’s called consent… someone “cutting you off of sex cuz they’ve had too much” is a completely valid thing to do, same with a restaurant RUNNING OUT OF STOCK and having the right to cut someone off. Fish is expensive. 25+ pieces is not worth $15.
Exactly as someone with eating disorders and can’t eat certain food and can’t eat out much, I love through him. And he makes me want to eat and cook a lot of food. So in a way he has helped me a lot.
All you can eat fish in a landlocked desert for $15 during Bidenflation is beyond charity. I'd understand from a business standpoint if they actually cut him off from the manager level. Curious if it was the camera that acted as a lifeline though.
man those were some ginormous hunks of fish! good on them for fixing the issue, im sure the cooks were just scared of running out but couldve handled it way better. but the manager/owner came to the rescue. and so cool that waiter watched and you helped with his mental health! all around great episode
@xurtify Beans on toast is a classic, you swine. You can add a little BBQ sauce to the beans, maybe some cheese and chilli flakes.. but beans on toast is a staple and you best recognise.
I sympathize with the chef. This isn't really a challenge dish. That salad alone costs $15 at a lot of restaurants. Fries and 24 FAT pieces of fish for that is an amazing deal. Kudos to the owner for above and beyond, but also, I wouldn't get mad after 24 pieces of fish. I would have just offered to buy another all you can eat and reset the counter. When I saw the title, I thought it was going to be cut off at like 8 or 10 pieces...I would have been critical of that. But 24 pieces is WAY more than anything they expected when setting that price.
The amount of times this would actually happen though makes it pretty much insignificant when you notice the guy ploughing through the fish has a tripod setup with your restaurant banner in the backdrop. What Joel is doing is challenging "all you can eats".
Actually, early in the video Joel said the "record" was 9. We couldn't tell for sure that the server confirmed it, but someone seems to have kept track at some point.
Sorry but that's no excuse - there are plenty of 'all you can eats' that have the forethought to set some rules to ensure this doesn't happen, but if you don't set those rules, you have to be prepared for people like this.
The owner handled the situation like a champ. I definitely know how the conversation in the kitchen went down. The advertisement Joel gave them alone was worth the cost. Respect, but the cook making the call to cut him off definitely got chewed. 😆 🤣 😂
yeah its one thing there is a limit like all you can eat in a hour or 2 hours. there is a korean bqq place in Los angles areas that you have all you can eat within 2 hours. that makes sense. if this place is a all you can eat and no time limit then what the heck is the deal with them. mainly the cooks. it shouldnt matter to them how much someone orders
Ok I am kinda indifferent about this experience...before they announced that you were cut off, you said you were full and could probably only do only 2 to 5 more. When the owner asked what you wanted...you asked for 5 more when you already had 2 on your plate. I am saying all of this to say... Restaurants prep food based on expected customer volume... you are an anomaly. You are a professional eater, and a professional thing to do is inform the Restaurants ahead of time so they can plan accordingly.
I agree and he should already know to pay extra money instead of trying to be cheap. It’s not fair to the company to feed you what they will feed 10 customers and make their profit. You can possibly make it harder for other people so plan ahead and pay more money because you already know you gonna eat more food
That has nothing to do with it then don’t make something, ALL YOU CAN EAT? so what if someoen not a professional eater but can eat a lot so they have to let them know ahead of time? Foh stupid azz comment it’s all you can eat so no you don’t have to let them know in advanced
A lot of fish restaurants blanch cook the fish a head of time so you don’t have to wait so long for your food when it’s cooked the rest of the way, and one person eating that much would definitely ruin a normal dinner’s experience if there isn’t enough food for them to cook for normal customers.
You're tripping dude. I work in a restaurant, and you always overprepare, especially when there's some sort of special going on. We've had crazy rushes happen on a monday night and we didn't run out or have to cut anybody off, and it wasn't a holiday or special day of any sort. Just treat joel as a party of 10 unexpectedly showing up at your door, happens to every restaurant fucking everywhere all the time. Would a party of ten need to call ahead? If you're turning away walk-ins of 10 because you didn't prep enough food, you're running a bad business. I would be ecstatic to have a man with 800K subscribers walk in the door, my restaurant would probably give him free food, because that's basically free advertising, compared to how much actual advertising costs, vs the cost of 20 pieces of cod.
I recently found your channel, and now i cant stop binge watching your videos, and i love how you always make a point to keep things friendly to kid viewers, so i can always watch these around my littles and not worry about language or poor taste comments, youre the GOAT joel!
Me too! And have seen subs rise by 100k in the week. This channel deserves millions more and Joel will get there. I love his enjoyment and descriptions of the food and veggie advise to kids.
On this occasion I side with the restaurant, who handled it extremely well. All you can eat is loosely aimed at ‘normal people’ not professional eaters gorging themselves. If you were paying something like 40-50 bucks then maybe grounds to complain but $15? They are a business and I understand why they would try and cut you off.
Here's the thing: it's absolutely unacceptable and fraudulent. Most people are not going to eat nearly as much as Joel and the "all you can eat" clause covers those rare cases. This is deceptive and anti-consumer. You need to raise your ethical standards.
It’s called all you can eat for a reason . Not all the cooks wants you to eat . He’s probably 1 out of 100 people who eat like this. They make more than enough off the 99 others who don’t eat their fair share. As a restaurant set limits because I know damn well if he only ate one piece they wouldn’t charge him less.
@@mattgalloup294 you don’t know anything about the restaurant business. They only have so many prepped most likely (for probably the next day as well) and they’re not going to start prepping late in the day while they’re open
I was sweating just watching you eat that many fried fish, but wow, when the manager said 10 more coming right up, my stomach starting to hurt with sympathy pains for you! I have been known to put away a lot of food in one sitting but you take the cake! WOW! Much respect to your stomach!
Great content 👌, what a nice way to recommend the restaurant after the minor dispute. Hats off to the restaurant owner for the way he turned the negative mood /vibe into an overwhelmingly positive mood/vibe of the customer. Fantastic management lesson too. Many thanks for your contents.
I completely understand the frustration. I think you asked the perfect question....is it all you can eat or is it a limit. You handled that perfectly. To tell a customer they are cut off is embarrassing. I'm sure it was a bs excuse that they were running out but glad they fixed the situation.
They went about it all wrong. Jus to tell Joel that this is gonna be the last pieces and hes cut off...should have came to him w the truth to begin with and say ya man we're jus running out of product. Joel always responds w respect!
The situation was handled ALLLL kinds of wrong until the owner stepped in. If they didn’t have the supply, that should’ve been stated in the first place. Most people would be much more understanding of that, especially competitive eaters like him that eat an enormous amount. Just say you weren’t prepared for that and didn’t have any fish left. Never should’ve been told “you’re cut off,” which I’m betting is exactly what the cooks told the server to say while they were b*tching in the back 😂
The owner/management made it right and that means a lot to me at places like this so kudos, I’ve had issues with restaurants in the past few years and it doesn’t seem like they do right by the customer and when they step in and make things right it means a lot these days
That fish looked AMAZING! I was so excited to see this and then so bummed when they cut you off. But then to hear the manager turn it around and double down... AMAZING!
What a wonderful restaurant - that manager was so phenomenally accommodating, friendly and helpful. I hope they get lots of business as a result of this video. And so nice to hear that server say you have helped him through his depression and struggles with eating. I also struggle with depression and genuinely appreciate your content and respect for other people (which is so apparent in the way you deal with everyone).
Nothing in this world is completely free, what's probable is that someone told the manager he was a big time youtuber and he could get them more publicity. That's why they went above and beyond. If he wasn't they would likely kick him out
@@HistorybyLeo too bad theyre legally not allowed to kick anyone out. its called all you can eat, and unless they state other restrictions, you can eat as much as you want. if they cut you off its called breach of contract and you can sue the restaurant
@@teddyholiday8038 I went to their Menu online. They don't have all-you-can-eat fish on it anymore. I can't blame them for removing it. That video only will attract a lot of freeloaders. If Joel paid them in advance to demonstrate how much Fish he could eat. That would be fair to the restaurant. I am sure a lot of people will show up to savagely devour AUCE, Fish. The benefit the Restaurants will receive. Some will buy other things on the Menu, they are there, and, AUCE, Fish is no longer on the Menu... LOL
Great video, i was the fry cook on shift that day. i just wanted to clear some things up because i see alot of comments not understand what happened. We run our all you can eat fish on Friday. We order our shipment of fish on Thursday night and prep it in the morning on Friday. When he came in it was on a Wednesday or Thursday (i don't remember) we only had 50 pieces of fish left from stock and we had a couple order fish before him. Then we cut fish off and only served him fish. At the time we thought we had enough because nobody ever has eaten 40+ pieces of fish. Once he reached the end we let him know we ran out. He was great about it but people need to stop saying we cut him off because we didn't want him eating anymore 😂
True class from the manager there. It's a good thing you didn't just accept that "cut-off" from the cooks, Joel, and it's smart that you asked for the manager. Based on your past experiences, you realized that theoretically the manager would have the ultimate discretion to choose to stop the reorders, not really the cooks. Smart thing on your end again, Joel👏
Joel is promoting their restaurant to a vast audience of millions. The Roost ought to express gratitude, and it appeared that they did. The all-you-can-eat ensures that customers can freely order without concerns about exceeding limits or facing restrictions. ✌️
Every interactions give you a chance to correct the situation. This manager went above and beyond. Not only did he avoid a boycott now people will be driving themselves to his restaurant. If its near by me, I would definitely pay them a visit. Well done Joel and the Manager.
It always surprises me how very angry you get when a restaurant cuts you off, when in good faith being a competitive eater you should be able to be transparent and want to be to all the places you visit that are all you can eat, or not. There are the objections to well it's all you can eat, but also there is a reasonable amount of food that is expected to be eaten by the average person. To knowingly go into an establishment and expect to pay $14.99 for a $400 to $500 dollar plus meal continuously is honestly not the right thing to do on your part, nor get mad about it, especially considering your fan base and the amount you make from this platform and these videos. Instead of getting mad, or getting a bad reputation, and maybe even be banned from shooting your videos in these places in the future, you should consider your part in this equation. Your getting paid and they should be also. In other words, your profiting by the massive meal and getting paid to eat it. Pass it on and be grateful. Being upfront and or offering to pay a certain amount in consideration for the food consumed would show your respect for them and then they probably would show you more respect in return and not cut you off because you were open and they would want the good publicity also. NOT to feel like "your fan base" and popularity, is a good way to make them " give you what you want". Do the right thing and they will also.

@@JumboJuneauhe didn’t make them look bad if a business looks bad then it’s something they did to themselves. He was raving about everything the whole time. It actually made me want to try fish it looked that good.
I have mixed feelings about this. I think winning challenges is very fair, but I do think that it’s exceptionally gluttonous to consume such a massive amount of food at restaurants that aren’t offering it as a challenge. This hits close to home because I’ve personally seen three restaurants that have been dealing with massive inflation issues and shutting down due to cost. It’s also no secret that people are literally starving to death and can’t even get food in some places. Maybe tell the restaurant upfront that you’re going to likely be eating quadruple what an average person would and give them a chance to opt out of serving you.
That sounds a little like discrimination. I know your menu says all you can eat, but not YOU. Not just speaking about Joel either. Some people who intermittent fast can really put food away. If a restaurant doesn't want to serve everyone, they shouldn't offer it.
Agreed. Joel should’ve let the restaurant know due to he’s eating a huge amount. Remember Joel, you’re making a lot of money from RU-vid from doing what you doing. Picking a small business to do what you’re doing. Please let the restaurant know to prepare and next time offer to pay them 10X the amount. I suggested you go to Las Vegas casino buffet to do your eating challenge, after All those casino don’t care how much u eat. They made millions and billions of dollars. Stop going to small business restaurants to do your challenge and if u do, offer to pay 5x-10x. Honestly, I think you very greedy and inconsiderate . Im glad the manager/owner handled this kinds of people well. I’m starting to dislike your fish and chip all you can eat challenge. When u were told u got cut off. Why were u pretending to be shocked 😂. Come on, u know u did a lot of damage.
@@KhomkessMyaszrilphast_ I understand all of that but if a business is struggling to the point of closure, either change their prices or stop offering all you can eat lol. It's funny how he thinks they have a problem when he almost finished more than half of their prep for the evening. I worked kitchens and having a person eat half he prep, even if it's an all you can eat, screws up the business. If he called them in the day to let them know he would be eating this much they could prep for it. I like the channel but I'm surprised he's surprised that they cut him off. Like I said, let them know ahead of time so they can prep for it. It's not cool. Love the way the owner said you can have 10 lol that threw him off lol Save face bro
Listen you're gonna have to lower your expectations if you think that qualifies the kitchen for being poorly run. Guarantee much worse happens in establishments you think are well run.
Yeah. The exposure to a large audience that is pretty loyal to places these guys visit makes places like this become more popular outside the small local presence
Understandably cut off, most restaurants don’t prep for competitive eaters unless it is stated as a challenge for that specific place. Also, they have many orders to fulfill per night and only have so much supply per day. It’s good to recognize that and maybe call and tell them beforehand, as a suggestion.
@@bluejay4479 I understand the logic behind that but the bottom line is you get what’s advertised. If the sign says all you can eat then that’s what it should be. Many people have stated they’re fine with restrictions as long as they’re made clear.
